So, did Al Gore quietly fade away into private life, or did he go on the lecture tour?
You understand that those two things are not the same, right? You can’t even keep your own inanities consistent. Ravenman’s comment is, if anything, an excessively generous and sympathetic reading of your posting history.
Making a few bucks off the lecture tour is hardly political service. Gore faded away into obscurity over a decade ago.
I have no idea why this got moved to the pit. Its a simple observation that Hillary is getting a bigger home to accommodate her Presidential secret service detail. I tried to interject a bit of sarcasm in the thread title. That she’s assuming she’ll win. Of course she expects to win. Trump thinks he’ll win too.
People read way too much into my threads. It’s just casual conversation to break up a mind numbing work day.
This is hardly pit worthy material. No one is upset or angry. It’s just an interesting side note to the election. Too bad the mods don’t deem it worthy for the election thread. The conversation was already finished and the thread headed to zombie land.
Dude, he won the fucking Nobel Peace Prize. You really consider that “making a few bucks off the lecture tour?” Jesus Christ, you are so fucking retarded.
So much this. And then add the fact he won the fucking Nobel peace prize by raising awareness around the world about a huge issue that has political implications.
I would tell you to get a clue, but, yeah that’s not going to happen.
You didn’t say he gave up “political service,” you said that he faded into “private life.”
Going on the lecture circuit, getting heavily involved in environmental education, becoming the main focus of one of the highest-grossing documentaries of all time, and winning the Nobel Prize do not constitute fading into private life, you fucking nincompoop.
Actually, people read way too *many *of your threads, because you can’t fucking help yourself from posting simplistic, subjective, poorly-analyzed and stupidly-argued threads just about every fucking day.
No, it’s your contributions that are mind-numbing.
aceplace is reading The Daily Mail. You’ll never believe what inane bullshit he posts next!
Do you copy headlines from the New York Post without understanding the articles? This one little trick can tell you if you’re a demented shit-for-brains!
Are you a senile codger with misplaced nostalgia and too much spare time? Click here to kids today Hillary lol coloreds in my day what racism? hot teacher sex Hillary just asking questions.
Here’s the thing. I used to assume that as well, but he’s actually not a bored 70 year old with nothing else to do than repost Daily Mail headlines. He is, best I can recall, a late 40s guy with a full time job.
He just posts like a 70 year old with early signs of dementia.
Dukakis, Dole, Gore(?), Romney…How many of them of them have spouses with two term presidencies. That alone is what most of the replies have been driving at you.
Al Gore in the last decade. There was that “Inconvenient Truth” thing, that was pretty huge, the Nobel Peace Price. Don’t get that sitting at home watching reruns of the Simpsons, he helped Al Jazeera launch their American branch. He was on AAPL’s board of directors and, if that’s not enough for you, on top of the lecture circuit, he’s also a visiting professor at quite a few top schools (UCLA, Columbia etc).
What what kills me, Acey, is that while I did know some of this right off the top of my head, it was ALL in his opening wiki paragraph. You could have just clicked on it before making another ignorant statement like ‘Gore faded away into obscurity over a decade ago’ when what you meant is ‘I haven’t heard his name much in the last few years’.
For someone that spends every waking moment on the Daily Mail and Yahoo News, you’d think you’d be more up on this stuff.
Obama picks Gore as environmental Chief 2008
How Gore’s Net worth went from 1.7m in 2000 to 200m in 2013
There’s 17+ pages of results at the Daily Mail so there’s just one more from 2012 that mentions him being on the board at Apple
We all know this is your go to site. If you think he was just sitting around doing nothing, that’s on you.
Good Lord. I hear “Presidential Compound” and “she just bought the house next door” plus “now she owns the entire cul de sac”. Wow, that is kinda creepy. Even small cul de sacs generally have at least four houses, usually six.
Wait, what? There were only those two houses on the cul de sac? TWO? That’s not a compound unless you’ve been locked in a single room your entire life!
But he never comes back and says “yeah I misunderstood that”. After all the clarifications and explaining he toddles away, off to start the next misguided thread
I had planned on not dignifying this stupid thread with a response, since my only response would have constituted threadshitting. But now that it’s in its proper place, I can speak my mind. For the many reasons already offered by more thoughtful posters, this thread is stupid and you should feel bad for posting it.
"A bit over confident are we Hillary?
Talk about counting your chickens before they hatch…"
What did she do? Pull some right wing style Malheur Wildlife occupation of the White House before the election is held? Because yeah, that would totally be counting her chickens before they hatched. Anything short of that would simply be one of the stupidest OP’s I have ever read. Will it damage my computer, I wonder, being connected through wires and internets to such stupidity?
It’s not such a great house, either. Nice pool, I suppose.
But if someone came up to me and said “Guess what, Uke! You can have ANY presidential compound you want!” I’d go for the Bush place in Kennebunkport. I like steamed clams.
Of course, I’d need to fumigate and completely redecorate. Maybe one of the Roosevelt places at Hyde Park or Oyster Bay. Or Monticello.
This is adorable. You think the Clintons will get an rv and just tour around? Lots of elderly people do, after all. Maybe sell the big house (much to the chagrin of Chelsea, perhaps?) And get cute little cottage? Easier to clean and all that.
