A bit over confident are we Hillary?

The Kennedy place in Hyannis. That’s the one.

Maybe it’s some New York regulations but I’ve also seen some 2-house cul-de-sacs around the Albany area, with each house being a McMansion with a couple acres of land, although considering the land size and its privacy and distance from neighbors perhaps “cookie cutter mansion” is a more appropriate term.

A random aside from a professed Hillary hater.

Why do this? Why do this NOW?

She sells herself (and Bill) as a by the people, for the people and of the people candidate.

Well, I don’t know about you…but the average man on the street I know isn’t just buying up expensive real estate because they can and it would be conveinent now for them to do so.

Sure, chances ARE that this will fly under the radar. And even if it does escape the radar a bit, the Hillary lovers won’t care and the Hillary hates will just hate more.

But IMO, this, like many other things Hillary has done recently, has a chance (albeit a small one) of blowing the fuck up and measurably hurting her.

And for what? Because she/he/they just want to fucking do it? It is NOT like taking some politcal stand on XYZ where it might hurt or it might help and it just depends on reality to find out which is which. This it IMO yet another action that is AT BEST neutral, most likely not to be, and has a non zero chance of causing uneeded shit…and for what? Because they wanted too?

Powell’s hubris comment is getting clearer every day.

Maybe the owner wanted to sell now. Yawn.

This election isn’t just about winning, it’s about the coattails, too.

Suppose Hillary goes all-in and taunts Trumpers for weeks as you suggest. That could reduce her margin of victory from, say, 9% to 3%.

That might cost the Democrats several Senate seats.

Any Trump fan that wants to point their finger at Hillary and say “Looky here, she’s such an elitist!.” will be rightfully laughed at.

Rich people buy things. News at 11.

Trump uses money from his “Foundation” to buy paintings of himself, Tebow helmets and to pay off court settlements and you think Clinton buying another house is the bigger problem?

Psss…

I hate to tell you…but there are a buttload (perhaps the biggest buttload in modern election history) of electors that are waffling between Trump and Hillary.

Screw this Trump does this, Hillary does that crap.

Tell me how Hillary/Bill just buying new McMansion could be a positive among those voters. AT BEST it neutral. At worst is is more shit she doesn’t need.

And yeah, Trump is ALSO probably (I’d bet my soul to be honest) doing similiar stupid shit.

The point being, when the race is tight…uhhhhh…don’t do stupid shit!

Well, of these “wafflers” you speak of, if their deciding factor is which one is less of an elitist, pretty sure Hilary still wins their vote.

Yeah, Hillary, don’t do stupid shit! Look at Donald, over there, he isn’t doing any stupid shit! Whatsamatta you, Hillary, with the stupid shit!

Apparently “undecided” is a term which you don’t quite understand.

This.

If she plans on moving into the White House, she’ll be living in the White House. She doesn’t need to buy a house in anticipation of getting a job that provides housing.
If I was wealthy and really liked my house I’d probably buy up the neighboring lots too. Why risk having neighbors you don’t like. If you own the property you get a say in who lives there.

In Clinton’s case I think she should by buying any neighboring house just so FOX News doesn’t move in and harass her.

If buying a house with one’s own money is what you consider stupid, I’d love to hear what you think about Trump’s three-gaffes-a-day habit.

I understand the term just fine. I think it is you that is having difficulty understanding what these undecideds are basing their vote on. Buying a house isn’t something that’s likely to turn the undecideds away from her. Not when it’s with respect to Trump.

Again.

What is the possible political UPSIDE to her/them doing this? What major political goal did she/they give up/compromise by NOT buying this house?

At BEST IMO it is neutral. Most likely is very minor backlash (but at this point it looks like every little thing counts). At worst it could (but low chance) turn into yet another “we don’t need this negative shit drama” event.

And again, for the umptempth fucking time…the Donald has done plenty/more of the same no upside/plenty of downside shit.

But the topic of this thread is the house purchase.

PS. I can NOT imagine anybody with any balls in her staff going “yeah, just buy another expensive assed house…no way this could be spun badly”.

And that gives me comfort. The Other People have it coming.

Having completed a review of my charitable giving, I am pleased to report that I gave no money to the Trump Foundation.

A quick google search show that the average house price in that area is well over three quarters of a million dollars. So it’s not like they bought a mansion among a row of shacks.

Also, if you’re going to rip on them for having a whole two houses, what about GW Bush? The Bush’s have a 1500 acre ranch (with helicopter hanger, guest house, extra garage, and 5 bedroom ‘mobile home’ as well as a very large manmade (stocked) fishing pond and swimming pool). As a retired politician, they only for weekends and holidays. IOW, it’s their second house. How dare they, Barbara didn’t even make a run at president.

Maybe – just maybe – this wasn’t about politics, but real estate.

Seriously, if you have an opportunity to buy a house, do you think you can just ask the owner not to sell it for three months?

The most plausible scenario is that the neighbor wanted to sell his house, and he’d sell it to whomever is ready to pay him the price he wants. If that’s the case, the Clintons probably would have lost an opportunity to buy something they wanted. (Yeah, boo-hoo, I know.)

Always surprises me when free-market conservatives such as yourself have to be reminded how business works.

And don’t forget McCain couldn’t remember how many houses he owned.

Eight of 'em. (As of2008)
