A blizzard is coming!?

ShelliBean, you acclimate. I go through a couple of weeks in the fall/early winter where I am freezing and then that stops, it’s like my body switches to Winter Mode. Freaked me right out the first fall I was here.

It missed my parents by a few miles; it skirted just east of them. Oh well.

Enjoy! Almost 2 feet on the other side of the Hudson too. My wife has been stuck on the Express Lanes of the GSP with no exit since 6pm yesterday; spent the night there stuck in her SUV. She tells me there are people stuck in cars all around her too as far as the eye can see see.
She has off this week though.

I actually got handed a letter with the SoNJ stamp on the top exempting me from state of emergency road travel bans and an automated call last night reminding me that people are depending on me to make it to work.
(Yeah, yeah, I’m so important, but you won’t make me permanent or offer me health-care or benefits? Go Jump.) My boys are in their Pj’s, fed, and with food in the fridge and the house is shoveled out. But there are no snow days or sledding for us. (Actually, I really miss sledding…)

Update- my wife says they are 5 rows of cars away from “digging her out”. I’m going to be kind & Not mention how I always ask her to take the Local side & never the Express side (its for Suckers). The local side would have had exits.

I got four feet. How? Well, it blew sideways. The neighbors got nothing: even their driveway was clear.

Power went out at 1215 … 10 minutes into the silent 1925 version of Wizard of OZ, which I was DVRing … <major GRRRRR!> and didn’t come back on until just after 4 am. I don’t think we lost any poultry though.

And mrAry left for the 50 mile drive in to work, and an hour after he left [or about the time he would normally have also already left for work by] his boss leaves voice mail on a phone that we almost never use because we dont give out the number and as it was a vonage phone hadn’t actually reset from the power outage because I never use it so I dont think to reset it … and I didnt find out until 8 am, by checking my email and getting the visual voicemail from the damned phone that mrAru should have stayed home and telecommuted.

Hey, whaddya know, we might get a foot of snow overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. Awesome!

Did the Mrs. get home, Count Blucher?

Yes, an hour after I got to work. There were 100+ cars that had drivers stuck around her too. The bust that got stuck made the news, but not all the cars that were with it.

In addition to the heavy snow and winds, there was thunder and lighning here, which always amazes me.

I know! Whats up with that? It never used to happen & now its 1-2 storms a winter. I’m thinking it’ll be the title of a new Bond movie. I can almost hear Tom Jones now…

“…and he Strikes… like Thunder-Snow!!!”
