A Cheap Chawklit MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 82 and rain. I will believe that when it happens. We did get some rain overnight but not the deluge promised by TWPTB. Today shall be devoted pretty much to sloth cause I deserve sloth. I have been way to busy these past five days, especially for a retired drain on society. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house, so that will take care of sup.

OK, since I made it a topic, who is goin’ to attempt cheap chawklit buyin’ today? We’re tryin’ to be better about keepin’ so much junk foodstuffs around da cave so we won’t be. Plus, don’t wanna leave da cave until time to go to men’s night. I have peopled waaaaay to much as of late.

Here it is y’all! Carry on with the topic or hijack away!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Good morning.

It’s 47 degrees and wet outside. This is the first time temps have been above the 30s in quite a while. It’s supposed to be showery or wet for at least the next week.

I will not be going for cheap chawklit. All the Easter candy at my local Safeway was gone on Saturday and they were already putting up Memorial and Independence Days stuff. It’s just insane and ridiculous.

I was going to go into the office today, but I just couldn’t force myself to get up. So, I’ll go tomorrow. I’m just wiped. I need to start forcing myself though because starting the 8th, my telework schedule will kick in. I’m going to miss deciding on my own when to go into the office.

We had a low-key get-together with the kids and grandkids yesterday. We had a little Easter egg hunt and Zoe was very good at finding them. Adam wasn’t super interested in finding eggs and putting them into a basket, but I finally got him going and he found a few. It was fun to hear him shout “yay!” when he succeeded in finding an egg. It’s apparent he really loves his Grandpa and all of his could swear we heard him say “Grandpa” several times. He loves me too, but Grandpa was his ultimate favorite for climbing all over. He likes to grab my hand and take me on walks around the yard or house. He babbles the whole time, so it’s going to be fun when he really starts talking. Zoe was having fun with Grandpa and Grandma too, but she was having a bit of a day. There were some melt-downs, but she did alright.

Well, I need another cup of coffee. It’s going to be a day and I need to gird my loins.

Mornin, all! Off to the shop, I gotta deliver a little thing today, the very nice gift shop lady asked me to make her a slat-wall (that stuff on the walls in shops that they can put hooks and hangers on) thing, so I did.

In other news, we’re under a winter storm warning for tonight, calling for 6-10 inches. That really is some BS!

Woke up to see snow on the grass and cars. The streets are wet but clear. Someone has fooled Mother Nature! Cue Chiffon margarine commercial.
The stores here never put holiday candy on sale. It gets whisked off for return or stuck in the basement for next year.

I girded my loins once. Walked funny for a week.

Floor refinishers come today, so we’ll be camped in the RV for a couple of days while it dries. We can still use the kitchen and the downstairs toilet. The next two weeks before listing is going to be BOR-ing.

Fuuuuck. I may have to start using you all as therapy again. Mrs Magill’s last mammogram had some anomalies in it. She’s very busty, so she’s used to that. Mammogram number two still showed the anomaly, so they did a biopsy. Now the oncologist wants her to come in tomorrow to discuss the finding “and options.” That’s never a good sign when they don’t want to discuss over the phone.

I’ve known four people (including my aunt and grandmother) who had breast cancer. I’ve never known anyone who survived breast cancer.

Thanks for being there, mumpers.

We had a good weekend, though. I gave blood on Saturday, then we went to the nursery and got some tomatoes, peppers, zucchinis, and cucumbers. Squeaky was confused about the kind of nursery we were going to, but didn’t want to ask, in case he had missed something major. He expressed relief when we came home with plants rather than a baby.

I’m so sorry - you and Mrs. Magill must be out of your minds with worry. Best wishes to you guys, and let us know how the appointment goes.

I’ve got limited news from the weekend, though apparently I hid the eggs so well it ticked the kids off, unlike in previous years when I hid the eggs in such obvious places it was kind of laughable. Of course, arguments ensued. My hints were too irritating. Overlyboy stole overlygirl’s hint and therefore her egg. I guess that’s what siblings do - argue over silly things. I just appreciate that they still want to hunt eggs and get excited over chocolate for breakfast.

After that, mom came over and we ate lamb and potatoes and greenbeans and eventually, tiramisu cake. I don’t think we’ll be getting discounted chocolate this year, unless they happen to have additional Reese’s eggs. Well, off to work. I’m showered and look marginally presentable. I didn’t run/waddle because I’m going to a spin class tonight, so I’m sure this time tomorrow I’ll be walking funny.

Morning all. Ended up not getting to bed until after midnight so stayed in the sack until after 8am, so the week is off to a slow start. Shopping-n-sammich-n-swimming are on the agenda, the rain is gone but it’s only getting to 61F today, but we’re looking at the mid-80’s by Saturday, so perhaps time to take the heavy winter comforter to the dry cleaners and break out the summer comforter.

Wizard, not good news indeed. Hope it’s not serious and is treatable. Survival rates are pretty good according to a quick peek, but still…{{{Wizard family}}}

wet one, wondering when it will stop. My birthday’s this week, I remember being told there was a snowstorm the day I was born in N. Ohio (I was too busy being born to notice), but 25 years in Ali-bama and the Muddle East have made me forget that part of life. Good luck.

Taters, sounds like you had a nice day with the kids. Understand why you feel wiped out.

I don’t keep chocolate in the house, as I will not leave it be and will over-consume. For the same reason French Fries and Oreo Cookies and Potato Chips are never on my shopping list; I’ve too large now and eating those daily would get me way past any hope of exercise. Going to have to add graham Crackers to the list, too (why is everything that tastes delicious so bad for you??)

OK, need to get ready to face the morning stuff. All y’all take care.

{{Wizard family}} Hope the news is better than expected. Waiting is no fun.

Last week I ordered, and received, a box of American treats, which included a can white cheddar cheese balls. The can said 3 servings. According to my mouth, there was only one. Good thing I can’t find them on the shelves here.

I did also order some marshmallow topped Reeses peanut butter cups. I’m expecting that Reeses will not be making those for lunch. I could be wrong.

It’s warm and dry, so I have to water plants. Don’t like watering plants, but we got a new tree last fall and I can’t ignore it, if I want it to survive.

I had also transplanted some pansies which came in a flower pot arrangement. I also transplanted the hyacinths and tulips, but don’t have a lot of hope that they will come back next year. I guess we’ll see.

Today is day 4 of a 4-day weekend. I am slothing hard, but also working through my list of things to do. Probably should iron. First, though, going for a short walk. Might be the last chance to do so this week - it’s going to be busy.

Stayed conked out till almost 10:30 a.m. after my pasta Second Supper (from the tail end of last week’s MMP) so I accomplished my goal of sleeping in for once.

… woke up to snow. :snowflake: Locals must be pissed at winter’s reprise.

They make Independence Day candy now??

A cow-orker tested positive for COVID. I suspect she’s unvaccinated, but I don’t know. Anyway, everyone has to have a COVID test now. I just took my home test, and it came back negative. I emailed the results to El Jefe from the app, and he replied ‘Excellent. Thanks.’ I know he’s not in the orifice yet. He may be on the ferry.

Anyway, here’s a bit of fun for a Moanday morning.

Now that I think of it, she may have been vaccinated as a condition of seeing a new grandchild last year.

So I was heaving in Secondary this morning, and the 200 belt kept jamming. Then I found out why: It was all Blueberries on the 200 sort table. A Blueberry jam, if you will. It’s 45 and rainy, I did get Princess Pretty Paws to pee at least.

I read that as “on the furry:fox_face:
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Keeping appendages crossed for MrsMagill magic. If it eases your mind a bit, everyone who I know who’s been diagnosed with breast cancer has survived. The Sarah Cannon Cancer Center here has a pretty good reputation (my SIL was treated there).

Happy Dyngus Day!

I had an allergist appointment this morning and needed to take care of some business today, so I played hooky. Now, I’m just chilling.

We had thunderboomers here last night and it was raining buckets when I got up, so I waited until time to take a shower before taking Nelson out. Now, it’s just trying to keep warm.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy Moonday!

It was chilly, 36 degrees, at the park this morning.
Only two people and three dogs.

Now it’s 38 degrees and snowing hard.

I don’t know what’s up with Barky, she hasn’t answered my morning text, or been to the park for three days. Coco joined Lucy on the small dog side the last time Barky was there, and didn’t hide the reason why. Or maybe because I kind of agreed with her when she said all of her dogs have been good dogs except maybe Barky.
Then again, maybe she just went out of town for the holiday.

My son goes back to irk tomorrow. His unemployment still isn’t right, but I’ve heard it can take months to fix.

I’ve got my tax extensions ready to mail. I clipped them to the front door, it the mailman doesn’t take them, then I’ll have to run them to the post office tonight when I get off irk. I never know where to put outgoing mail.

I finished the “little kid helps in the kitchen” stool for my friends. Thanks for the advice on colors. I think it turned out nicely. You can’t really see it in this pic, but I CNC’d his name into the top cross piece.

wizard All the best wishes for you and your family!

Wizard, you know me–in a sense, anyway, right? I’m 4 years post-op. My sister is 15 years post-cancer. My good friend is 8 years. May I offer a little advice? First, if your wife been getting regular mammograms, odds are the cancer is in situ–contained, often in a milk duct. Mine was “invasive” (grown beyond the duct) because I stupidly kept forgetting to get a mammogram. (My old doc’s office had scheduled them for me.) Even then, due to type and stage, I didn’t need chemo. The surgeon told me almost all breast cancers are very slow-growing.

Second, when you research, as you probably will, keep in mind something else the surgeon told me: almost every study you read is out of date. That’s because studies tend to occur over a period of 5 or 10 years, and in the interim, new treatments–They’re coming thick and fast --are developed that improve the odds.

Hugs and good wishes to you and Mrs. Magill.

Morning, mumpers!

Wizard appendages crossed that the news is better than expected. I know a couple of folks who have had breast cancer and are still going strong so stay positive.

I had a very mini-mumpfest last night when we met up with Shibboleth and his partner. He and I are friends on farcebook and I had messaged him asking for recommendations for restaurants etc. He was incredibly helpful with lots of good ideas and also weather advice after our snowy adventures! It was good to meet up and thank him in person for all his help.

Today we are off to investigate another of his recommendations for a local bbq place. Cookie, I might have asked you as well if I had known that you were in Portland too, but also know the house move has been taking up so much of your time.

Blueberries?

(sigh) Must get taxes done, don’t wanna. Very tired for about the last week.

@Maus_Magill, FWIW my mother-in-law had had breast cancer before she and I met in 1994. She lived until 2021 (I’m told some other form of cancer got her).
