A Cheap Chawklit MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and mostly N.O.S. with a predicted high of 83 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I was a slugabed until eight o’ clock. The shock! It was a good sleep, however. There are no big plans for the day which is, as always, fine by me. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

{{{Nettie}}} I am so glad it was not a stroke. Please monitor that blood pressure regularly and take it easy over the next few days.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Oh, {{{nettie}}}, I’m so glad it wasn’t a stroke, but jeez - that’s terrifying. Take care of you and no doomscrolling. I’m assuming you’ve had a follow up scheduled?

Ratty congrats on the swimmage - even when I was on swim team, that was the hardest sport for me. Nearly a mile is really impressive. And nellie, I’m so glad you were able to get out for your walk & workout.

I didn’t work out at all yesterday and my partner bailed on me this morning. I’ll probably head out for a stroll by myself. I was feeling pretty ground down last night so I went to bed early and woke up feeling way better. Even my brain feels less cloudy, which is nice. I’ll probably take it easy and just use it as an excuse to listen to podcasts before the workday really gets going.

This weekend the husband & I will be celebrating year 18 of wedded bliss by going to Lowes and getting boards and paint for the closet in the hall. The previous owners left a pretty funky smell in there that we’ve never addressed, so we’ve pulled out the shelving, Looks like it’s a combination of the house being old and maybe way back when it was first built the owners might’ve been smokers (we’ve never looked that closely but the walls seem a little…golden). Time to paint the closet to seal the smell in and slap something new up that doesn’t smell smoky/mothball-y.

Morning all. With the mornings getting brighter, it’s harder to sleep in, up about 7:15am today and took the recyclables bin out to the curb (not enough trash to put that bin out). Not much planned for today, some swampy-scale sloth is likely, outside of gym and walk, since the weather remains nice and is supposed to get near 80F today with a chance of rain this morning.

{{{nettie}}}, I really hope you’re doing better, whatever it was it had to be scary as heck, glad it wasn’t a stroke but sticking me with needles would probably raise my blood pressure. Take care.

Unknown, lovely little story; I’ve never smoked, either cigarettes or weed and like Taters, I hate the smell of smoke; but I am also of the opinion that what’s good for you is not my damn business, so enjoy.

nellie, I’ll be riding (with friends) the AMTRAK Coast Starlight from Seattle to Portland after my cruise; enjoy your trip (and we want pictures of the dress, of course).

OK, need to finish the morning browsing and prepare some sustenance to break fast, so all y’all take care.

nettie I’m glad it wasn’t a stroke. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Woke up early from a very bad dream about my ex and still can’t quite chase away the lingering emotional ick. Why brains insist on thrusting us back into situations we’ve escaped is beyond me. Also, my right eye is swollen almost shut for some weird reason.

nettie, I’m relieved it wasn’t a stroke, but like wordy, I’m wondering about follow-up appointments, especially if it was a TIA. I hope your household can rest up today.

taters, happy anniversary!

I got just that far at 7 a.m.-ish when my fingers slipped, the options for reasons why you’re reporting a post popped up, and the Reply option disappeared. I thought I’d flagged my own post, but I guess I just found a new rabbit hole. My life seems to be pockmarked with 'em. Better than badger holes, I guess!

My eye is less swollen. I’m going to head to the store to get my second booster. The SpikeVaxx is supposed to be in by 11. After that, I’ll see where my feet take me. I felt fine after booster #1, so I’m assuming I will this time, too.

It’s not going to be anything fancy. I should’ve taken photos of the pouffy dress. It was enormous and had a weird faded-circle pattern. I repackaged it and left it at the right apartment. I hope the person it was supposed to go to likes it more than I did.

shoe, glad you slept well and are feeling better.

Afternoon, mumpers! This time I’m absolutely sure it’s afternoon as I’m back at home. Stuff has been unpacked, been to the corner shop for milk so we can have cups of tea, and the first load of laundry is on.

Nettie so sorry to hear about your trip to the ER, I hope they do all the follow-up stuff and find out what’s really going on. That must have been such a worry for you.

shoe good to hear that you slept well and feel better today.

*nellie I hope your eye gets better soon, doesn’t sound too good when you want to be out and about, but also good to hear that your back pain is almost non-existent.

That’s about all I can remember for now, have read much and retained little. We have no plans for tonight, got some catching up to do with ourselves first. Plans for tomrrow

Nurse Boo here. Yep, you wanted instant IV access at all times. Anti-coagulants you want in you 30 seconds ago, not after someone has struggled 15 minutes to get an IV. Having two lines is even better.

Whoo! Big s-i-g-h of relief from the prairie grasslands one latitude below you.

I highly recommend this. May seem pricey at first, but it works on ‘golden’ maybe smoker’s residual smell.

In that case, I highly recommend some day drinking, a la swampy.

No hurry. I have a new book group at my library I’m going to try tomorrow, part of my re-joining the world post-the-worst-we-hope of Covid. Done some Zoom book clubs in the past two years but this will be my second in-person for real one.

Got to head to the library and pick up one of the author’s books and read a few hours of it before the noon meeting tomorrow. I actually read the topic book a few years ago so I’m going to refresh my memory of the author’s style with a subsequent mystery. It’s a mystery set in the Sandhills of Nebraska, with a contemporary woman Sheriff as the protagonist. I love our Sandhills so I’ll enjoy the setting. [my attempt at being uncharacteristically positive-a stab at ‘my coffee mug is half full’]

Short heaving today. But I got a load of laundry going before naptime.

Glad it wasn’t a stroke nettie.

Gordie would freak if that happened. He’s used to the human falling, unable to get up or speak intelligibly, or as he calls it “You went out to the pub, didn’t you?”

It appears we have signal off the NC coast, even tho I can’t see land. We’re supposed to get to the Bay around 7 tonight, then to Baltimore by 6 or so tomorrow morning.

Hip, hip hooray, mooom is back! Can’t wait for the shipboard stories. >boo wandering off to fetch a mug of coffee to enjoy the Hot Tub Follies<

Since DH and I are non-drinkers, Allie isn’t used to that at all. She still seems a little bothered.

Still feeling a bit tired, but otherwise “normal” (however you define that word). May go back to bed in a little while. DH stayed home, since by the time we got home last night, it was about wake-up time for him. No, he probably should not have proceeded to drive to a construction site and play with power tools, and he didn’t. Did shed the bandages on my hands.

Today is definitely sloth day.

The floor refinishers finished finishing today. They were Romanian, not Finnish. Tomorrow the gardener guy comes and spiffs the yard. Sunday is the neighborgs giving us a farewell brunch. Monday the cleaner comes. Tuesday the rental furniture comes. Wednesday we schlepp all our schitt out to the garage. Thursday we go live. A good friend has invited us to spend time at their place during the listing period, so we gonna do that.

Eek! Sending {{{hugs}}}. I’m glad that they’ve kicked you loose, but like Allie, I am bothered. Have more {{{hugs}}}

taters congrats on quitting smoking! That’s hard. Good for you.

  • snickers in same wedded bliss *

Right now, the Coast Starlight is my favorite train. I’d like to do some of the famous ones in Canada and Asia one of these days, but until then…

Nellie side question, sorta - has anyone ever talked to you about MCAS? It would fit with your rash and swollen eye and such.

BooFae I admire you for unpacking so quickly. I’m terrible at that. I’m much more likely to pour myself a drink and then into bed. I’m glad you’re home safe and sound. When do you get the cats back?

Time to start picking up the beer cans I guess.

Good. Take it easy. Embrace the sloth. Ohmmmmm

ETA: Cookie things are getting real! I hope it sells quickly and for loads more money than you expect. :four_leaf_clover:

I think we’re getting money from the re-fi today, which means that we’ve got the full down payment on the new place between that and some other things. This feels extremely strange, considering how much money it is.

I think we just got hail here, and we’ve been having rain showers off and on. It’s still snowing in the Sierras. The forecast is in flux. I’ll just keep thinking positive thoughts about a few more systems coming through. Let’s just put off the fire season as long as possible.

'Beamette is in the hospital starting Monday, so I’m doing a few things to get ready for that: making sure we have our prescriptions full and that sort of thing. They prefer to fill hers from their pharmacy, but we’re always supposed to bring her bottles with us. I’ve also booked a hotel. First I went budget, then I decided to splurge and get a room with a soaking tub. I’m looking forward to room service, a relaxing beverage, and soaking with a book to read.

Yoshi figured out the dog door! Yes, finally. He started opening it enough to peer through it yesterday, and today he worked up the courage to go through it. Hopefully Akiko will follow after soon. The treatment seems to be helping her lupus and I hope we can start tapering her soon.

Happy Friday Eve everyone!

That whole thing sounds really scary. You do have a follow up appointment with your regular doctor scheduled, right? TMI’s and strokes are serious stuff, you need to take care of yourself.

Rest and recover. Some kitty cuddles probably wouldn’t hurt at all.

Of course we are in different fields, but the main reason I am a retired government worker is because of the lack of pee testing. It was easier for me to get a job at the VA hospital than to get a job at McDonalds because I would never pass the test.

They are all different. Remember when you were a smoker and would once in a while bum a cig from someone who didn’t smoke your brand? Remember how that cig worked for the nicotine hit but not for the taste/feel/experience and you were still craving one of “your” smokes? (At least that’s how it was for me.) That’s how it is when a dedicated flower smoker feels when using a pen. Edibles are a whole different animal entirely.

I usually smoke outside and when I do smoke inside, I confine myself to my sewing room with the door closed so I don’t stink up the whole house. Is that something your husband might consider?

You’re a good one for volunteering to host evacuee critters jane the cane. The big shelter that I sometimes volunteer with when they get evacuees, hoarder removals or raid a puppy mill has already emailed me about doing some volunteer walking of the fire refugees from east Tennessee and I’ll likely pull a few hours in the next couple of weeks. Funny thing about it, I get bennies of doggy love (aside from Nelson) when that happens.

{{{seanette}}} I’m glad it wasn’t a stroke, but I concur about follow up with your regular PCP.

I came home from irk today to lawn guys. My complex has been in a contract dispute with the lawn care company and the last time the grass was cut was that warm spell in late February. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: There were quite a few places with grass taller than Nelson. I have to wonder if the code maintenance complaint that I filed online this morning had to do anything to do with it. :sunglasses:

I have to go to the doctor tomorrow, so I think I’ll pick up groceries whilst out. I’ll start a load of laundry before I go and finish the Friday chores Saturday.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! As promised, today was a day of sloth. OK, I did have to do the actual physical labor of turnin’ on the oven, removin’ the boxed (don’t judge) lasagna from the box, gettin’ it into the oven to cook, slice up bread and get the garlic and cheese on it, stick it in the oven to cook, not to mention the ardous task of openin’ up the bag sallit and puttin’ it in bowls. I left the task of clean up to OYKW. So some non-slothage happened. Today’s day drinkin’ was beerverages.

Our interim interim Priest is still hospitialized so he cannot be with us on Sunday. Thus we will do Ante-Communion, which is a service with everything but Communion. I get to be Officiant. I watched a youtube video on how to tie a cincture know since I have not done that in a while. I guess that also counts as productivity. I live a fun life.

talky sounds like quite the romantic anniversary thing to do. Givin’ each other the gift of a non-stinky closet.

nellie hope the eye is better now. Did the poufy dress look like a sweet sixteen birthday cake?

BooFae glad y’all made it safely back to the future.

Evening all. Did not do my afternoon gym visit today, first time in many weeks, so I may go this evening (they are open until 10pm). Now that I’ve gotten into the habit I don’t want to get lazy again. I did do my park walk. Did get some brain work in by solving a crossword puzzle and using the Cruise line app on the new phone to register my vaccination card (I’ll figure that %^&$&*^% thing out yet).

red, I may check around here to see if any places need volunteer walkers. Gets me exercise and doggy company, so win-win. And of course the complex was just doing the mowage out of the goodness of their hearts…

Seanette, you rest now. Let the animals keep you entertained, just take it nice and slow for a bit (Ol’Doc Rat’s medical advice).

Sunny, daughter to hospital, re-financing plans, doggie door…exciting life out there. Take care. Never been on the Coast Starlight, have ridden the Empire Builder, California Zephyr, City of New Orleans, and the Silver Meteor so far, doubt it will be the last one.

Cookie, sounds like a plan, hope everything goes according to it and that Murphy becomes confused on the way to your door.

I’ll admit to being a little nervous about being home by myself tomorrow, but DH does have to go to irk sometime. I’ll be spending a lot of tomorrow on the sofa, with my phone very close to me. I think the anxiety will calm down in a couple of days (stupid Wikipedia and the scary comments about risk of significant stroke in the next few days!).

I don’t actually have a PCP, need to get going on contacting Covered California to find coverage within financial range. Might have to consider biting the budgetary bullet once DH’s health coverage from employer kicks back in and adding me to his, given this between-jobs thing and how expensive COBRA gets. We do have that for DH, since he’s diabetic and needs monitoring. I’m normally healthy enough to not worry so much about it.

I did order myself a wrist blood pressure monitor. The Jungle says I’ll have it tomorrow. My upper arms still feel a bit tenderized from equipment used last night. Larger upper arms are a problem with blood pressure cuffs.

Went and got boosted. Pharmacist and I had a nice chat about how terrible COVID is and how discouraging it is that people don’t learn from history. Very dis\spiriting for us retired history teachers. I get 10% off groceries, though!

I then set out for a long walk. However, a mile in, the sun decided to punch out early, and clouds and heavy rain took over. I thought about soldiering on, but I chickened out.

Not that specifically, but I have been diagnosed with a mast cell disorder. I get shots monthly for it, and they’re helping, but today’s swollen eye (which is gone now) might be from that. My eyes are so screwed up, though, that it’s hard to say. I’ll talk to a doc about the MCAS, though. Thank you!

You crack me up. If you do that, I’ll work on getting pizza out from under the sofa cushions and cleaning under the–OK, whose SpongeBob adult onesie is this?

I think pampering yourself with a hot tub and room service sounds like just what the doctor ordered. Speaking of which…

Now I wanna call you Doc Rat.

nettie, you not having follow-up makes me very nervous. I completely understand not being able to afford it, but it seems to me you need medical eyes on you. @BippityBoppityBoo what do you think?
