A Chronicly Early MMP

How densely planted are we talking here? If they’re too thickly planted they’ll choke each other out and you won’t get any, but 1-2 inches apart is excessive for a pot, IMHO.

In the absence of having a my own space, I’m now gardening by proxy…

Wow, I had to run out to the virtual microbrewery for virtual growlers for the potluck. It’s called “Smokey the Beer” and it’s really good! Everything is set up. I’m also bringing molasses cookies, fresh baked.

Good thing I made a big batch of pulled poke - simmered in Sonny’s sweet BBQ sauce! Mega yum! With slaw and beans. Feel free to virtually dig in!

Just got off the phone with a friend from high school. She’s a receptionist with a law firm, which means she’s not working, since one can’t run reception from home, and she doesn’t have a computer, so she can’t do anything else for work either. I haven’t seen her in probably 5 years, but her voice is still the same - funny how some things don’t change.

OK, time to try modifying this stupid mask pattern. Dammit.

I don’t have buns for the pulled poke, but it can be eaten with a fork, no?

Did anyone bring a virtual vegetarian option? I don’t pretend to eat imaginary meat…

I also have some fried corn fritters. I got the recipe out of a special cookbook called “A Feast of Ice and Fire” I gave it to my sister just short of two years ago. Its a real book with recipes for foods mentioned in the Game of Thrones series. I want to try the noneyed chicken later.

So yes, the molasses cookies and the fritters are meatless.

A large pot of virtual Minestrone soup is as Vegan as I get

I’m a carnivore at heart but I’ll have some of that soup. For spring it’s been kind of chilly, although today is nice.

I’m not vegan, I’ll eat eggs and cheese.

I’ve got some bean chilli, but I didn’t get round to cooking much today. It’s a bit late here, it’s really booze and chocolate time in my time zone.

I’m an ovo-lacto-pesco-carno-vegetarian.

Well, I got a pot of my corn, tomato and black bean mix. Plus home made mac n’ cheese, of you do cheese.

Gimmee some of that mac and cheese. I never met a cheese I didn’t like.

Sorry I’ve been MIA. You know that old saying, “If you can’t say anything nice about anyone…”? Yeah, I didn’t have anything nice to say about myself or my life–not that anything’s been really wrong–plus I got frustrated by all the Gateway Time-Outs.

I’m bringing cornbread to the virtual potluck. Hope that’s OK. My favorite cornbread recipe, one I’ve used for 30 years, isn’t sweet and fluffy but savory, very moist, and a little dense, with a buttery flavor (I’m guessing due to all the butter. I’m smart like that). I shall also bring my favorite salad recipe. It’s not vegan, but it is vegetarian, and those so inclined can remove the tiny cubes of cheese. It’s got toasted cashews, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds in it, so it does have virtual protein!

I did have one very nice thing happen. I always love hearing from former students, and I’m blessed to have quite a few who keep in touch. Yesterday I got a video from one of them thanking me. He’s been incredibly successful in the business world–not due to anything I ever taught him–and wanted me to know if I ever need anything, he’d be happy to help. Such generosity really made my week.

OW, thanks for the peek into the world of drive-by visitations. While it seems odd to have it be so removed, it’s nice that the bereaved got a moment with each attendee.

flyboy, I got a kick out of the sativa mistake. I guess there’s no better place to get the virtual munchies than at a virtual potluck!

Moooom, I’m going to have to try that potato pancake recipe. I love potato pancakes. A little dollop of sour cream or creme fraiche, a side of bacon, and I’m in heaven. This recipe looks like a good balance of eggs and flour. I’ve only made potato pancakes from fresh potatoes. If I use the frozen hash browns, do I need to squeeze the moisture from the thawed potatoes, or is there too little to worry about?

Well, I got a pot of my corn, tomato and black bean mix. Plus home made mac n’ cheese, of you do cheese.

**nellie **- the thawed hash browns, at least the ones I used, weren’t wet at all. That’s why I use them - shredding and drying regular spuds is too much like work for me. The only trick is to remember to thaw them in time. I did it last night - left them in the fridge overnight.

I’ve given up on masks for today. Second variant isn’t quite right, but I have an idea for version 3. Tomorrow.

And yes, Cupcakes, pulled poke doesn’t need to be in a sammich. It’s versatile that way!

The cornbread sounds good, I like the kinds that aren’t fluffy or cakelike, but firm and not so sweet.

I may not be getting the cat her own chickens or her own little kitty couch, but I got her one of these because it looks like a roller coaster and since she’s named after a roller coaster, it seemed mandatory. It came today and she’s losing her little kitty mind right now playing with it, especially when the motion-activated lights come on. Table tennis balls fit also so I added a couple of those too.

Well, I got a pot of my corn, tomato and black bean mix. Plus home made mac n’ cheese, of you do cheese.

Quoth the hamster: “504”:smack:

It’s OK nellie. And cornbread is good.

Howdy I am bringing a giant salad with my neighbors homegrown tomatoes. I made a big bowl of mac and cheese yesterday.

I ran to the store and there was two packages of paper towels on the shelves. I got one of them. The aisle was full of empty boxes so I assume they don’t even bother to put the stuff on the shelves neatly.

We got 3 1/2 inches of much needed rain.
