No, I don’t hate skunks, altho I’m less than thrilled when their scentiferous aura fills the air. I just don’t want Higgs to meet one and be “blessed” by it.
Lunch break - busy busy morning!
And today my sister will finally get her new knee. She should be going under the knife any time now. With luck, the surgeon won’t have to mess up the tat on that knee.
I notice a disturbing lack of chocolate at my desk. Dammit.
I almost got sprayed once. I was running down a trail and suddenly there was a skunk!
As soon as I saw those stomping feet, I did a 180 and ran out of there a lot faster than I ran in.
I don’t like PETA either, crazy is crazy no matter what side you’re on. I’ve read about a few instances where landlords were members of PETA and if their tenants had any kind of pest problem they had to use humane methods to remove the pests - even if those pests were ants or roaches. They were supposed to be caught and relocated.
Sorry, I think stomping on a roach’s head is humane; it’s quick and painless. Don’t give me all the crap about mice, roaches, and ants won’t come into a clean house. Yes they will.
I’m rather bored today, which is a good thing I think.
Blurf I went to the knee man and got the process started to get some knee juice hopefully before the end of the week or for sure next week. He did prescribe pain meds. So I am supposed to be on vacation but alas I am at irk. Maybe I can take off tomorrow and Thursday and some of Firday then three day weekend. I love my job but today for the first time I feel like just quitting as i can never have any time off. Weekends don’t count. Why earn leave it I can’t use it? So frustrated. and in pain and grouchy from not smoking for 18 days. Blurf is me.
I think my son is going to be mad at me but I sent the breeder an email and asked about the puppy. Somebody else adopted him, but she has several litters due at the end of June, so I am going to talk with her later and put in a deposit to get one.
Maybe by then he will be ready, although I doubt it. He thinks it’s disloyal to Mackie to get another dog, and he thinks it will be unfair to the new dog to expect him to be a replacement for Mackie.
Was 40 minutes late due to the horrible Manhattan/Long Island traffic, jeebus, with my panic attacks that wasn’t a good combination. The show was great though.
I’ve been wanting take my son for a while now as I loved the circus when I was kid, though back then and where I lived, it was more of a Carnivale really. They took over a huge Outdoor field with a lot of games and rides and food and other shows outside, and then the big top proper where the main even happened, was at the center of it all.
Swampy glad you could be there for JD’s dad. Hope he’s able to be more responsible in future.
Butters yay for 18 days! Why can’t you take time? Is it because you have staff leaving or is it because your boss is being a jerk face? If the latter, if you have the leave, schedule the time and take it.
Mooomm If the worse actually happens, and a skunk skunks Higgs, let me know. I have a scientifically based recipe that will actually take the stink out. It breaks down the bonds in the chemical that causes the smell. I had a dog that made it his life’s work to kill skunks. He didn’t care if he got sprayed. We lived in the country, so he found several a year. Out of desperation I finally did enough research to find something that worked (not that I invented it, just that I found it).
Howdy Y’all! I’ve been to the nursin’ home which is all the adultin’ I can manage for one day. Got into a hellacious tstorm on the way up. OYKW is bringin’ me dindin from Sonny’s tonight. YUM! OK, a coupon is involved, but coupons are how we roll. Ima get St. Louis style ribs, baked beans, a baked sweet N.O.T. and corn bread. I shall also have a big ol’ Sonny’s sweet tea with lemon which is one of life’s great pleasures.
Sunny JDD and Sis have gotten “Come To Jesus’s” from JDD Partner and from Sis’s Pastor (who was there with Mr. Frank and I for several hours last night). Plus they are due at least one more from OYKW and me. I think the point shall be gotten across.
I seem to have hurt myself yesterday. My left elbow is quite sore. I was thinking I would mow the back yahd today and dump the clippings behind the studio. The ‘yard debris’ cart is full and they won’t pick it up again until next Monday. I may have to let that go until tomorrow.
After mowage yesterday I went to the store to get something I could throw on the grill 'cause I forgot to get something out of the freezer and it was 91 Merikan degrees out there and I didn’t want to cook inside. I got some Johnsonville beer brats and some pre-rubbed pork ribs, on sale. we had the brats last night with sides of deli salads (also on sale). Tonight I’ll do the ribs on the grill. You’d be surprised what you can cook on a grill. You can even cook pizza on there.
Did I tell ya’ll I can’t wear contacts for the next several weeks and possibly never again? The eye surgeon wants to take some fiddly measurements of my eyes and the contacts leave lasting distortions on the lenses, so I’m not supposed to wear contacts for six weeks before the measuring, and probably not after, until she does the surgeries. So I’m wearing my old glasses. The problem is that with my glasses I have little to no depth perception, which makes driving an adventure sometimes. Not that much of a problem in my little small town, but I don’t feel confident to go into Portland at all.
I’m told that Medicare will pay for the cataract surgery, which is good.
I got a letter from my dentist telling me that my dental implant work will cost me $3900.00 dollars! And this is the less expensive dentist I switched to cause my old dentist wanted too much for a simple crown. Medicare won’t pay for dental work. I guess they figure we can gum our food.
I think the most ambitious thing I might do today is go to Bi-Mart, if I can remember why I wanted to go there. Life is just full of surprises for us old folks.
At my last job, I had a 401k, and when I took this new job, I rolled the old fund into the new one, as is fairly typical. Bear in mind, I left the old job more than a year ago. Today I got an email from the company that managed the 401k there - I’ve got a check for $167 and change on the way - apparently when they rolled the old fund, there was more coming that I didn’t know about. So yay for surprise money!
I’ve ordered pizza for supper. I can pretend it’s because of the extra $$ but truth be told, I probably would have ordered anyway. Don’t feel like cooking. So :p.
It was a crazy busy day. I’m glad to have a chance to chill.
I have always been a circus fan as well, right down to watching the Bert Parks-hosted Circus TV series every Friday night (at least, that’s when it aired in San Francisco) in the mid-1970s. I also saw Ringling Brothers during its 100th Anniversary tour in the early 1970s.
I never did like the “animals pretty much just standing there doing relatively simple tricks and it being considered a big deal just because they’re so large” acts. Acts with a group of trained dogs, and horsemanship acts, I’ll watch and enjoy, but I just never got into elephant or lion/tiger acts, probably in part because it took forever to get the lions/tigers back into their cages at the end of the act.
One thing surprises me; why don’t they put more emphasis on touring smaller, one-ring shows, instead of just giving up?
Dindin has been ingested. YUM! I had two ribs leftover plus some beans and OYKW had one rib leftover plus some beans, so he has N.O.L. for tomorrow which makes him happy. It was a lot o’ ribs!
My sis is out of surgery and she posted in FB that it went well. She’s supposed to go to Mom’s tomorrow to begin recuperation. Here’s hoping it takes care of her pain.
