Just got done with the Champion Windows guy regarding replacement windows. He quoted a price 3-4 times as much as the other folks did, then called back and forth with his boss to bring it down by almost 45%. I didn’t say anything but was thinking “Do these guys figure I’m buying a used car or something?” So great quality or no, probably no Champion Windows for me.
But it did inspire me to clean up my house a little more, so it’s almost livable.
FCM, that big ball o’light has made an appearence over my place too.
peedin, it appears that it is an Irish bar, unless they have flowers, in whcih case it is an Iris bar…
swampy, glad the doc says you’re sticking around.
Sari, I thought fat and lazy was the usual way cats are…
No, cats are not typically lazy about 2AM when it’s necessary for them to charge around the house like their asses are on fire.
Nobody had any real work for me. Josh gave me a menial bit of busy work, and I heard Doug asking for people to have stuff ready for me on Tuesday morning. Kinda looks like taking Fridays off hasn’t hurt my productivity at all. Go me.
Adan is getting fat. I thought cutting out treats would help him lose weight.
I made a mistake though yesterday. I bought a different kind of cat food and he is pigging out on the new stuff, picking it out of the bowl and leaving the old flavor behind.
He seems to be a bit depressed or something, his eyes look sad.
He’s a lot quieter than usual, not as pesky. He’s not in my face as much as normal, and he usually sprawls out but now he is sleeping curled up.
I have developed a severe case of CAN’T, so no mowage will ensue today. No cookage either. Tomorrow I shall do better. After all, tomorrow is another day!
MOOOOOOM I’m sure doc would have noticed if’n I’d had skid marks or some such as part of the exam involved him checkin’ out things down thataway.
Big ball of fire in sky is gone, rain is falling and thunder has boomed. At least I got home before it hit, so there’s that. Not sure what I’m going to have for supper. There’s some rotissed chicken left from yesterday - I might make a sammich with that. I’s starting to feel hongree, so I need to decide soonly.
Well I had a one day vacay. Not at all impressed. Had I known I would have made better use of the time. I just had lunch at 5PM. Freaking Tourons can’t give me one stinking week. If anyone here is just a lowly worker and decides to be a manager don’t, just don’t.
We just had a short little power outage - about 45 minutes or so. It’s still raining and occasionally thundering, and there was barely enough light for me to start another hat. We should probably get an emergency light or two, just in case. Except in the 13 years we’ve been here, I don’t think we’ve lost power for longer than a couple of minutes more than half a dozen times. Once was it for 48 hours, but that was after a hurricane.
While we were in the dark, I called my sis. She’s got a pile of drugs and a lot of pain and her therapy won’t start till next week, thanks to the holiday weekend. She said her doc had to cut into her tat a little bit, but I think that was the least of her worries. Now the tough part begins - getting her mobility back.
It’s probably a good thing that DQ doesn’t deliver. I want a peanut buster parfait!!!
metal mouse, you do way better than I could in keeping up with a bunch of 10 year olds.
sunny, take whatever sports advice for tonight’s game that doggio gives you (personally, I’m hoping it’s Ottawa). In the final round, you’re rooting for the PREDS.
I will be so glad when the month end crap is done. When I got home tonight, I flipped on the bathroom light to commence cleaning. It tripped a breaker. I now know that my laundry room (where the breaker box is) lights are on the same circuit as the bathroom. The bathroom is now clean, kitchen counters wiped down, the apartment dusted and supper ready (sauteed odds and ends of vegetation, salad and baked chicken tenders).
The septic tank guy came today and we found out some interesting information. Namely the septic tank is a homemade concrete cavern made over 60 years ago when the original house was built. It’s not only a halfassed job, it’s also not up to code and probably hasn’t been cleaned out since it was built. Oh, and the cap also collapsed so now there’s a ‘temporary’ cap and we can’t walk on that part of the yard.
The septic guy however was very nice and full of fun stories about how this wasn’t the worst thing he’s ever seen.
Now Irish Storyteller is cursing the heavens that the septic tank wasn’t checked during the complete home inspection he had done five years ago when he bought the place. This is required now, but only since a couple of years ago. He’s also going over the homeowner’s insurance to see if they’ll cover a tank replacement.
I once made the mistake of watching a BIG GAME (I am ashamed to forget I don’t even remember the sport) at a friends house on the South Side when the Home Team won. I recovered from the experience; his car never did. :smack: I learned. I don’t garage The Beast often but when we may win/clinch at home …
