Is there a release date (or good guess) for a 6th book?
-
Are they doing movies for all the books, or just the first three?
Great books, btw. I was suprised that ‘childrens’ books could be so damned engrossing, even if they were fast reads.
Don’t know about a release date for the 6th book, but they are making movies of all the books. The 4th one is in pre-production now, with a scheduled release date of 2005, and Order of the Pheonix is scheduled for a 2007 release.
From the Nov. 21, 2003 edition of Bookseller:
“[J.K. Rowling’s agent] also confirmed that Rowling had started work on the sixth book in the series, though no release date has been set.”
According to the IMDB:
“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Filming is scheduled to begin in April 2004.”
The site lists a 2005 release date, as well as a 2007 release for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
As with all movie release date forecasts, believe it when you see the name on the marquee.
There is a rumor that the last two books (Goblet of Fire & Order of the Phoenix) may be made into two movies eached and released ala Kill Bill vols. 1&2 due to their extreme length. The only alternative would be to hack off most of the sideplots.
Supposedly J.K.R. has already written the ending of the series (not the entire seventh book, but the ending of it). She has definitely told some terminally ill children about plot developments in the rest of the series (all of them sworn to secrecy; none have doublecrossed her, though tabloids offered at least one money to do so).
Neat, a new and unusual board error ate my last response.
Regardless:
A) Damned wait. I just finished Order of the Phoenix, and went reaching for book 6. Ah well.
B) Thanks for the replies.
