The book, not the movie. I’m dyin here. Anyone know?
I’ve been wondering the same thing.
My friend’s little brother (I think he is 10) told me that it’s coming out in a month or so. I wouldn’t take his word for it, though…
Rest assured, no matter when it comes out, it’s gonna kick some serious ass.

I tired www.harrypotter.com but it’s all movie shit. (Which is not to say I didn’t hang out. Turns out I’m a Slytherin. Who knew?) I can’t find anywhere online to go for book news.
flup whatcho mama gave you
Amazon says that there is no news from the publisher yet.

Original release date had been for June 5th, IIRC. Then the publication date got pushed back to “We’re not sure when”. I’ve been keeping an ear out for it myself.
IIRC, they were pushing for a summer release to bridge the gap between the 1st movie’s DVD release in May and the 2nd movie’s premiere this fall. But I think J.K was several months late handing in the MS, so it’s probably more like an October/November release at this point.
The October/November time was what I last heard also.
Right after “The Last Dangerous Visions” comes out.
What they said. I believe the working title is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but I could be wrong.
I’ve heard differing stories on the release date. Some as early as June, others as late as December. Oh…and I was sorted into Gryffindor!
The latest news I’ve been able to find
Darned writers - why can’t they finish a book in a raeasonable amount of time?
Um, never mind…
Nonny “is also a slow writer” Mouse
Which means either:
a) The book is in such bad shape that whole fleets of editors are working around the clock to try and have it make some sense.
-or-
b) If it goes too much past July, it will be getting close to the release date for the second film. This would be a perfectly good waste of Harry Potter-mania. Better to delay the book until 2003, after the movie has run its course, then launch the book proper. This may have the side benefit of shortening the gap between books 5 and 6.
Or am I just a cynic?
BTW Nonny, from what I’ve read, the MS has been delivered.
I work in a library. I was told that according to Baker & Taylor, the wholesaler the library orders all their books from, that Harry Potter #5 is expected in January, 2003.
I remember reading that she is also working with the film adaptations. That must also contribute to any delay with a new book coming out. Don’t get me wrong, I want her to take her time and do the best job possible. It worries me how long it will take the entire series though.

When I originally pre-ordered the book at Amazon (about a year ago), it said it was due in March of this year. Obviously, this was not the case. Sigh.
But…“Postponed Indefinitely” definitely does not sound good.
