If that’s what you call mild TMI, DonkeyBear, I don’t want to know what you consider major TMI!
You’re not kidding about the Nurse Corps, Taters. And not just the Army’s – we know a woman who used to be chief nurse for the Public Health Service, and she is SCARY! Nice, but scary!
beebs, of course we missed you, and we shall miss you more. Are you sure you don’t want to just pony up the few $$ to rejoin and help support your favorite place to [del]mis[/del]behave?
Yes, Nava, it’s because eagles are on the endangered species list; I’m sure the ban was originally put in place to prevent folks killing the eagles for their feathers, as happened in the past. There are endangered raptors all over the world to which similar prohibitions apply, I’m sure. We learned this on our visit to the Birds of Prey Center in Boise – they had this cool display of all the various raptor programs around the world, and our guide gave us great info on a number of them and what they’re doing. Some very creative things; it was fascinating.
Once I’d calmed down, I was able to send a non-babbling email to Ex-Boss, who not only assured me just to wear anything comfortable, but also provided an actual visitors etiquette document. So now I know what to do during the Drum Dance, what to do about taking photos (ask first, and obey the MC’s instructions when he says no picture-taking), and to bring lawn chairs. Note to self: Since we’re flying into Madison and driving up, we need to pick up lawn chairs on the way. Also, take an umbrella for shade just in case since these days I avoid being out in the sun, even in such northern climes.
And we’re even going to take a trip up to another reservation to pick up more healing stones. Anybody have anything in particular they need a healing stone for? (Papa Tigs carries one all the time Ex-Boss gave him; we believe it helps because she believes it helps, and who’s to argue with thousands of years of tradition and belief? Not me, that’s for sure!)
By the way, gt, please put me down for the MMP on the 28th. We won’t be getting home in time for me to do the 21st, so that will give me a chance to organize my thoughts and photos.
Okay, I think I’ve finally settled down enough to actually get some work done. I took a nice long shower to help relax me and also threw the Kong for Isaac, so everyone’s settled down for their afternoon naps and all should be quiet. I’m actually a bit surprised at how I freaked out, but I guess it’s just the concept of the unknown and wanting to be respectful guests. Ex-Boss is a delightful (and beautiful!) lady, so it should be fun to spend some down time with her and her equally nice hubby.
But I can’t go anywhere till I get work done. I’m still babbling, aren’t I?
