A Creative MMP ...plus... It's Summer! A Garden Party MMP

Good morning my Mumper pals.

We’re going back to the Y tonight to work out, so hopefully we’ll be able to find out something about that guy, Mama Tiger. Yup, I knew that our new commander is your husband’s outgoing commander. I have no doubt she’s demanding. As you stated in your post, you don’t get to a star or two without being a demanding type of person. Also, she’s Nurse Corps, so well…lets just leave it at that.

Our change of command is the 24th, so everything is all about getting ready for that.

Nava, one of the reason that only Native Americans can have eagle feathers is because eagles are considered an endangered species here. The eagle is also one of our national symbols (that part I’m sure you knew).

Sigh, I guess I should get back to slogging through my projects here.

ETA: First on seven! :stuck_out_tongue:

:: snuggles :: I feel loved!

Hope the doggie is okay!

Just had a very disjointed conversation with The Guy - his Internet connection was wonky. Very frustrating.

So, do you guys miss my drama-filled life? Because I might be teetering on the edge of some more soap-opera stuff. There’s a guy at work - we were trainees together - that I’ve become friends with, and I’m a tiny bit afraid he might be developing a slight crush on me. He’s a few years younger than me but we have so much stuff in common - not the least of which is that we’re both Korean Americans with chips on our shoulders. We also both play guitar and are English literature majors. Anyway, he’s great fun to hang out with, and if it wasn’t for The Guy I would have jumped him long ago. :stuck_out_tongue:

Eh, I’m probably just being paranoid. But thought y’all might be amused by the potential for drama. Heh.

Thank God tomorrow’s Firday! My ONE day off.

Thanks, all for the kind (and/or dirty) words… We passed! She was very pleased and impressed with us. I’m too tired to go into more detail.

beebs darling, will you still be reading along while you are on hiatus? Or shall I have to travel over to Fathom a bit more often?

TVMan has suggested that I come over and visit for some appreciation in celebration of passing. However, today is my mom’s birthday and we’ll be going out to dinner later on. So I asked him for a raincheck.

SmartiePants: The age difference doesn’t bug me too much… It’s mainly his mom is a bit, well, crazy (we’re sitting in the backyard next door and can hear her shrieking at him because he was hanging out… one of the things being ‘why would they want you to hang out? They’re in their mid-twenties. you’re only sixteen, they must be up to no good!’ and a few days later was bringing us beer and chatting like we were old pals…) and who knows what she might do if she found out anything hinky was going on. He has to live with her still.

The rule came about anyway because the thought of dating someone younger than my brother just seemed weird.

So I guess it’ll have to stay with mild flirting and being friends for a couple years. Ah well.

Today its cold here. Supposed to rain, and maybe thundershower this evening. Been lots of weird weather here, even a few tornados/funnel clouds spotted which isn’t really usual for this area.

Maybe we ought to call CB Muppet, instead of Mahna[sup]2[/sup]

You guys are just easily overwhelmed, because I didn’t feel like there was anything but mild TMI in that post! And you can all blame swampy because he asked me for more details. And yes, I do have a thing for older men, but I thought we’d covered that with my endless stalking of you!

But I’m waiting with bated breath for the coveted TMI Cup.

And mousey, that sandwich sounds real tasty. I’m craving lunch right now - I haven’t eaten since last night!

If that’s what you call mild TMI, DonkeyBear, I don’t want to know what you consider major TMI!

You’re not kidding about the Nurse Corps, Taters. And not just the Army’s – we know a woman who used to be chief nurse for the Public Health Service, and she is SCARY! Nice, but scary!

beebs, of course we missed you, and we shall miss you more. Are you sure you don’t want to just pony up the few $$ to rejoin and help support your favorite place to [del]mis[/del]behave?

Yes, Nava, it’s because eagles are on the endangered species list; I’m sure the ban was originally put in place to prevent folks killing the eagles for their feathers, as happened in the past. There are endangered raptors all over the world to which similar prohibitions apply, I’m sure. We learned this on our visit to the Birds of Prey Center in Boise – they had this cool display of all the various raptor programs around the world, and our guide gave us great info on a number of them and what they’re doing. Some very creative things; it was fascinating.

Once I’d calmed down, I was able to send a non-babbling email to Ex-Boss, who not only assured me just to wear anything comfortable, but also provided an actual visitors etiquette document. So now I know what to do during the Drum Dance, what to do about taking photos (ask first, and obey the MC’s instructions when he says no picture-taking), and to bring lawn chairs. Note to self: Since we’re flying into Madison and driving up, we need to pick up lawn chairs on the way. Also, take an umbrella for shade just in case since these days I avoid being out in the sun, even in such northern climes.

And we’re even going to take a trip up to another reservation to pick up more healing stones. Anybody have anything in particular they need a healing stone for? (Papa Tigs carries one all the time Ex-Boss gave him; we believe it helps because she believes it helps, and who’s to argue with thousands of years of tradition and belief? Not me, that’s for sure!)

By the way, gt, please put me down for the MMP on the 28th. We won’t be getting home in time for me to do the 21st, so that will give me a chance to organize my thoughts and photos.

Okay, I think I’ve finally settled down enough to actually get some work done. I took a nice long shower to help relax me and also threw the Kong for Isaac, so everyone’s settled down for their afternoon naps and all should be quiet. I’m actually a bit surprised at how I freaked out, but I guess it’s just the concept of the unknown and wanting to be respectful guests. Ex-Boss is a delightful (and beautiful!) lady, so it should be fun to spend some down time with her and her equally nice hubby.

But I can’t go anywhere till I get work done. I’m still babbling, aren’t I?

It will be presented in a special ceremony later this evening by two girls.

WHAT? Did you-- Ohhh. I know what you were thinking, but don’t worry. It’s not that kind of cup.

Ooh, I can’t wait for the two girls presenting the one cup ceremony. Will refreshments be served?

:D:D:DYAY FOR SANITARY PIE!!! :D:D:D
So… you’re safe to eat…?

::waves to Haze. ‘Cos she’s so cute even the girls think so! (and I want to say “hi!”)::
And… if you have a really cute guy right there… I’m sure The Guy won’t find out. **We **won’t tell him, anyway. Just sayin’…

Sorry… I’m afraid I don’t swing that way… Ask uncle Swampy, he tried too! :stuck_out_tongue:

**Tigs **-- that sounds like an awesome event to witness. Also, what with **Muppet **and **Lili **finding they knew each other IRL, and now **PapaTigs **commander becoming Taters’… Small World Syndrome, anybody…?
Wait… who of you do I know IRL?

**Aleq **-- wrong wrist… :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi Beebs!! Don’t just up and leave us like that :frowning:

WOOO-HOOOOO! The boat is sold!!! We’re getting what we asked for too, no quibbling at all.

We’re taking it to the buyer’s bank this afternoon where we’ll do the title transfer, etc. I’ll finally be able to park in my garage!

I should buy a lottery ticket because I’ve had two pieces of good news this week: daughter got her first job ever and we’ve sold the boat.

beebs, what are we going to do without our resident troublemaker, huh? C’mon, you know you’ll miss us too much to part from us.

Pie, I’m glad the inspection went well.

Back from NOL– yum.

Very productive meeting this morning- feeling much better about the renovation plans for our office. I was able to implement some ideas that I think will work really well.

However, I find myself repeatedly in the position of overturning decisions our (new, not me) department chair has tried to put in place. And being listened to over him.

Odd.

Very odd.

ETA: Yeah Pie!

Well, I survived my first Midwest not-quite-a-tornado but still a really bad storm. It started hailing for a minute or two while I was at home for lunch, but then it let up and I headed back to work in rainy but not-too-awful weather. But when I got out to the corner (from our house, which is < 1/4 mile), the sky looked a bit green. And I know that’s a Bad Thing. By the time I got across the highway to turn towards work, it was like night time. A rainy, ominous-looking night time. The rain was coming down in sheets by the time I got the next quarter-mile to work. (All of 3/4 mile from home and under about 5 minutes travel time.)

I thought about staying in the car until it let up a bit, but by then the sky was almost aqua-looking and the storm seemed really bad. So I ran in. And got soaked. But I still think it was the right decision… when I got in they had just announced that everyone was to move to the interior hallways away from windows. So I hung out in the bathroom, trying to dry off. When it was ok to go back to our desks, I grabbed my fleece and went back to the bathroom and took off my wet t-shirt. My jeans are still soaked and cold but at least I don’t have that wet-and-stuck-to-your-back t-shirt feeling any more. Bleh. But at least the storm seems to be moving off now. Yikes that was kinda scary!

And one of my coworkers, whose parents live near here, said they just told him that a couple trees in their yard got blown down. I wanna go home!

I like these two statements when taken together.

My tummy is rumbly. I forgot to eat lunch until 3pm, at which point I felt too hungry to eat… yes, I know that’s weird, but that’s just the way I’m built.

I need more coffee, but the cafe is run by lazy bastards who think 3pm is a valid time to close up shop and I don’t have time to run across the street to Tim Hortons.

I also am craving chocolate… see above.

My eyes hurt.

Why doesn’t this spreadsheet end? Who thought 19K was a reasonable number of lines anyway? And WHO THE HELL STUCK ALL THOSE STUPID LINE BREAKS IN THERE FOR NO REASON???

My head is aching.

AAARRRGH.

/whine

I’m glad my drama amuses you, beebs. Update: Complicated talked to WOWCrack the other night and based on his observations on physical condition and the topic of the conversation (how WOWCrack almost kicked some guys ass), the steroids supposition is now moved into the “yeah, he’s on it” category.

Preparations to insert foot in ass as a propellant out the door are beginning. I’m going to alert Adopted Dad tomorrow so he can keep his Italian Girlfriend (a Baretta, if I’m not mistaken) within grabbing distance in case it’s needed. (By him. I don’t deal well with loudness.) You know, Just In Case the Worst Case Scenario happens. Hopefully we won’t have to call VBob down here to clean up afterwards.

I did not nap under my desk today. I did the first-grader’s nap instead (head down on desk).

And just to jump in on the mild TMI bandwagon, I thought I’d add some of my own:

The cranberry juice is working. I need to get another bottle of it and then I’ll be good. Homeopathy rocks.

Oh, and doggio, your coffee cartoon received high praise today from the Goddess of Archivin’ Work. It has been deemed Acceptable For the Coffee Cartoon Cabinet.

I guess that was a Freudian landslide there, taxi! snerk Well, like human like doggie I guess…

Yeah, good luck making me believe you’ve never played “The Stranger,” Nooner!

Donkeybear, here’s a hint–most hetero types don’t have much experience with entire fists going ANYWHERE, (let alone THERE) and straight women just think about baby’s heads and go “owowowowowowowowowow!

Haze, go ahead and have some drama–you’re a million miles from where you’d rather be and there’s no better way to make sure The Guy is THE Guy than to have a basis of comparison. You’re young yet, have fun… :stuck_out_tongue:

Yay for the clean bill o’health, Pie! See, we toldja you’d be fine…

tosses a Trader Joe’s Pound Plus bar of chocolate to Mahna[sup]2[/sup] There, that oughta hold ya for a minute or two!

My partner is not wanting to work at ALL today, so maybe we’ll just close up early and enjoy the day, which is not looking like it’s going to be nearly as hot as I feared, yay!

ETA: Spaz, Trader Joe’s carries concentrated cranberry pills which are like the nuclear rain o’death on UTI’s–very inexpensive, too!

I think today is an ice cream and chocolate-intensive day. Yes. It is. So decreed. Everybody go get [DEL]fat[/DEL] ready for winter.

KT made some heavenly chocolate frozen custard over the weekend. And we also went to Trader Joe’s and picked up some of their triple ginger cookies while we were there. I just had the brilliant idea that these two yummy treats should be put together. If I crumble up some of the cookies and put them in a dish with the custard… mmmmmmmmm.
