an early yet hurried MMP

Sorry guys - I should have composed the MMP yesterday, but I ended up getting drunk with my cousin, and now I have to run off to attend a training session for work. I’ll post something interesting later; I’m sure y’all will be able to keep yourselves amused til then. I miss being part of the day shift though. :frowning:

First!!!

ETA: Haze we want to know all about your new job and the training and how you’re adjustin’ to Seoul.

Yes, an MMP OP that I am able to post to before everyone goes to bed!

Life here has been crazed, what’s new? The weather sucks, cool and rainy, but the sky never got completely dark last night, so there are the long days to compensate for the lack of sun.

I am totally clueless as to what’s been going on with everyone, but I find myself thinking about you guys, and wondering about what is happening. I hope to be back soon.

Ta for now!

{{{kai}}} - been missin’ ya, sweetie! Hope you’re doing OK.

I guess it’s already Monday in Korea, huh? I figgered that out all by myself!

Lots of thunderboomers around here, but just a little rain so far. We’re under a watch for another half an hour, but I think the worst of it is passing to the north.

Hi, kai! Good to see you!

Interesting non-OP, Haze. :dubious:  We miss you on the day shift, too! You could always try staying up all night and sleeping all day, you know; what’s a little clock-shifting for your Mumper buddies?

YAY! All my hundreds if not thousands of WordPerfect shortcuts transferred over to the new computer! YAY, YAY, and YAY! This saves me literally several DAYS of recreating them! YAY! You may throw confetti now!

Finally caught up on the old MMP. I’m dead tired right now, I went to the bear bar in Little Rock last night and didn’t get to bed until after 6, then had to wake up at 10 to drive back home (an hour away) and then go to work. I was a few minutes late because I didn’t allot enough time when I set my cell phone alarm, so I was driving either 55 or 80 the whole way, cussing at trucks or cruising along, respectively. I get home, and have lost both of my earrings, so I put in some wood spiral ones (that they later made me take out when I got to work). And then I get to work and have a hickey to top everything else on so I had to go buy makeup.

Wow, this thread is getting earlier and earlier. It’s not even Sunday night here. :dubious:

Pretty soon the M(onday) and M(orning) part won’t have any meaning and we’ll just be the P’ers. :stuck_out_tongue:

~waving to gt~ just because

On preview: OK wait, is bear a euphemism for something else? I always think of cute little teddy bears when I think of bears. Are we talking about something else entirely?

Wait… Haze is in Seoul? Whad I miss?

She went into exile rather than marry me. :frowning:

Haze, I should use that excuse to miss work sometime.
Hi kai! How’s the poms?

I guess we know the world won’t end tomorrow.

Hi kai! Beaten any octopi against rocks lately?

I’m tired and don’t want to be at work. That is all.

Roo yes indeed we are talkin’ about sump’n else entirely. donkeybear is talkin’ about this type of bear. This is a link to a wiki article which I figure is pretty safe.

-swampbear, bear educator

::Waves back at Roo::

What doggio said, kinda. Her visa ran out and she didn’t get a job that would let her stay here, so she had to go home for a bit.

Hi kai! Glad to see you at least stop by. How’s your garden?

I have to say I’m relieved MBG remembered about his book (yeah, that’s from the old MMP…deal :p).

Cheer up, Spaz!

rosie - did you get to Dear Abby? You have to click on another link from the midnight blue page to get there. Dunno why.

I second the call for info about your training and job and Seoul, Haze.

The roofers are coming tomorrow if it doesn’t rain, so I’ve moved everything possible away from the house (some containers, a few plants that I’m holding till the roof is done). I also watered, probably dooming us to have major rain tonight and tomorrow and delaying my roof replacement. I had some very unhappy plants, though, so I didn’t really have a choice.

I’m tired, so I’m thinking I may just crawl into bed now and - if I feel like I’ve gotten enough sleep - get up extra early to do some of the household stuff I didn’t do this weekend due to being gone so much.

Someone remind me that I need to put recycling out in the morning…

Glad your 'puter is all rebuilt and that the shortcuts are all worked out, Tigs.

Off to beddy bye.

GT

Token Sunday night post, because I’m pretty sure I won’t have a chance to post during the day tomorrow.

That’s because I’m starting my new job, 8:30am sharp. Wish me luck!

Don’t forget to put out the recycling, gt.

Good luck Muppet!
Since swampy’s not here right now, I’ll say it…

GT: Take out your recycling tomorrow!

I think I’m going to head to bed pretty soon. I’ve been feeling pretty crappy today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Thrak the day I got him

Thrak today

mmmm…beer…

That Thrak is quite the beer drinker ain’t he!

Oh and just so gt won’t forget…

DON’T FORGET TO PUT THE RECYCLING OUT IN THE MORNIN’!!!

I told you not to give up before you finished the file transfer, MamaTigs!

Good grief, what’s all the shouting around here?

Actually, not everything has transferred smoothly. My highly personalized keyboard had to be recreated from scratch, but having done that multiple times, it only took me a few minutes. For some reason, my huge macro folder did not get picked up, so tomorrow I shall hook up the old 'puter again and just do a copy/paste. In the meantime, I made the few I use most often.

Except that now my stupid email won’t work. Grr. I hope I can find the number to call them online; I really don’t want to have to plug the old computer it again. I just took the stupid thing apart!

It is nice to know that I am missed when I am busy in my “real world”.

Hi FCM! I am dealing with each day as it comes, and so far I am keeping my head above water, thanks.

Hey Mama Tigs!

'Sup, db? The pommies are up and running, they have fangs now and so I have been weaning them, much to mama Tara’s relief. I think I have homes for all of them, although one lady failed to call or come by to drop off the deposit on one of the boys. Hmm. I also got a call from a woman who has one of my girls, along with a corgi. Her pommie herniated a disk in her neck last year, so it was good to get an update on her. (Sparrow, the pommie, is doing well.) (on preview I see that Thrak is growing like a little kitty should, and that you share similar interests!)

Heya Spazz! As a matter of fact, I have a couple of octo legs in the fridge!

Hola **gt[/B, I remember that you had a leaky roof, I am guessing that things got worse? Hope you get that fixed. My garden is planted, I put in an obscene amount of annuals on the back deck in halibut tubs (galvanized steel washtubs) and some containers. If we have a reasonably decent summer it will look fabulous. I put in some annuals in the front, and some perennials. I’ll have to check my tags later for some names. I do remember that I put in astilbe, one red, two pink, a pink bleeding heart, some more baby columbines, a yellow day lily (for trial) and a yellow iris (also for trial), and both in back and out front are littered in pansies. (also on preview I see that you are to put your recycling out!)

#1 daughter, husband and their daughter (my grand baby Tea) are moving to Seward so that my s-i-l can attend training so that he can get a job. (Don’t get me started on this issue.) I haven’t liked my daughter working at the liquor store, but at least she was working. They don’t live in a very nice neighborhood either, so I am glad that they are getting out of there. The downside for me is that she will be no longer accessible by plane, I will have to either fly to Anchorage and get a ride there (unlikely), or take the ferry and then get a ride from Homer, as the ferry no longer goes to Seward. We will manage, and hopefully everything will go smoothly for them.

#2 daughter is doing pretty well, we talked for a long time this morning on the phone.

#3 daughter is great and all is well.

The Son…it’s kinda hard to have my baby grow up on me like this… Last Wednesday I got a call from Brother Brad in Homer, wanting to know if my son wanted to a job on the boat. He is tendering, so it’s not a fishing job so much as a haul the product job. (The tenders go out to the fishing grounds and pick up the fish from the boats and bring it back to the processors. This way the working boats don’t have to quit working.) So I put my son on the ferry Friday, and it was as bad as his first day of kindergarten, if not worse. He made the trip and is now ensconced on the f/v Historian, and apparently doing fine. Me, I get a little teary, but I guess I am going to have to accept that my kids are growing up. Not too sure about how I feel about that.

Earlier in the day Wednesday I got a call from my mother-in-law. Actually it was at 4:00 am, and skiffman’s father had just passed away. I had to get the skipper’s wife get a hold of the boat (which was in Alitak, as far away as possible from Kodiak and still be on the island) so the skipper could have him call me so I could let him know before he heard about it from somebody else. (word travels fast on the island) He flew into Kodiak that night, and was home to approve the decision for The Son to go to Homer, and to go to the village for the mourning and funeral. (I wanted to participate in the wake thread, but emotions were so raw that I didn’t) Skiffman came home last night, and the plan was that he would fly out in the morning to join up with the boat, but he is in the bathroom right now with some serious gastrointestinal flu, so I called the skipper’s wife and let her know that he isn’t mobile now and that I would keep her updated. #3 and I are just getting over a bad respiratory bug, and now my home is infected with new germs, groovy. Poor skiffman though, he is really, really sick.

Well it has taken me a couple of hours to put this together, between skiffman, the poms, the phone, etc. It is finally quiet, though I know it won’t last for long. So I will bow out for now, and hope to chat with you guys as the week goes on.
