Howdy and good night!
See you on the flip side and enjoy the evening, night shift!

::hides behind the ficus::
I didn’t! There’s just a few things that are really aggravating, like my Outlook. For some reason I can’t transfer the existing mail in my mailbox or find my contacts, but when I go to write an email it fills in the To line with the e-addresses from my old computer. I’ll worry about it tomorrow. At least tonight I’m able to be up and working, check my email, and goof off online!
MORK!!
:: pounces on Mork::
:: drags him into the room:: (not 304, ya pervs)
Now get back here and stay!
Nice to see you back.
Hi everybody! Happy Monday Morning (well, as good as Monday morning can be. For those for whom it is Monday morning. YMMV. No user-serviceable parts inside…)
A special “hi” to Mork. We missed ya, dude!
And another special “hi” to Ivory.
And yet another one for Roo. Just because.
GT: did you take the recycling out, yet?
**Haze **-- of course I can amuse myself, but it would be even nicer if you would amuse me… (hey, you must have seen that one coming from a mile away. Wouldn’t want to disappoint you… :p)
Remember me?
Things haven’t been going very well here lately. Cousin Wanda died in May, and so did my Grandmother. Then Mr. SCL’s private duty patient died this month. I got the results from my first every mammogram - the lovely “we saw something we aren’t sure about so come back in 6 months” letter. Plus one of my co-workers was in a car wreck and broke her back, so we are short at work.
The cats are all fine. The hockey team got a really good goalie.
I love ya’ll.
What’s the titsqueezing procedure like for you, SCL?
I had it done a couple months back. Since I’m not in the rota for the bus yet, I had to go up to the hospital. This hospital usually runs on time or early, but there was some maintenance work going on so they were laaaaaaaaaaaaate. They do the squeezing, the radiologist checks it and within 15 min they tell you to go or stay. If they see anything funny, they run an ultrasound. While I was in the ultrasound (I’ve had these cysts since there’s been boobies for cysts to be in, nothing worrisome but the doc still figured he’d get me baselined) I kept thinking “gee, betcha most teenaged males wouldn’t think of ‘radiologist’ if you asked them ‘do you want a job where you see lots of naked boobs every day?’ then again most of the boobs around here aren’t exactly the most photogenic kind…”
Why is Mork hiding behind a ficus? Dude, if it’s a potted ficus it’s not wide enough to hide behind, and if it’s in the wild, I want jungle pics!
We have a single bear (of the kind that likes its lamb raw) in Navarra; his name is Camille, which leads many people to think it may be a she-bear, but no, it’s just a french he-bear… for some reason our resident bears always make me think about the way the daily comic strip in the local newspaper pictures the french he-bear with the she-bear name.
And I’m still surprised that for once Spain has managed to pass the quarter-finals in anything. Lilbro is visiting me this week and just a few hours before we’d been talking about how bad most Spanish teams (not just the national team) are about penalty rounds. He watched the match at a sports bar and came home so happy he was bouncing.
Mork - stop hiding! Come out and play with the rest of us!
Errr…Haze…is that the OP that never was? See, it’s just no good getting drunk all the time and letting us all down like that…
Is it Monday already? How did that happen? I was having such a nice time yesterday laying on the sofa with a book, it’s not fair that I have to be at work today dealing with all the usual lunacy.
Whoops, I found it.
(will read up on** kai** now)
{{{SCL}}}
I was just wondering where you were at. So sorry you’ve been gone for all the sad and unfortunate reasons possible…
Sorry for your losses.
And I hope that at least the mammogram turns out to be a false alarm!
Bump, after reading.

I’m awake! Or at least I think I am. Not much to report here. Just the usual work stuff and then taking one of the dogs to the vet, possibly for the last time unless they’re willing to negotiate their prices on medicine. Otherwise, I’ll just take my pups somewhere else!
Morning all, up and caffeinating.
{{{{{{SCL}}}}}}; missed you, and sad for the reasons you’ve been away. Good thoughts being sent your way. Welcome back, btw.
Haze, am awaiting further info from you. Hey, have you heard from The Guy yet?! Sounds like you’re acclimated to Seoul time, btw.
Hugs for kai too; sending get well and stay well vibes your way; glad to hear that the pommies are doing okay too.
And welcome back to Mork, what you been up to?!
I know there’s more I wanna say, but my old geezer brain keeps forgetting! Have a good Monday all. Well, as good as a Monday can be, that is.
So I just got back from training today. Jesus, it was as tedious as I remembered it. The school that hired me is actually a place I used to work at, a year before I went to grad school - it’s this corporate giant that runs a chain of private ESL academies throughout Korea (mostly in Seoul). It’s cultivated a very elite image for itself - the tuition is expensive, the entrance tests are difficult, and the teachers are graduates from good schools - and they take themselves very seriously: e.g., they have dress codes for the teachers, surveillance cameras in every classroom, etc. They’ve earned a reputation for being a bit of a Nazi regime, which is partly deserved, but they pay well and don’t require much from you, other than following their rules. Be on time, dress neatly, stick to the lesson plan, and it’s all good.
I’m still trying to adjust to being back. It’s just so CROWDED - not only in terms of people, but everything. The very buildings seem to be trying to elbow each other out of the way, and on the subway trains people shove and squirm with supreme disregard for anybody else other than themselves. It’s also the beginning of monsoon season, so the air is practically dripping with heat and humidity, until all you want to do is lie on the floor and melt into a puddle.
I suppose it’s not all bad. If nothing else, Seoul is very much a lively city, although in a very different way from Chicago. Chicago always seemed vibrant yet relaxed; people enjoying themselves with only occasional bouts of crazed orgies that spill out into the streets. In Seoul, however, everything seems pushed to the boiling point. Streets are either immaculately tended or strewn with garbage; people are either dressed to the nines or shuffling around in pjs; neighborhoods are either teeming with bars and clubs or bustling with apartments and schools. It does have a certain sort of charm to it - I don’t think it’s living in Seoul per se that has me annoyed (although I could never move back here permanently), but my situation in general (i.e., basically being exiled here against my will).
I’m too tired to end this post gracefully, so I’ll just finish by saying I miss being part of the daytime crew banter and (on a completely unrelated note) can’t wait to start work so I can at least be well off as well as disgruntled while I’m here.
PS - The Guy and I are coping by writing each other stupidly long emails and occasionally chatting when we manage to be online at the same time. This past week has seemed like the longest week of my life - I hope it gets easier, or else I might go insane before December rolls around.
::Wanders in half asleep::
What was I going to do this morning?
::Wanders out::
missing Haze.
You describe your city so vividly- I would love it if you keep writing about it- It’s so fascinating to me!
Sorry you’re missing The Guy… emails are poor substitute, but at least you can go back and read them over when you are feeling lonely.
Sorry about the sad times, SCL
Special1- special “hi” back at you
We haven’t met, Mork, pleased to know ya’-- that’s a nice ficus you got there.
Hi
gotta run, but first
Welcome back Myndy and SCL, we missed you both so much. Kai, too, but you have posted sporadically of late so we knew you were around.
Haze do you expect to be able to come back again in December? or are you just waiting for winter break?
Off to my first day at the new place. Not looking forward to the commute or the walking, but, hey, it’s a living.
Blurf.
Went to Y this morning; had one cup of WTHU; now it’s time to forage.
I’ll post later the picks of the house burning Saturday.
Welcome back, Mork and SCL. Sorry about all the woes.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Gotta go get purtified for work soon. We had rain and thunderboomers off and on all through the night. It was nice for sleepin’.
{{{Snakes and Kai}}} it’s good to see y’all and I hope things settle down soon. I’m sorry for your losses Snakes.
Howdy Mindude! Stick around some more.
Ok, gotta go get ready for the work thang.
Later Y’all!
