I have nothing of import or interest to say. On the mundane front, I started taking Zyrtec again (after being off it because I ran out and kept forgetting to buy more) and I seem to be having a minor reaction as in not being able to sleep. That’ll pass, and it’s preferable to having a waterfall for a nose, but blah, blurf, and bah.
I’m all moved in into the studio. The electric, uh, counter-thingy (can’t remember what it’s called, can’t be arsed look it up) goes ticky ticky ticky ticky all the time, I’ll have to get used to that.
The electrician is in today, well, the bricklayer making grooves on the walls so the electrician can then lay the new cabling The hallway is losing its gotelé (yoohoo!), and the archaeological layers behind the big mirrored, polyester-shiny piece of furniture in the entrance are also being covered, so at some point I’ll be able to get rid of that useless monstrosity. Will have to call a painter after the new kitchen furniture is in, I’ve already located one who’s from the village (his official address of business is in the big town nearby, but he lives in the village).
On Saturday I called Mom and had to tell her to drop it for now, because The Kidlet was in and playing word games in the computer, and she was listening with half an ear (and misunderstanding everything which could be misunderstood) while giving him pointers. The visit was unexpected: turns out the Proud Daddy and him were in a park nearby and the kid fell into the fountain, so the Proud Daddy took off most of his clothing and dressed him in his own T-shirt (which was about floor length on the kid). The Kidlet was happy because he’d gotten to play at Granny’s and because his Daddy had not yelled at him  - this second item makes me want to give my brother all the smacks I didn’t give him as a kid. Talked again with Mom yesterday and cleared the misunderstandings.
Thanks for getting this week’s MMP off to a brilliant start, rosie! I hope you’re able to get some sleep.
It’s a very cool 52 F in my city of Three Rivers this morning with a projected high of 72 F and it’s supposed to rain later today.
We’ll see if I get in trouble today. We had OT available this weekend, but one of our key systems was down Saturday. Apparently I pulled some muscles cleaning the bathroom so I took a strong painkiller yesterday, right afterwards someone from the office called to tell me the key system was back up and we could work. Being in no shape to work, I unplugged the phone and zonked out. The good news is that after spending an up-and-down night due to the pain, I’m feeling better this morning and ready to start another week.
In a bit here I’m going to fry up some eggs and Spam for breakfast and then start my Monday irking from home. (I always want to write that in a cockney accent as “irkin’ from 'ome”.)
Do you all realize that this week is the last gasp of summer? That Friday is the Autumnal Equinox? That this is your last chance to have Summer Fun?? So get out there and run thru a sprinkler, dammit!
Weird night last night - I kept waking up, so I’m dragging now. I can’t go back to sleep because I need to call the Dr office first thing and make sure I’m to come in an have blood drawn this morning. Then **FCD **will be back around 9:30 so I can take him to the hospital to be shot in the back, poor baby. And my Dr appt is at 1:30. Why did it all fall on the same day?? eeeeeesh
Anyway, till I find out whether I have a date with the phlebotomist, I can’t eat. So I’ll be pretty cranky shortly. No comments from the peanut gallery, either…
HAARRRRRR Y’ALL! I be up and caffienatin’. YAWN The weather be 63 Amurkin with a predicted high of 88. Well, shiver me timbers 'tis almost Fall weather!
Ok enough of that for now.
I got nuttin’ else right now. Thus I seek more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, it shall be time it purtify for irk.
… where I come from, “talk like a pirate” just means “speak English”*, as by defnition our guys weren’t pirates: only their guys. I am, therefore, speaking like a colonial pirate.
or Arabic, French or Dutch, but the biggest rap goes to them Brits.
Get well, Soapy
It’s about darn time this summer is over. Geez, what an absolutely horrible one it’s been for those in the south. C’mon cool temps and the possibility of rain. We finally got some yesterday and this am. Welcome relief.
There was a real bummer of an article in the paper yesterday. Seems that Bastrop fire burned up most of Lost Pines, this beautiful outlier of loblolly pines that was a separate but westernmost expression of the Big Thicket. With the exception of a few patches, nearly all of that beautiful island of green is now toast, along with the Houston Toad, an endangered resident. Just sad.
Has everyone in the NE dried out from those two storms, hurricane and TS, of late summer? National news carried 'em for awhile, then no word has come out of late.
For today’s earworm, we bring to you “I don’t like Mondays”. You’re welcome.
Page 71/290 of a horrible document… whomever was in charge of this PoS must be someone who makes a lot of money, because few times I’ve seen something so badly organized and inconsistent with decent spelling. Few times if any. Ugh!
Back from being bled. I’d forgotten to have a bunch of water before leaving, but the tech had no problem filling the vials, so all is good.
**lieu **- we’ve pretty well dried out, but one still hears chainsaws frequently. It’s weird to see some places that had big old trees that now have big open areas. The one gouge in the road that I posted the photo of will be temporarily patched by November, according to some talk I heard. At least 2 other major sinkholes are being repaired - I pass then on my way to class.
I’m hoping all the downed trees means I can get a deal on firewood. I’d like to get half a cord.
**FCD **is on his way home. We’ll be leaving for the hospital in about an hour. I need to get some yarn so I can knit while waiting. Most of today will be a waste…
At irk although I’ve done no irk in the hour I’ve been here. That’s what Mondays are for. Yesterday it rained all day and some sprinkles are hanging around today. I’m glad to see the back end of summer. Bring on the autumnal equinox!
Soapy, you may have allergies. Allergies can have the same symptoms as flu.
Lunch is leftover din-din–chicken thighs Buffalo style. It’s o.k. Don’t know if I’d bother to make it again. The best part was the beu cheeze salad dressing.
Yep, I was just thinking the other day that much of the nation is going to have all the firewood they need after this year and for many to come for the most disparate of reasons, drought and flooding.
Hello all. Happy Monday (is there such a thing, really?).
We had a yummy Cuban Sandwich for dinner last night and that’s what I’ll have for lunch again today, which is liable to be the only good thing about the day. Being Monday and all.
Happy belated birthday to all the mumpers from the last MMP. As is usual, I was too late to that party.
We are having the warmest weather of the whole darn summer this week. I want Autumn, darn it.
Get well wishes to all that are feeling under the weather. Perhaps drinking some rum would be a help and then I can say, but why is the rum gone as my contribution to talking like a pirate day.
Morning! I have also been at work over an hour and don not much other than check e-mails and eat breakfast. Serious case of the “really don’t want to” right here. Doesn’t help at all I hate this job. Anyways…
mr ems came home with some crud from his weekend jaunt home to visit the parents. I better not get it between now and Thursday as I am having this damn knee surgery if it kills me! Or him
Right must put some effort into today even if it is minimal…
