A D Day MMP

Howja like it?

(FWIW: Solid white albacore, Best Foods mayonnaise, finely-chopped celery, tarragon.)

Happy Doperversary, BBBoo!!

After at least a year of deliberation, I finally made an “Acorn vs BritBox” decision and signed up for Acorn. So far I’ve watched a 2013 movie and two episodes of a 2021 series, both based on books that I’ve read. The movie was a bit disappointing, but the series is a decent adaptation. And I found a handful of interesting-sounding shows to add to my watchlist. I really don’t need another streaming service, but I’m a sucker for British television. In fact, it isn’t out the question that I could wind up also subscribing to BritBox at some point.

I’m not ready for it to be Sunday evening already. This week shouldn’t be bad, but it’ll be a little busy — including an optometrist appointment, and some work-related drama — and I just want to keep lounging on the sofa with my snoozing doggy and having nothing more to do than watch TV and post here. *pouts*

My living room window gets full sun for a few hours each evening in the summer: I’ve taken to hanging a room-darkening curtain in front of the blinds from April-September. It looks a little strange from the inside during the day, and it looks a little strange from the outside at night, but — like you — IDGAF. It makes a big difference in helping to keep the room cool.

Happy Birthday Fly Boy and happy cake day BBBOOO

Pop quiz time - answer yes or no before you run to Google:

Do you know what an antimacassar is? I don’t recall when I first learned the word, but I made one for FCD today.

We had some serious t-boomers and downpours this morning, but the afternoon was full of blue skies and sunshine! At least what I could see thru the windows, since I vegetated inside.

Supper was a grilled cheese sammich and some grapes. Fruit makes it healthy!

No, I don’t.

flyboy, I liked it! I used Aldi canned tuna, Duke’s mayo, Mt Olivet pickle relish, whole grain mustard and minced garlic and onion, pepper jack and corn tortillas. Not nearly so fancy as yours, but good nonetheless.

Yes, I know what an antimacassar is Moooooom. FCD having issues with his hair tonic getting on the chairs? :stuck_out_tongue:

Sounds fancier than mine!

No, but his head can get sweaty and icky! He had a towel hanging over the back of his recliner for some time. Now he has a nifty knitted antimacassar all his own! I’d made one for myself some time back… well, actually, I made it as a towel, but I wound up putting it on my recliner. We’s classy like that!

We never use those pretty pillow shams that come with sets. They make nifty antimacassars!

I’ve been reading and all, but mostly I’ve been worrying. Our friend is in isolation at the VA hospital with COVID and a blood clot in his lung. His health is so bad that his cardiologist won’t approve him for ANY surgery at all because he won’t survive it. I’m sad.

Evening all. Outback was a little disappointing, the steak could have taken another 2-3 minutes on the grill and was pretty fatty, but the service was good. Hung around the house until about 4:30 and went to the gym. Was down to the last mile on the bike when I noticed it was getting quite; turns out they close at 6pm on Sundays (I’m usually there weekdays when they’re open until 9pm). So home and just polished off a big bowl O’Sallit and will shortly bite into an apple so some healthy eating. Glad some of you are getting rain, none in the forecast for the next week and temperatures in the 90’s, so I may have to get the sprinklers out.

Also have bright yellow lines sprayed on my lawn; apparently from the Gas company, the whole neighborhood is marked up, so I suspect they may have some work in the area planned. We’ll see.

shoe, y’all take care and talk to us when you can. We’ll be waiting.

FCM, no idea what an antimacassar was, still don’t but if it make life more comfortable, then it’s a good thing.

Hippo Birdie, flyboy!

BBBoo, Congrats to son and soon-to-be DIL and on your for 2 years at the Dope.

VanGo, hope the dishwasher is repairable; mine finished it’s weekly run this afternoon, still need to put the dishes away.

FCM, hope daughter-unit enjoys here new job. Of course she’ll be working with car salemen, which isn’t a lot different than her time with little children… And :astonished: on the boody-trapped mailbox; just glad it wasn’t anymore serious than that…

Bumba, hope the new vet and Gibbs hit it off.

Oopsie, sounds like you had a great night out; enjoy today’s sloth.

OK, need to write some checks (this is my donation month, I send out the checks and then shred all the mail I get for the next year asking for more) and make up the plan for next week. Catch All y’all on the next MMP.

So FCM is the daughter burnt out on kidlets or the sad pay?

Nope. As I remember the story it was built in 1927 by some guy for his mother. We got the story from the builder’s great grandson and it was a little ‘scattered’. It’s ‘unique’ to say the least. The door into the bathroom is only 24" for instance.

Gibbs did fine with the vet, and later we took him into Home Depot and he put up with riding around in the cart for half an hour before he got antsy. We looked at some stuff, but now we’re reconsidering tearing out the fridge cubby so we can have a bigger fridge. We’ll see.

Now fixin to eat leftover ribs, with roasted asparagus and nuked N.O.T.s

Later.

Productive day. But the heatwave is hitting tomorrow, and it’s gonna suck at work. “superglued to Captain Queeg for 48 hours” level of suck. Oh well.

< makes notes >

Happy Doperversary, BBBoo! and congrats to the son!

Yes. And it doesn’t involve a morgue and a Necromancer.

I need to sign up for BBCAmerica, so I can catch up on NuWho.

I thought those prices looked kind of reasonable.

Old menu. The new menu didn’t have the 6-ounce filet; only the 8-ounce. And it was $40. I had that (with baked potato & broccolini), and Mrs. L.A. had the same thing with Hollaindaise, crab meat, and asparagus ($50). We shared a bottle of the house wine, 14 Hands Merlot. Escargots were not on the menu. I think we could have had them if we’d asked, but we didn’t have any appetisers.

I had to send my steak back. I like my meat bloody, but not cold so I ordered it rare. It came out medium rare. In fact, it looked more done than Wifey’s one that she’d ordered medium rare. I would have eaten it anyway, but A) It was bloody expensive; and B) It’s by birfday. The replacement steak came out, and it was nicely raw on the inside. Yum.

Happily, BBCA is part of my cable package. Christopher Eccleston was my first Doctor, and I stayed a fan during the David Tennant era, but I lost the bubble sometime during the Matt Smith years. One of these days I’ll catch up on Peter Capaldi’s and Jodie Whittaker’s incarnations, though.

Emphasis on the pay, but smart-ass middle schoolers didn’t help.

Beddy-bye time. I’s tahred.

Tom Baker was mine. But I had a fez before Matt Smith.

Oh… The waitress played Happy Birthday cowbells for me. There were at least three other parties at the restaurant, so I got some applause for the day.

Of course I do….humppphh.

:heart_decoration: :heart_decoration: :heart_decoration: thank you everybody for the cake day wishes~I’m beyond delighted to be here!

Holding you all in the light :candle::candle::candle:
