A D Day MMP

{{sari}} Being the adult sucks, sometimes.

Wheelz great news on the mortgage

Happy birthday :purple_heart: shoe :octopus:

Looking at plane tickets. Ouch.

50 years before I was born? My paternal grandmother was born, plus my great-aunt (maternal). They were born within a few weeks of each other and died within a few months of each other.

Other important events include women getting the right to vote in the U.S. and prohibition going into effect. Fortunately the later was rescinded.

Weather’s being weird. We seem to be catching up on our rain totals for the year (not really), and the temperature’s been fluctuating a bit. No snow, but just about everything else.

Need to go change the sheets on the bed before going to bed. Makes it easier.

Happy Tuesday!

Boy, leave you lot alone for a while and you get up to all sorts. I haven’t been in front of a computer since Friday morning until we got home last night and my brain hasn’t got the bandwidth to keep track of everything.

Anyway, {{{{{Sahirrnee}}}}}

Happy Birthday Shoe.

{{{{{Everybody Else}}}}}

Our house in the valley is sold. It closes in a couple of weeks, I think. We are planning one more trip over there before then to collect misc. stuff like the table and chairs off of the deck and some planters and stuff. But it’s about done. :sweat_smile:

My father was in the navy in the Pacific during WWII. He never talked about it, but he did tell me once that he was on one of those smaller ships that launched rockets for shore bombardment. I was drafted during Viet Nam. Sorta. I got ‘the letter’ from the Army and I went down and enlisted in the Navy. The closest I got to Viet Nam was an aircraft carrier off the coast. The closest I ever got to getting killed was at Miramar NAS (San Diego) when a jet pilot bailed out of his plane over the runway and his plane crashed into the hanger I was in. 15 people were killed

Sorry about being a downer.

I’ll see myself out.

Howdy all. Happy Birthday Shoe.

Back to sloth.

“Day drinking is fun” said my traveling companion as she crashed into a chair. Fortunately she did not fall over.

Is the chair all right?

Happy Birthday Shoe! I hopw this year is better for you.

Little jerkface kitty kat! I was able to get the blood out of the slippers and they are only a week old so they are in the donation box.

He would pack up his catnip and move out, LOL!!!

Hurray, how exciting. Are you going to go back so you can write your name on the support beams? Too late to put your initials in the foundation…

I am so sorry for both of you. No wonder you are so tired and stressed all the time. How could you not be?

Congrats on almost being done with your move as well. Moving is such a PITA, but usually well worth it.

Not much happening here, it’s soooo hot that we flipped a coin to see who had to trudge all the way to the other side of the street and get the mail. Hubs lost.

I need to boil some hummingbird nectar but I don’t want to start doing heat producing things this early. Two of the feeders are still full, they aren’t going to starve or anything. I just like to give them cold nectar in the summer, they seem to appreciate it. I turned the misters on for a while and had a dozen of them playing in the mist and just perching and cooling off. (In the winter I bring the feeders in overnight so I can give them warm syrup in the morning.)

Glad to see you back nellie.

Poor GG! Are the bunny slippers in a size 10 JtC?

Happy birthday shoe!

Yay for the mortgage approval and foundation work wheelie!

{{{sari and mom}}}

Irked over a half an hour this afternoon. We had a tour from da Jungle. I’m guessing that a) they’re looking to buy us out or b) we’re trying to sell them a warranty contract. I would hope that it’s the latter, as I really don’t like to think of the prospect of working for them.

On the way home from irk, I stopped at O’Reilly’s to get batteries for both of my key fobs. The one that I use regularly was getting low (according to the fairies who live in my car) and the spare was dead. $10 later, they gave me the hookup.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Glad to hear it! Maybe we should send them to shoe for her :confetti_ball::notes::musical_note: birthday :birthday::notes::musical_note::birthday::tada:? Bet she’d look adorable in them.

JtC Honorary Birthday Bunny Slippers :rabbit: :flat_shoe::rabbit::flat_shoe:! They could even become “The Traveling JtC Honorary Birthday Bunny Slippers”.

Evening all. Took two trips to the gym, pedaled 7.5 miles each time so got some calories burned. In-between exercise I cleared out the spare bathroom for the plumbing work tomorrow and watched some soccer while reading, so managed to avoid nappage. Clouds are pretty dark and threatening outside, but no rain as of yet.

red, had to change my key fob batteries about a year ago, we have Batteries, Bulbs, and More store nearby and they had the correct ones.

{{{sari and mom}}}

Bumba and Wheelie, glad the housing projects are going well for the both of you.

FCM, I had a 3-poop day too, and nobody is giving me congratulations… :astonished: :wink: :laughing: :laughing: And while not as noisy as your place, Redstone used to blow stuff up now and then when I was working there and now the FBI has moved in so…

Just did the 50-year look-back and 50 years from my birth Wilbur and Orville Wright were taking their first flights…(darn I’m old)

OK, need to give brother a call and be about the evening. All y’all take care.

Happy Birthday AND Hippo Birdies Shoe!

Woo-hoo!!! :balloon: :flags: :confetti_ball: :confetti_ball: :tada:

Sari I’m sorry to hear things are so hard for your mom. Have you looked into palliative care options for her? Maybe making her comfortable and letting her enjoy her last days is the best thing at this point.

Bumba Congrats on the house sale!

I’m home following my back procedure. It went well. Now we wait and see if it worked as intended. I am cautiously optimistic. :crossed_fingers:t3:

Howdy Y’all! Mowage and laundry were done today. Go Us! We celebrated by day drinkin’ on the back porch and admirin’ the freshly mown yahd. Nappage and sup also occured. A bzzzy day for us!

Wheelie congarats on the house!

sari sorry about your mom. It is not a bad thing to be makin’ plans for her funeral. It’s better to be a bit proactive than to be runnin’ around all over the place tryin’ to get stuff done at the very last minute.

MOOOOOOM I am surprised FCD has not already gone to Ocala. This is a tough thing to go through. Go with him if he needs you, but don’t feel guilty if he says he does not need you to go with him. Y’all have a homefront that needs takin’ care of as well.

Bumba did the “kids” buy the house?

And some more hearty :tada::confetti_ball: whoo-hoo! :tada::confetti_ball:

I can’t tell you how deeply your warm welcome back affected me. Much sobbing. Let’s leave it at that. Thank you, thank you for being so kind.

On my way home from the gym yesterday, I was once again almost hit by a car, this one exiting a parking lot way too fast. The driver slammed on the brakes and stopped about 18 inches from me. She looked shocked and appalled and mouthed, “I’m so sorry!” at me. I waved and mouthed, “It’s OK” back, but truth be told, I was shaken. If she’d come straight at the exit, I’d have waited for her before walking past, but she turned a corner fast, and until she did, I didn’t think she was exiting. It’s amazing how vulnerable you feel when you’re not surrounded by 4,000 pounds of metal and plastic.

Today I had my monthly injections. I walked two miles and caught a bus that took me .5 miles from the place. But I missed the bus on the way home and thought maybe I could walk the 5.8 miles. However, I eventually ran out of sidewalk. Most of the US is constructed for drivers, not walkers. I tried to get to a bus stop, but I had a big, hairy traffic circle to navigate where all the pedestrian signals kept saying, “Use caution! Vehicles may not stop!” No sh-t. I eventually gave up and summoned an Uber. Then I walked to the pharmacy to get Rx’s, so I did get to my 7 mile minimum.

I’ve said my son gets daily migraines. His sister has only had two migraines in her life, but the one last night brought aphasia so bad, her husband–the calm-in-a-crisis type–got alarmed and took her to the ER. I’m retroactively worrying.

nut, hope you’re feeling better.

BooFae, thanks for explaining. What a horrible thing that he fell while trying to protect his neighbors. Because we know the ending, it’s so easy for the rest of us to forget how harrowing the future seemed to people back then.

shoe, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I’m so glad you were born and that you’re part of the MMP. Please tell us how you’re doing when you get a chance. Are you looking for a new job? Taking some time to rest and get your feet back under you? We need to know because we worries, we do.

FCM, your in-laws are lucky to have such a devoted son. I guess you’ll have to decide whether it’d be worse to go or to worry about him while he’s gone without you. Either decision is right. Darn, I wish his parents would move into independent or assisted living. It’d be so much better than they think it would be.

sari, I’m so sorry circumstances dictate preparations for a funeral and that you’re basically in those circumstances alone. FWIW, I think you’re brave and doing the right thing. I hope things turn around for your mom, but if they don’t, I know you’ll be there for her, and we’ll be here for you. {{{{{{{{{sari}}}}}}}}}}

Bumba, I read the article. Holy frick. I’m glad you lived through it but am so sorry for the horrific memories you must have. Were you injured? (Please feel free to ignore the question if the answer is too painful.)

JtC: Well, GG is brave even if he’s a derp. He must’ve thought he was making the world safe from Killer Rabbit Slippers.

VanGo: I got the “What’s a cubit?” reference. :rofl:

Boo, hugs right back atcha. How’re the grands?

Really shorthanded today, I didn’t get out till 2. But I did get to help with the HaMat(and didn’t liquify myself).

Yay!

:rofl:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHOE

So turns out a construction fastener known as a “silver bullet” (DH calls it a self-drilling lath screw) got the tire. Tire shop was able to fix it, and it was covered by protection we got when we bought the tires, so no cost other than DH losing a day of irk.

Imgur

Construction sites are hard on tires.

I get nervous going to the local hardware store.

My oldest friend, whom I call BeelzeBob behind his back, has a birthday today; so I called him. We only talk on birthdays and Christmas, and rarely other times. It seems that to him, Gaslight (1944) was an instruction manual. We were roomates briefly, and he’d try to gaslight me even after I pointed out – and described – what he was doing. He was (is?) a big Trump supporter. He’s a lot like Trump, but without any money. Anyway, he has ‘an aggressive form’ of skin cancer. I found out about it about a year ago. Doesn’t sound like he’s getting better. He said tonight, ‘Now they’re talking in “staged”.’ He said he was ‘stage 3 and 4’. And he was always so proud of his tan, and of hanging out in Palm Springs!

Oh – We don’t email because he put me on his mailing list and was continually sending racist, anti-Obama memes. I told him to take me off of his mailing list, or I’d block his email. He didn’t, so I did. I got his new email address the other day, and emailed him. He promises not to spam me. (Trump promise?)

When we were little (we’ve known each other since we were four), he lorded it over me that he’s five days older than I am. I retorted, ‘That just means you’ll die five days sooner!’ (Hey when you’re six years old, that’s how you think.) I hope he doesn’t die, because then I’ll be watching the clock. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup. We’d already decided that if they could figure out the finances we wanted to sell to them and they did, so we did.

No, I wasn’t injured. I was just walking in the doorway when the plane hit so I got some burns on my face and I was kinda deaf for a little bit, but that’s all. We fought the fire for what seemed like a couple of hours. I was holding a fire hose with a bunch of other guys. Watching them carry out pieces of bodies on stretchers afterwards was pretty jarring. I had some ‘survivors guilt’ for a while, but that was all. If it had been a few seconds later I’d have been in the hanger proper and could have gotten seriously hurt.

See you all tomorrow.

I don’t think I shared the latest in-law “adventure.” They decided they needed to replace their terlit seats, because… I have no idea. So they bought a couple of replacements, then FIL took BOTH of the old ones off but couldn’t figure out how to put the new ones on, then he got all the hardware mixed up. MIL can’t see so she can’t install them. So now they have no terlit seats. :open_mouth: I think what they’re doing is using the assist seat that goes over the terlit.

I think I mentioned FIL taking apart their water softener to “service” it - so it’s gone. Well, he also decided he’d fix the vacuum cleaner. It also had to be thrown away. FCD suggested to his mom that she hide all his tools… She called yesterday asking what kind of vacuum cleaner I had - if she’d tell me what she’s willing to spend, I could order her one and have it delivered. But I don’t know what the deal is. Enough about them.

SIL is bringing Toby over this morning. Daughter has some work to do at school, then she wants to do some cleaning at home. (she starts her new job next week.) She’ll pick up Roxy after school and they’re coming here for supper. I’m finally going to cook the ribs that I bought last weekend. That’ll be today’s excitement.

Rain promised this evening and maybe overnight - otherwise, it’ll be cloudy. And that pretty much sums it up. :wink:

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’! YAWN 'Tis 70 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 95 and somewhat N.O.S. for the day. Today we shall procure provisions. I foresee sloth and quality cee-mint pond time as well. Long John Silver’s shall provide sup, just cause.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, since I must be amongst the great unwashed, I suppose I should purtify and don suitable attire. Life is just full of such woe and bother!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Morning all. Up about 6am since the plumbers are supposed to be coming over sometime and I wanted to be ready (so they probably won’t show until 1pm or so…). Nice morning outside but rain is expected this afternoon and evening. paper rescued and pills taken so we’ll see what else happens.

FCM, I’m hoping it doesn’t end in tragedy for your in-laws, but it really isn’t looking good, is it?

Bumba, that must have been a horrific experience; I think most of us have had a 'just a few seconds difference and I’d be dead" moment in our lives, but few like that.

flyboy, sorry about your ‘friend’, but sounds like he did it to himself; I think you’ll survive him by a good bit.

Seanette, good news on the tire fix and the coverage.

Nellie, your walking regime puts my feeble efforts to shame. and {{ }} to your daughter, I used to get headaches that made me throw up, fortunately I haven’t had one in many years.

OK, onward into the day. Have a good one all.
