A D Day MMP

The kid is here, fed and formula’d. He’s in his cage (pack-n-play) with a pile of toys and Baby Einstein is on the TV, so it’s quiet for a bit. Ribs go in the oven in about 15 minutes.

Yep, excitement reigns!

Well, this sucks. I woke up at 2 a.m. with a serious case of the itchies. I took Benadryl last night because I thought they might be coming on. Obviously it didn’t help. Not sure if this is an allergic reaction to the shots that are, ironically, supposed to help the itching, or what.

Waiting for the clinic to open so I can ask what to do. Also praying there’s something that’ll keep this from lasting too long. After all those months of itching last year, I just can’t bear the idea of a repeat performance.

If it’s an allergic reaction to the shots, I’m in trouble, as the doc said if these didn’t work, my only option would be immunosuppressants. Since those never helped itching when I was on them, I have little hope there.

I’m worried.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 18c/65f and partly cloudy. The weather app says “This is the perfect for a fucking Brony convention. Just because”. I had no idea what a Brony convention was, so I googled…

Anyway, it does not feel like 18c out there, it’s actually quite windy and feels much cooler than that. My travel pass ran out yesterday and since I only had one more day on campus this week, I bought a proper ticket. Which it cheaper than the return ticket on my travel pass, and includes the bus as well.

{{{{{nellie}}}}} I hope you are not returning to itchies too, that doesn’t sound good at all. Fingers crossed it’s a short-lived thing instead.

I have a new grand-niece!
This is Phoebe. Baby and mother (my niece) are doing great.

We were three brothers in my family. My older brother had four daughters, then two grandsons. Phoebe has broken the alternating-generation gender pattern.

The itching is about 50% better. I think I’ll see what another round of antihistamines does before deciding whether to call the doc. Something must have really thrown off my system: I’m getting alternating hot and cold flashes but am NOT running a temp. In fact, my temp is at 97.6, which is normal for me.

wheelz, congrats! What a cutie!

BooFae, thank you. And I, too, had to look up Brony convention. Good grief.

How is her name pronounced? ‘Puh-HOE-be’? (You know, like Puh-HOE-nics, Arizona?)

It was 87F at 8am. Summer is here, I’m so happy we don’t live in the valley.

There are a pair of Cardinals nesting somewhere close, they hang out on our feeders a bunch. VBC triggers on them while ignoring the larger doves. I always wonder why that is, Cardinals catch human eyes because of the bright color but cats don’t see those shades.

I picked up our surplus produce box this morning and was happy to see a big bag of avocados. They all have stickers identifying them as a product of Mexico so hopefully that situation is calming down somewhat.

He wasn’t brave enough to go after the Killer Bunny Slippers when they could see him, he had to wait until they were blindfolded and he could safely sneak up on them. I had no idea he was even coming, hubs saw him turn into a flat cat and start sneaking into my stitching room but didn’t think about it because GG likes to sneak up on VBC and pounce in her direction.

I hope the itchies were just a fluke and that they won’t come back, I remember how much you suffered last year :pensive:

They are 6-7. My feets are so small that I have problems keeping my balance sober. Walk the white line heel to toe? I couldn’t do it when I was in my 20’s, I certainly can’t do it now. (Of course, I don’t drink and drive so I could pass the breath test with flying colors.)

It looks like something that often lands pointy end up. Hubs used to get screws in his tires all the time, but he was in the auto repair business so the tire guys would fix them for free and he would be able to drive home that night.

Welcome to the world Phoebe. May it be kind to you.

My stepfather was in the Army in WWII, but I’m pretty sure it was in the Pacific Theater somewhere or possibly in the states (maybe the Aleutians?). He was a sergeant when he got out. His service record doesn’t indicate a location and he didn’t talk about it at all.

My father was exempt from the draft because of wife and kids, and apparently was not interested in joining up at age 30 in 1941. He did, however, work on the Canol Road in Canada, which was supposed to connect an oil line from Norman Wells, NWT, to the Alcan Highway in Whitehorse for the war effort. After the pipeline was laid, it was only in operation for less than a year before being shut down.

Free entrance days this weekend.

Washington State Parks free entrance days also occur throughout the year. On these days, the Discover Pass is not required to visit a Washington State Park.

When the tide’s out, the water is closer to the shore at Birch Bay State Park.

I am very fuzzy headed from the meds right now, but at some point we should discuss. I also have this issue. I would love to compare notes on treatments and such.

I am VERY glad the car did not hit you. Maybe we need to get you a flashing light to carry? That would get annoying for you though… A spinning umbrella? Foil balloons?

:crossed_fingers:t3: :crossed_fingers:t3: :crossed_fingers:t3: that your rash goes away quickly. Die, itch, die! :skull_and_crossbones:

Doggio There was a HazMat incident? I trained for that once. Yuck. I’m glad you are not liquefied. It sounds like a cool super hero origin story though.

Wheelie congrats to mom and welcome to Phoebe! What a cutie!

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

JtC It could be the feather have colors that the cats can see that we can’t?

\color{purple}{\text {Shoe}} How are you doing? :people_hugging:

Recovery continues. All of my ice packs have disappeared. My mom is bringing some over, but I’m not sure when. I’ve got some pain down my right leg, but I think it’s a normal side effect. They inject a lot of blood at the base of my spine. The volume and swelling can compress the nerves there, and that causes leg pain. I’ll talk to the dr’s office today and make sure that’s correct.

Otherwise, I’m laying flat for a few days and then slowly resuming life. My trusty bedside computer stand seems to have died, so I’m hacking something to hold the computer where I can see and use it.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

There’s a lot going on with y’all! I want to address everyone separately, but am deathly afraid of missing someone/something…

With one exception: that is one cute grandniece, Wheelz!!

OK, two exceptions: shoe, yes, please drop in when you can. :people_hugging:

I will be knocking off work early – sometime in the next hour – to do some shopping and then have dinner with my best friends, their 20-year-old son (my “nephew”), and their sister/sister-in-law. Kim is visiting for a few days from WV: she and her family are like family to me, and I haven’t seen her in about a year. I can’t wait! There are definitely worse ways to spend a Wednesday afternoon/evening.

:stuck_out_tongue:

As of now, I have not spoken live to any of my family, so I can only speculate on the exact pronunciation. However, I think it’s a fairly safe bet to assume it’s not “Puh-HOE-be.”

I kinda have a feeling we’ll all end up calling her “Feebs.”

@BippityBoppityBoo I just saw a news story about hail in Nebraska. Did the wild weather affect you at all?

Never mind. I misremembered the cartoon I was thinking of.

Afternoon all. Cooped up for the moment in my computer room as the plumbers have drilled holes in both spare bathroom and hall trying to find/fix the leak. Will need to get the carpet folks in to relay carpet they have had to take up,the pipe apparently runs from one side of the house to the other. We’ll see how much floor gets dug up.

Did get out to run a few errands and visit the bank (paid for the guy’s lunch) and the rain seems to be holding off, so that is good. Swimmin’ may not occur, it’s 2:30 as I type this and looks like they’ll be awhile yet.

Wheelie, whatever you call her, she’s a cutie and hope her and mom continue to do well.

nellie, hope the itching subsides.

Ok, need to finish a crossword puzzle and stay out of the plumbers’ way. Everybody take care.

I’m wondering about Buddy’s other day shift humans, since he’s been here most of the day (spent the night here, including sleeping on the bed with us, went out before DH left for irk, came back a few hours later).

Nettie maybe he’s fully moved in with you and ditched them?

I’m wondering!

As if we don’t have enough to do with our moving in hellishness, another tenant sideswiped the car in the parking garage. At least she fessed up to it, but I now have another mess to take care of.
