A D Day MMP

that or maybe they have moved? Ive seen that in “community cats” that they get used to people coming and going and don’t get attached to specific people … like if you moved would he do the same with other people?

Dunno. I’ve just noticed that in the last week or so, he’s spending a lot more time with us and changing what had been a pretty consistent pattern of about what times he showed up or left for the day.

We’re having a blood drive at irk today.
I tried to donate. They had a lot of trouble getting a flow going. Lots of sticking by 3 different techs. When they did get it going, it was so slow they only got about half a bag before I clotted.

They said they can still use what they collected for “research,” so I guess that’s something.

Cookie Arg. Just what you needed. How bad was the damage to your car?

Wheelie Have you had issues with donating blood before? Did they say anything about why it might be clotting like that?

Thanks for your concern, Sunny; I’m fine.
They said clotting is a natural reaction to bleeding (which makes sense), and because the flow was slow there just wasn’t time to get a full unit before it stopped.

First time it’s happened to me, but one of my co-irkers said he had the same problem last time he donated.

I blame them for not getting the needle in properly, but that may or may not have been the issue. Anyway, they assured me it happens from time to time and is nothing to worry about.

Glad you got the house sold bumba.

Sorry about the car cookie. When I lived in an apartment complex with some senior housing, that was a constant thing in the parking lot.

seanette, sometimes those silver bullets don’t even let the air out of the tire. I picked one up around the irkplace, where they were doing some construction years ago and didn’t notice it until I hit a speed that made the constant click, click, click obvious. Like you, the garage down the street from me was able to pull it out and plug the tire.

Moooooooom, I’m with whoever suggested hiding FIL’s toolbox. When Mom got to a certain point in her dementia, we had to put child guards on the knobs of their gas range to keep her from burning the place down. Like your FIL with tools, she was always cooking and loved it before that.

I hope that the itch gets calmed down nellie.

Phoebe is a cutie pie wheelie!

How is Bailey getting along oopsie?

Irked in my guest spot again today. The guy who buffs in special projects is there too and I’m guessing that we both will be until our shipment comes in. As it stands, the machine that wipes and dispositions the phones was down for a couple of hours today, so I had to distribute the phones that normally would have gone through it to everyone to be processed manually (normally, the disposition for most of them is bag and tag, meaning that the only things needing done are to put them in ESD bags and print the receiving label. The others have to be manually processed, but the down time meant that that number was 100%).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Supper has been ingested, dishwasher is washing, daughter and grands have gone home. I’ll be helping FCD on the boat tomorrow, labeling wires and fun stuff like that. Then daughter and the grands will come over after Roxy’s done with school, and we’ll go swimming. I need to remember a swim t-shirt - I don’t want to burn.

The rest of today is for chillage. I’m good with that.

Phoebe is a sweetie! Cute as newborns are, I prefer when babbies start becoming interactive - they’re much more fun!

I’m sure there was more I wanted to say, but I can’t brain anymore…

Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions, had some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon, and accomplished nappage and day drinkin’. Sup also got cooked and et. The joys of retired life! Have I mentioned lately how dang much I enjoy bein’ a retired drain on society?

Wheelie Phoebe is a little cutey pie! The big hospital in these parts is Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Everybody calls it Phoebe. This is a thing you now know.

Cookie hope the ding is not too bad and gets fixed soonest.

MetalMouse hope the plumbin’ woes are minimal, though it sounds pretty major.

Nellie hope you’re less itchy now.

Logged onto irk a little after six in the ayem. I nuked a couple of mini-fritatas (‘egg bites’) around 0830. At a quatah past 13 I thought I should break for lunch, and had a sammy with some Baken-Ets. By fifteen-anna-quatah I thought I’d do a chore, then go out and chop wood for some exercise. But I discovered I had to run an errand. It was past four when I got home. I put two slices of that frozen pizza I made a week and a half ago, plus three small chicken legs, into the toaster oven. Mrs. L.A. had one slice of pizza, and I had the other and the legs. Now it’s 17:20 and I haven’t had any exercise. I think I’ve missed my window, as it’s supposed to rain tomorrow.

That could very well be, I just put it down to Cats is Weird.

I have a bunch I could send you but hopefully by the time they got there, you wouldn’t need them anymore. I hope your recovery progresses as expected.

I am so sorry this is happening. I thought it was a nightmare when we had water under our front porch, but it was on stilts, not a slab. All fingers crossed that it doesn’t cause enough subsidence to crack your foundation.

nettie I think that Buddy is showing good taste in slaves and has learned that he likes you and DH better than all of the others.

Ouch! I’m usually an easy stick but once in a while my veins say “Nope”. I’ve learned to really overdo the water the day before the stick, it seems to help. Or it might just be a placebo that makes me relax which makes it easier for the vampires, I dunno. I hope this won’t stop you from trying to donate again, from what I understand, all of the blood banks are struggling to to get donors.

Like you don’t already have enough on your hands. Dang. At least she did the right thing, there is that. What a pain.

So, I had a doctor appointment because my insurance company didn’t want to pay for my Armor Thyriod meds because they only want to cover the generic. I had serious side effects with the generic so took the letter to my doctor and she wanted a blood draw to show that the Armor was doing it’s job properly. That was two weeks ago.

I went to see her today and waited an hour and a half. That has never happened before, usually they stick close to their schedule. Today she said all of my numbers looked great…except my thyroid which needed adjust so she INCREASED my dose. If my insurance company didn’t like me before, they really aren’t going to like me now, LOL!

I wrote a check to Fish and Game today and hubs said the one I sent last month hadn’t been cashed so i spend an hour on the phone trying to track it down. We’ve come to the conclusion that it was lost in the mail, but knowing how things can happen are not going to “return” that money to our checking account lest they find the check in a couple of months and forget their promise to not cash it. (A tank of potable water for wildlife is fifty bucks. I want to keep those foolish deer out in the scrub instead of wandering around on roads looking for water. Fish and Game gets a paper check because I want to see the department deposit stamp.)

It appears very minor, but it’s the hassle to get it repaired that’s annoying me. Parts are scarce and body shops are 2-3 months out on scheduling, according to my daughter who is an agent for Progressive.

The person who did it wanted me to get an estimate so she could just write a check and not have her rates go up, but said daughter warned me off on that, mainly because it’s possible that there may be damage that won’t be seen until they start taking things apart. Pain in the arse.

Hello, my darling MMPs. I had an … interesting birthday afternoon, the details of which would cause many pearl-clutching so I shall not spill the tea.
Thank you ALL for the kind comments. I am working on finding a new job, one where I’m appreciated. Honestly, that’s all I ask.

Mega t-boomer moved thru. We heard a clattering on the roof - I suspect a branch. We shall see in the morning. There was also a tornado warning, but we’re not in Oz, so it must have missed us.

Time for sleepy-bye…

I’ve been keeping the bird seed outside in a plastic tub with no problem for months. Apparently some raccoons took note recently. I was heading out last night to bring the tub back in and saw a little coon snout as I was opening the door. Better than the time I opened the door to see a family of skunks.

Evening all. Plumbing is fixed (I hope), the guys will be back tomorrow to put concrete in the holes they made and put the bathroom sink back in it’s proper place, then I guess I’ll get the bill… Also need to call the carpet folks, they had to take up the hallway carpet and recommended that I get professionals in to relay it. So hopefully by the end of this week life will return to normal…

Shoe, pearl-clutching is what we do best…but hope things go well for you.

Cookie, sorry about your car getting damaged. And daughter sounds pretty smart, albeit i would do the same as that woman and offer to write you a check.

JtC, the plumbers didn’t seem to be worried about the foundation, it was in the gravel base below the concrete and doesn’t seem to have eaten away at it or softened the ground to much.

OK, it’s late and I was up early, so even if I didn’t get my swimmin’ and sauna in today, I’ll be heading off to bed shortly. Catch up with all y’all tomorrow.

Phoebe is a fine looking baby. I would love to kiss those cheeks!

The itching got better. Now it’s worse again. If it’s no better in the morning, I’ll call the doc. I’m trying not to think of that possibility, as it makes me want to cry, move to Mars (because Sir Elton says “It’s cold as hell,” which makes it seem soothing when you’re itchy), and scream, in that order. Shite. Was I Mussolini in a former life or something?

Cookie, I get it. This is why I never parked in the Senior Lot. Of course, that meant senior in high school, but same dicy proposition. I called it the Bumper Car Lot. I hope repairs are less of a hassle than they seem like they’d be.

shoe: Spill. Tea. Spill. Tea. We prefer our tea spilled! Glad you got to have some fun.

Yes, Let’s.

I’m open to suggestions. There’s a big ol’ STOP sign she also missed seeing, apparently, so who knows if anything would catch her eye. Maybe I need a hat with a revolving red light so I look like a cop car.

JtC, I told my sister, a long-time cat slave, the story of GG vs. the Bunny Slippers, and she thought it was hysterical and “That sounds like cat-think, all right.”

It just missed me, but wreaked lots of damage in Omaha, 60 miles down the interstate. Thanks for asking :purple_heart::blue_heart::green_heart: Glorious thunder and lightning storm though.

I had a roofer up on my roof today, hail or not, because I developed three leaks in my living quarters. The roofer says there is old hail damage and I’ll be starting a claim with my insurer tomorrow. Already did a new furnace this year, a $10,000 roof is gonna be the end of me. I may need JtC to drop off surplus produce for me. Eating is about the only thing I have left to give up. As mooom would say, sheesh!

I had bad migraines after my traumatic brain injury. Crippling. I had (finally) successful treatment from a neurologist sub specialist in headache medicine, so we should do a Zoom!

STOP RIGHT HERE AND NOW!!! Co not contact your insurance yet, talk to the roofer again and ask how old the hail damage was and if some of the damage was within the last few months. If the damage is all old, they will pro-rate the roof and only give you a pittance of the cost to repair. If the roofer is able to find newish damage, you can probably get your insurance to cover everything. Get a second opinion if needed.

If you talk to them before having the above discussion with the roofers, your insurance company will automatically deny everything because they think you are trying to cheat them. You are the only one who knows how you feel about how insurance works and if shopping for the right roofer is cheating.

I know this kinda stuff and had our roof replaced after a hard storm last year so my info is current. (We didn’t want to put that kind of money out on our roof so shopped roofers carefree. The company we used has been around for 20 years, we feel pretty comfortable with their 30 year guarantee.)

We have ridden motorcycles all of our adult lives and making people SEE us is a constant source of conversation. Movement seems to work better than bright colors. Fringe, flags, balloons that sort of things. Drivers are taught to look for cars, after a few years of driving, they stop looking for not-cars because they are focused on cars and on not damaging their car by hitting another car or wall or sign post or whatever.

Reflectors on your granny cart could help catch the eye, ribbons or silk flowers waving in the air might help as well.

I would be happy to sew sequins all over a long sleeved shirt for you. Pick a loose fitting one so your movement will make sequins move and shine in the sun.

I’m glad I made your sister laugh, GG is a constant source of amusement for us as well!
