A Dead Cat Thread

Remember this guy?
Mr. Cancer ate him up. He used to talk with me, followed me everywhere, helped me put the kids to bed. Was a perfect gentlecat when he would go in for his vet checkups & boosters. Never bugged the gerbils and would keep the other cats away from their cage. Basically one of those rare sentient cats. Totaly trusted me. Even on our last trip to the vet’s office, at 4.5 pounds, a mere shadow of his former glory who was first recognized by the vet as “a big kitty.” In his prime he was 13.5 pounds and as lean as a marathon runner. When doc pushed the gravy into his IV Lock, he looked up at me with his bright eyes and said only, “Mow” and then off he went into that realm of somnambulistic bliss. I was doing alright up until that point.

So, I guess we’ll never find out who that was in the grassy knoll.

Sorry dude :frowning: When anything or anyone dies I try to remember at least they

don’t have to continue to breath the fetid air in this (the world ) festering

shithole of death.

So sorry, Inigo. I lost my oldest cat, the best and most interesting of all the cats I’ve had over the years, just last August to kidney failure. We brought her home at the end and I got to sit with her until she died a few hours later. I’m going to be a long time getting over her.

My condolences, Inigo. I too have lost cats. It’s never easy.

Um, I’m sorry about your cat, dude and I’m sorry I posted that glib comment. I wasn’t mocking you and I’m sorry if it sounded that way. I’m a idiot.

Rough, ain’t it, Inigo? Our Princess had to go to the Happy Hunting Ground a month or so ago. Right up to when the sedative was administered, she was acting like our vet’s intern was her bestest buddy in the whole wide world, despite the fact that she was running a fever and had a tumor in her head that was starting to break through the skin of her neck.

Aw, now I’m clouding up again. Dammit.

Sorry to hear about your kitty. It’s never easy to lose something you’ve spent that much time loving and being loved by. He was a very distinguished looking gentleman.

Inigo, I’m so sorry. I hope it is a comfort to you to know you spared him as much pain as you could. You and your family are in my thoughts.

So sorry. I’ve lost two in the past five years of similar age and because of the same reason. It’s never easy.

Nuts. In my world wit is always welcome, hence the glib thread title. Death is always funny, if only because the butt of the joke is completely defenseless.

I’m very sorry about your kitty.

I’m so sorry.

You have my sympathies, Inigo. I hope your cat is happy, in feline Valhalla, with all the tuna fish it can eat and all the mice it can chase.

sigh

I have had a few cats, but have never been through having one euthanized.

I now have my Bertram, a DLH (domestic long hair) who has such a loving personality, that I know it will be painful for me if I have to go through this.

I am involved (as a silent partner) in my local Humane Society/Animal Shelter, and Inigo, believe me when I tell you that your kitty had some wonderful times with you that many cats who end up at the shelter may not have had.

You were there with him during his final few minutes, and that’s something a friend does for a friend.

I think that Mow might have been a “thank you”.

Thanks

Q

Sorry.

:frowning:

Sorry to hear about your kitty, Inigo, it’s always tough to say goodbye to them. I lost my beloved Orly a few months ago to a traffic accident and am still missing her little fluffiness to this day. Merlyn looked like a real charmer though.
