A disturbing trend

2007 was the Chinese year of the Chicken - we saw bird flu
2008 was the year of the Horse - Australia got equine fle
2009, the year of the Pig - enter swine flu

2010 is the year of the Cock… nothing good can come of this…

Man, I told you about buying your Chinese calendars at the dollar store.

That’s what I get for being in too big of a hurry to cut & paste.

2010 is actually the year of the Tiger.

Nice pussy.

Last year was the ox and the year before that was the rat.

Sorry, 2007 was the year of the Pig, '08 was Rat, '09 Ox and 2010 will be the year of the Tiger.

We will see '11 Cat, '12 Dragon, '13 Snake, '14 Horse, '15 Goat, '16 Monkey, '17 Rooster, '18 Dog.
Then rinse and repeat.

Sorry, cite for my last post is Suzanne White’s Book of Chinese Chance.

In my slight defense, I copied that from someone who should know better. So it didn’t occur to me to cross check.

Mea culpa.

I don’t believe there is a year of the Cat. You’re missing Sheep, so that’s probably what that should be.

If the past month has been any indication, 2010 will most certainly not be the year of the Tiger.

My book is based on the Viet Namese calender, which uses some different animals. The Chinese year of the rabbit, is the year of the cat in Viet Nam, the sheep is the goat.

Okay, so cat scratch fever?

here are the Chinese signs.
Here are the Vietnamese signs. The only difference my book shows is the (Water) Buffalo as the Ox.
