A faster return after posting?

Maybe I’m just impatient. After I make a reply post, the system takes me to my freshly made post. Then I click the BACK button four times, quickly. Back, back, back, back, like some electronic Chris Berman. Is there a more direct way to get back to the forum I was in?

You could click the link across the top that says “About This Message Board” or “MPSIMS” or whatever forum you’re in. It took me a while to learn that, believe it or not.

Here’s a method that works if you’re using IE.

Instead of merely clicking on a thread to bring it up, right-click on the thread and pick “open in new window”. Then when you’re done, just close the thread and the forum list is waiting for you.

Oops. Make that “the forum thread list is waiting for you.”

Running Netscape something or other, I also use the “Open in New Window” feature.

Actually, I now do something else. I open one window to view threads, and another window for replies, with a third window for the forum list. I copy and paste the thread link into the thread window URL field and open there, the copy and paste the REPLY button link into the next window. I do this to keep from opening and closing new windows, but it’s probably easiest to use the new window method.

That way, I have the forum list on tap, can review the thread as I compose the reply, and once I hit submit I can merrily go back to the forum list and pick my next topic while the server is cranking.

Irishman, that method initially seemed to me to be way too much work, but you do seem to save a lot of time waiting, and the ability to review the thread side by side with your reply window is intriguing. I’ll have to give that some thought.

I use the “open in new window” method as well. In response to AskNott’s question, that would be faster, or the method suggested by Yo La Tengo would also be faster. One click back to the forum front.
