Another 40-50 boxes this morning. Plus we tricked my brother into stopping by, so he went home with a half-dozen boxes of stuff, too. Ma was smart enough to wait until we got back to my house before she started talking politics, at least… too many witnesses on this end of the county!
Ooommmmm! Deep cleansing breath! “I will not beat my mother with a shovel.” Repeat. Again.
Waiting for my cousin to come pick up the trailer hitch, then taking the kids to the fair. My new niece is showing two hogs tonight, so Big Brother and his new bride will be there, and my 80-year-old aunt is coming to look at the exhibits, and it ought to be a pleasant evening.
Heading south tomorrow to visit the in-laws for a couple of days. I love them dearly, so hooray. But Mama K is a fluttery, dither-y lady, so I’ll also be glad to come home Friday!
We go down South* on New Year’s Day for fun & frolic in the Atlantic Ocean. Iffn you had stayed home, coulda come helped you celebrate & then taken the normal dip.
Absolutely do not beat her with the shovel. Iffn it breaks during the beating, howze will you dispose of the body…use the ax handle instead.
Howdy Y’all! Home from fine Eye-talian dinin’ at Dawson Manor. Actually it was not too bad plus there was peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert! JDD’s 'rents were happy to see us and we were glad to see them so all went well.
Soccer practice for the boys went well, only had to bench two of them for five minutes and no one had to run laps (I swear, I don’t know how elementary teachers manage). Now dining on Mac-n-Cheese while I type this (multi-tasking, that’s me). Lawn Mowage is planned for Hump day, in advance of the predicted rain forecast for Thorsday.
We’re going to Hawai’i in December! Wheeeeeeeeeee! A real, actual vacation. Where people serve you food, and clean your room, and nice people bring you drinks when you ask them. More than one even. This particular resort has an all day kids program. We haven’t decided if we’re signing the kids up for that. It’s mighty tempting. They also have a ginormous salt water lagoon (?) that is stocked with all kinds of local fish. Essentially, you can snorkel with the pretty fishes, and my timid ones need not worry about bein’ et by sharks. You can talk with marine biologists, who will also let you help feed the fishes.
I am in no way bathing suit ready. I have decided to adopt the belief that the the polynesian body shape is ideal. I shall fit right in.
Mom and I spent much of the day at Wendy’s today, for a nice change of scenery from home. They have very comfortable chairs there in the corner, and power outlets for my laptop. Sometimes I forget I’m even in a restaurant. Unfortunately they also have CNN on the television in that corner.
**Sunny **- your vacation sounds exactly like what a vacation should be - someone else tending to your ever desire! YAY!!
Tonight, I’ll start packing. I’ll leave my suitcase on the bed in the guest room and make sure to keep the door locked so Taz doesn’t get in. I can’t pack everything yet, but I can get a lot started - I know I won’t need shorts or my bathing suit before Saturday, and I think I can decide what to wear to work for the next 2 days, set that aside, and figure out what I need to take. That’ll make Firday evening less insane, which is good.
But first, I have to get thru today. Here’s hoping I’m busy enough that the time files by.
So I was out for most of yesterday. I met with a friend in the morning about a potential job, met with other friends for lunch, got my temporary handicapped placard, and took the sprog to the dentist. I deliberately didn’t stop at home because it’s harder to get in and out of the house than it is to get in and out of the car. Despite the activity, I don’t feel all that bad this morning.
I picked up a freelance job yesterday. Yay freelancing!
I have nothing scheduled for today, so it’s off to watch TV and veg.
I’ve been told by someone in the resort industry that the only bodies in bathing suit shape at these places are the models in the brochures. You gotta love who you are.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and clear for the day. By Firday we’re promised highs in the mid to upper 70s. We shall see. I shall clean the bathrooms and kitchen today. Rah. Dindin shall be hamburger steak ‘n gravy, smashed N.O.T., green beans, squish and cornbread. I got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for southern U.S.ofA. comfort food. Oh and I slept until seven-thirty this mornin’. Maybe I’m gettin’ the hang of retirement now.
Sunny yay for vacation!
{{{Flipper}}} ::TackleHug:: LTNS!
Rockin’ yestiddy sounds like it was an eventful day. Today is a well-deserved day to rest.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, I suppose I should clean myself up and get busy.
Very busy morning, and pseudo-boss just dropped a fairly hot drawing on my desk - he needs it before I leave for vacation. So once lunch is over, I shall attack it.
I checked with Royal Caribbean - we leave Baltimore at 4, but they require that everyone be checked in and on board 90 minutes before departure, so we don’t have as much time as I thought to get there. Not that it’s an issue. I’m glad we’re leaving at 4 - that’ll give us more daylight for the trip down the Bay. I’m hoping we’ll see our old sailing grounds - not sure if we’ll get that far south before dark.
The place where **FCD **likes to get his Wednesday fried chicken just opened a new location - or maybe they relocated, I’m not sure. Anyway, we may go check it out tonight.
Today is my first bf’s birthday. I haven’t seen him in over 40 years, but for some reason, his birthday is stuck in my brain. Like I told him in the email I sent him this morning, I can’t remember if I fed the dog, but I remember Oct 19 is his birthday…
Of all the things that I have lost, I miss my mind the most.
Have survived the fair. Unfortunately, my niece’s show hog didn’t place last night, but her market hog did. And I finally convinced my elderly aunt to “just humor me,” and look at the exhibits in the building marked “Arts and Crafts.” We had already traipsed around for an hour, because my aunt wanted to see the art entries, and refused to believe that they weren’t in the same area where they’ve always been located. (Auntie’s friend won the blue ribbon for oil painting. We both disagreed with the judging on the quilts - first and second places should have been reversed.) The little girls rode a few rides, the big girls (2.0 and her friend) rode everything. (I didn’t watch, because I find the big people rides terrifying in theory anyway, and even worse knowing that my babies are putting their lives in the hands of sketchy transient carnival employees and questionable inspection standards.) Ate too much junk, ran into a thousand old friends, and finally got out of there! Phew!
Today’s trip to the in-laws’ is either postponed or cancelled. I’d just assume that Girl 3.0 has a tummy ache due to carnival food, but The Mister is also feeling puny today. Probably some minor stomach bug, but Mama Too just had knee surgery, and Papa has some major health issues, and we don’t need to import a virus to their house.
So I guess I get to spend the day cleaning my own house, and cataloging some more of the Boxes O’ Goodies. After all of the noise and people last night, that sounds very relaxing!
