A Football Follow-up MMP

{{{Dotty}}} - your duty is to beat the odds! We’re all with you.

Sunday is all set up. My mom, sister, and I are meeting at a restaurant about a mile from the funeral home. We’ll have lunch before heading over. It’s an odd situation - the deceased’s father is my mom’s youngest brother. There’s been a lot of drama between him and my mom and we’re pretty sure it’s all played out in his head. He didn’t come to my parents’ 50th anniversary party. He didn’t come to my dad’s funeral. He did show up for their only sister’s funeral, but left right after the graveside service and didn’t come to lunch with us. Then he called my mom about 3 months after he buried their brother - couldn’t be bothered to tell her he’d died. Nor has he called Mom about his daughter - we only know because my sister was FB friends with her. It’s a weird dynamic.

Anyway, my Sunday is pretty much gone now. It’s just over an hour anna half there, so that’s more than 3 hours of driving, plus whatever time we spend at lunch, plus probably less than an hour at the funeral home. I just hope I get home before dark.

Yesterday before leaving work, I sent my boss an email telling him I was almost out of work, and I made a comment about idle hands. :smiley: This morning, there are 2 electronics items in my office to be modeled - yay! I like doing models - it’s way more of a challenge than just doing drawings!

Unfortunately, he’ll also want me to do work orders. That’s sheer administrative boredom! But it all pays the same, right?

Anyway, Happy Firday!!

Yay for schoolin’, Nuts!

Good mornin’ y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 37 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 58 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. No big plans other than laundry and ironin’ shirts. I took some beast stew outta da freezer for dindin. That and cornbread should make for a nice meal. Plus I plan to make a peach cobbler cause I want me some peach cobbler.

{{{Dotty}}} like MOOOOOOM said your job is to beat the odds We’re all pullin’ for ya!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then I suppose I should purtify a bit and get the laundry started.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Dotty, like Han Solo, “never quote me the odds” Youll beat this. {{{hugs}}}

Nuts, hooray for your schooling. May it be everything you expect.

Mooooomm, often funerals and weddings are the only time estranged family see each other; hence the drama. Hope it all goes well you all y’all.

Napped yesterday so up at 0530 today. On the other hand I’m over 24% on two-suit Spider Solitare, which is my best run in a long time, so there is that. In the 30’s-40’s F the next few days, warm enough for no snow but cold enough to make going outside not fun, so probably will stay cooped up. No rain in the forecast until Super Bowl Sunday, so there is that…

Happy Firday.

It’s a cloudy 35 degrees outside. Didn’t feel that bad when I put the dog out.

Everyday I evaluate the dog’s health. He’s not suffering but I don’t know that he is really enjoying life either. He sleeps most of the day, he seldom wants attention, a few pets and he is done. He likes his treats and I’m giving him a little canned food everyday because he really likes that. He’s a little wobbly at times, more than a little confused at times, and he has had a few accidents in the house lately. When he asks to go out he means NOW.
This morning I let him out, feeling sad and wondering when?
And damn if the little brat didn’t notice the back gate is open and try to make a run for it. Of course it was a very slooooow run, more like a amble, and he didn’t go far before he decided to turn around and come back.
Nice to know the old man still has a bit of life in him.

Today is grocery day, I’m already doing laundry. I cleaned out the junk drawer last night (how did I ever end up with 7 rolls of tape?) and I have to reassemble it today.

I’m a bit impressed with Sah-son, not only is he working ahead this semester, one of his assignments was about the Maasai tribe in Africa. There were a few issues he could have written about and to my surprise he went with FGM. Of course he told me, *I don’t really know the details, and I don’t want to know the details, but I know it’s painful and not a good thing for women. *
He has a kind heart but a low squick tolerance.

I don’t know where he gets it.

{{{Dotty}}}

Blurf.

Today is my first day off since the 16. I want to spend all day relaxing and doing nothing, but unfortunately there is always house chores to do. Oh well, time to get started on the day.

Happy Firday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m off today.:slight_smile:

Looks fun. :slight_smile: And since Convention is in the Philly area in 2018, maybe worth a stop.

At least you’re not Down With The Sickness.:wink:

Congrats! And now you will no longer be menaced by the vicious Chicken of Bristol.

{{{{{Dotty}}}}
Keep fighting. And fuck cancer.

\m/

Prayers ascend and all the hugs and good vibes I can muster are yours.
For those who are interested in such things, I picked Alanta.
Other than that, just some puttering and thinking about a meeting I should attend tomorrow. Since its further into the snow zone and the predictions are not good I am mostly thinking of calling it off for another day.

{{Dotty}}

I’m not accepted on the course yet! Hard not to get a bit excited though :slight_smile:

Currently struggling with writing a personal statement, I hates writing such things I does, it always winds up feeling like “What I did on my holidays, by Filbert, age 6”.

I liek plants let me in plees.

{{Dotty}}

Blurf Irking of course. Since my accounting payable person died, my friend Denise, I am getting tons of calls from my vendors wondering why their payments are later than usual. Denise had them all spoiled.

I got home last night and my cat was no where to be found. I have an old military issue cabinet like an armoire or chifferobe and had hung a sweater in in as soon as I got home. Well three hours later when I went to my bedroom I heard the cat locked in that cabinet. Dummy.

Our beautification project continues. There is a concrete patio out back with a curved wall surrounding it. There was a huge bush in a corner that was out of hand. Well, along with a camp host we hacked the majority of it down yesterday. The grounds maintenance boys will come around and dig up the roots or at least level them so I can put something else in that spot. I can not have nice plants at home due to the Key Deer so I will just garden here at irk.

TGIF. Finally and it’s payday too.

(((((Dotty)))))

One load of laundry washed, dried, and put away, a second load in the dryer, and a third in the washer. Plus, shirts are ironed. Go Me! I think I shall reward myself in a little while with a burger and a beer at the little bar down the road from da cave.

My Saturday should be loads o’fun! We’ll be cutting up a tree that fell across the fence, then repairing the fence so Higgs can’t escape. Good times. **FCD **just called to tell me he bought a replacement chain for our chainsaw and he’ll be cleaning and servicing it this afternoon in anticipation of fun and frolic tomorrow.

Actually, I had to insist that he wait till I could help him - otherwise, he was going to cut up the tree today. Recall, this is the man who had 3 spinal surgeries last year and is still having some back pain. He makes me crazy sometimes, and not in a good way. Such a guy…

I remembered to close out my time card this morning - go me! Especially important because next week we get paid, so today’s time goes to that. I like my job, but not enough to do it for free. :smiley:

Meanwhile, 4 hours to go. Not that I’m counting. OK, I am counting.

{{{Dotty}}}
I has a sad. :frowning:
This is/was where the name Spiderman originated. In 30+ years, it never rained on the race!
Doggio, where, zactly is your [Del]drunken degenerate gathering[/Del] Hockey convention?

nettie, does the princess take a swipe at, oh, say, people from her perches? We had a Siamese mix growing up that nailed my dad’s bald head from her perch on the clothesline post one time. Needless to say, he was not pleased. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{dotty}}} If there’s anything a mumper from half a world away can do for you, please say something.

doggio, you’re off everyday! :smiley:

butters, are you allowed to do any edible gardening at irk? If I could garden at irk, I’d be eating snap beans, maters and sweet corn fresh and in season without having to go to the farmer’s market.

It actually looks like I will duck out a little early today. Yay for weekends!

Cat is getting on my nerves.

Yesterday he got the earpiece off my bluetooth and was batting it around. Then he knocked my phone on the floor and chewed on the case.

He just now went for my bluetooth again and when I moved that he went for my phone.

He has toys all over the house but they aren’t good enough.

Tell him NO! and he just sits there and stares at me.
Time to pull the water bottle back out.

**Doggio ** I thought you were off everyday!

Howdy Y’all! Back from N.O.L. 'Twas good. Now I want a nap. Retirement really takes it out of a person! :smiley:

I changed the sheets, am doing laundry, and made quinoa with cheese and egg fo brunch. Yay household productivity.

Vally Forge, Pa. area. Details TBA

I mosh to the beat of a different xylophone.:smiley:

I know, poor Gordie needs 8 naps a day.

Ditto Dotty If you need anything please let us help.

Red I wish I could plant edibles but there are tons of iguanas here and there are only few certain things they won’t eat. :frowning: Luckily I have a neighbor with a fenced yard that grows tomatoes, beans, peppers, bananas and is very generous with us. Our growing season for that kind of stuff is now. Tomatoes get planted in Oct-Nov. It’s way too hot to grow in the summer like most places.
