I think it’s supposed to mean Linux/BSD. And despite OSX being based on BSD, it’s not open source.

I think they just wanted a recognizable computer (and I shudder that that’s recognizable)

Bits of it are open source (Apple Open Source), but I agree - if it’s aimed at Apple, the joke is just off-target, because the connection between Apple and Open Source just isn’t very prominent in the collective conscious.
