I’ve always been a reader. I have three main “things”: music, words, and language. All for as long as I can remember – e.g., reading at a 2nd-grade level when I was in kindergarten. I’m mostly a contemporary fiction person, and if I had to name a favorite genre it would probably be legal/police thrillers: my favorite author was P.D. James, and I’m currently 18 books into the Chief Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny (#19 comes out in two months!). So, I enjoy the whole John Grisham/Scott Turow/Michael Connelly/David Baldacci/Patricia Cornwell/James Patterson shebang, and I’m a fan of J.K. Rowling writing as Robert Galbraith (as well as herself). But I also love Stephen King and his son Joe Hill, I’ve read all of the Dresden Files books (and some other fantasy), and for a long time I was a huge Dean Koontz fan. A while back Koontz’s books started leaving me feeling “meh,” but my all-time-favorite book is still Watchers. There are many books I love, from various genres.
Right now I’m reading What’s Next, a nonfiction “backstage pass to The West Wing” that was just released last week (written by two actors from the show, Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack). I’m a Wingnut – the nickname for superfans – so I’m enjoying it.
Yesterday afternoon I got a bee in my bonnet and did some Lego-based furniture rearranging. The 3BR 1BA single-level house I rent has a small eat-in kitchen, and I’d recently started toying with the idea of putting some display shelves in there. But doing so wouldn’t leave much room to actually use the kitchen table, so I decided to try some rearranging first. It involved moving lots of books, a set of glass shelves, and a big glass curio cabinet (full of the Swarovski crystal figurines I’ve collected over the years) between the LR, kitchen, and home office; then, I moved all of the completed Lego sets that were on the home office bookcase to the set of glass shelves (newly in the LR). The whole endeavor took somewhere around 90 minutes, but a chunk of that time was spent cleaning the curio cabinet shelves and contents for the first time in several years. I’m happy with the new location of the cabinet – the contents get more light, and now can be viewed from the sides – and am very happy to see everything inside it clean and sparkly again! Anyway, now all of my assembled Lego sets are in the LR and there’s room for a few new ones…which is good timing, because my staycation is just 3 weeks away.
I hope he’s recovering well!
I’ve driven faster than that.

Yay!
Ooooo, thank you for sharing: my nephew’s GF is into both Lego and puzzles, and now I’m wondering if she might like one of those for Christmas.
I sooooo know the feeling! I decided to get tough with myself about how much snacking I do, starting today, and it’s ridiculous how strong my craving for chips and cookies is right now. Sigh. I know from experience that it will pass after a few days, but…why, brain?!?
Oh no! Oh, I’m so sorry.
