A Lake Effect MMP

Hi everyone!

Wow - so much stuff happening! {{Busguy and Buskid}}} {{{Taters}}} And anyone else I might have missed.

I had to go for a blood-letting today too, FCM. The good news is my diabetes is stable, as is my blood pressure. I hate fasting!!! I finally got a cuppa around 9:15. The doc also gave me some scripts to stop this nasty congestion and coughing.

I had to take my car in for recall repairs, so I’m driving a rental - a Chevy Malibu. It’s ok, I guess, and it’s only for a day.

So here I am at work on my day off, and I thought the server had died, but NO… it just went down for maintenance or something. I wanted an excuse to leave!

I will be leaving at around 3:00 - there is a going away send-off at the Pub next door for my ex-boss and another woman who is leaving the company. Friday night happy hour! w00t!

Back to work…

Yesterday afternoon I was just about to ask “I wonder where Taters is… she’s been missing this week” and then I saw the now-deleted post. I posted {{{Taters}}} but I’ll repeat it now since my post is among the missing.

I also posted {{{MBG and family}}} yesterday so I’ll repost that too. That’s really scary.

Our valentine’s dinner last night was really good. The lamb was tender and tres yummy with the marinade that KeithT made, and the sweet potato-goat cheese quasi raviolis were a highly successful experiment. Next time I think I’ll add some tarragon (N.O.Tarra.) or nutmeg or something but even without it they were really good. As was dessert.

Now it’s Friday afternoon and I’ve finished up what I’ve been working on this week and I don’t feel like starting anything new. Think I can kill 3 hours on the Dope?

Taxi, I do that about every day…I can’t seem to convince people that I don’t need as much time for things as is allocated, and they don’t have anything else for me to do.

I also recommend www.fark.com if you like zany news articles.

Thanks again everyone. Your hugs and kind words have been a blessing to me.

It’s going to be a long while before things seem right in my world again.

I should be cleaning, but I can’t make myself do it. The house is a mess and really needs it. Really, it’s about all I can do to get up and clean myself up.

Tomorrow, I’m going to call my Dad and ask if I can go over to his place to talk to him about all this. I know he’ll keep it a secret and I just need some hugs, advice, and above all to vent.

Nope, it’s an institutional thing. I was looking at the walls at work. Ah, state governments. Your disapproval of color amuses me.

On that note:

HIPPO BIRDIE SPECIALTWINS

Late because of my failing memory, but no less sincere: {{{{Taters}}}} - I missed the removed post, but I I still wish you all the best and offer my email as needed.

Nice surprise today - our state tax refund was deposited. Good timing, because we got 2 bills from doctors for FCD’s surgery (way back in Sept, remember??) I guess it took this long for the insurance company to settle up and for them to decide what our share is. Anyway, now I can pay them without dipping into savings, so yay.

I got my order from Amazon today - a blanket for our bed, plus DVDs of *Yellowbeard * and Godspell. I just watched *Godspell * and read IMDB about it - about half the cast has died. It was also kinda eerie to see “All For The Best” being performed atop the not-quite-finished World Trade Center. And it was a bit of a shock to find the actor who played Jesus was also played Bill in First Wives Club, but it explained why he always looked familiar but I couldn’t place him.

Waiting for **FCD ** to come home - I expect he’s still working on the boat. At least I hope he is, and not drowned or anything. Guess I should think about supper.

Yeah, and I went over to foodnetwork.com to come up with dinner ideas for the week. I do my grocery shopping on Fridays after work so I needed to get my list ready.

And I just emailed my state representative and state senator. There’s a bill going through the state legislature to switch to presidential primaries from caucuses and I think it’s an EXCELLENT idea so I wrote to support the bill. I feel very civic-minded right now.

More {{{Taters}}}. We’re here for as much as you want to share on a public message board.

Drive by – thanks to all the well-wishers for the Terrible Twins’ B-day! It’s actually tomorow (Feb. 16), but since Sunday is a school day, we always have the parties on Fridays.

We’re about to force all the revelers to go to sleep already!!! and then do the same ourselves… night all!

Once more… {{{Taters}}} – you sound like you need all the hugs you can get :frowning:

Home from work, let the holiday celebrating (LOL) begin!

Hey, thanks for the reference, Taxi; tarragon is one of my favorite herbs and I do use it in dishes it works best in. It’s really tasty in tuna salad, btw.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPECIAL TWINS!!!

Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather last night! I actually got a romantic valentine and a box of chocolates!! So funny, because I always give him a Snoopy-related card, so my card to him wasn’t romantic at all.

I don’t know what was going on in my apartment complex at 1:30 this morning, but the resident manager was out there, as were several other people, and some sort of machine that was making quite a bit of racket! It could have been that a pipe was leaking somewhere and they were pumping water out, but I didn’t see any evidence of water run-off this morning. Dunno what it was and fortunately it only lasted about 30 minutes.

My friend is calling tonight and we’re going to see what we’ll do on Sunday–she’s had a rough time of it and at first didn’t remember me, when we first got in touch with each other about two years ago. We were both in a religious “cult” like group; she was married and had two kids–her children are still in the group so she’s kind of still around it on the fringe, I guess. I think she kind of blotted out a lot of memories when she and her husband divorced years ago. She says she eventually did recall me (I confided in her and also helped her care for her older daughter from time to time), so it will be interesting to meet her again.

Okay, that’s all I got. Huh, FCM, I hope your visit to the neurologist goes well … when I was reading your post, though, I missed the word “brain” in that sentence, and thought you were worried about your farts! LOL!!

Have a nice weekend, all.

Afternoon, everyone. Nat is on Driving Husband right now- they’re having a staring contest. I think Nat will win.
Doing laundry and thinking about dinner.

Continuing hugs for Taters.

first on 10!

that’s all. Have a good weekend, all (or in Echod’s case, have a good rest of the weekend)
rats! *::shakes fist at *Li-Li ** (but not Nat) ::
eta Aha! It was tarra’s double post that fooled me into thinking there was still one more to go on page 9
::shakes fist at tarra::

Well, we won’t be changing marinas just yet. Maybe later in the year, but with the impending wedding/graduation/move/other stuff, we’d end up wiping out our savings if we tossed the marina move into that mix. So no swimming pool and nice bathrooms this year.

**FCD ** is back and I think we’re in for the night. Supper will be leftovers. Chill mode is underway.

And I still have 3 more days this weekend. Yay!

Yanno, rosie, you might think about finding a different hobby that doesn’t revolve around being first on the page… :stuck_out_tongue:

you have your clay, and I have the interweb  :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re having leftover turkey stir-fry tonight. Well, I’ll attempt to eat it anyway.

I’ve got jury duty starting next week. I’m stuck on it for two weeks. Woo-hoo, lucky me. This is one time that I hope they don’t want me to come down. I just don’t feel up to it and it’s too late to back out. Additionally, I had already deferred it once.

Kind of sucks for work because we’re right in the middle of business planning which is something I need to learn. I also have reports that are due. Oh well.

After jury duty, I’m back at work for about two weeks, and then I’ll have to go TDY to San Antonio for a week. I’m taking an advanced WISDOM course. Woo-hoo, lucky me. I don’t really want to go, but I need to do it to show I’m “improving” myself and hopefully, I really will learn something there. I wasn’t too impressed with one of the instructors when I went to my first WISDOM course. He was a rather pompous ass and talked to us like we were first-graders. Additionally, woe betide anyone who came back from a break or lunch even ONE minute late, because then he would berate them in front of the class.
I gave him a bad write up and so did every other classmate, but there he still is. Ugh.

Frankly, I don’t want to go anywhere right now. I just want to stay home and cocoon.

Happy Birthday to the Terrific Twins

Happy Birthday to the Special Twins!

{{{Taters}}}

I think (fingers crossed) that everything is done for tonight’s dinner. I hope everything goes off without a hitch.

Now I need to write an article for Women’s History Month. It’s due by COB, I wonder what I can come up with by then?

ETA: Groan. And the survey. At least it’s one I need to fill out, not create.

And you were so mad that you won’t be able to work the full day? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, do they allow nekkid pics through e-mail?

the pic may be nekkid, but I’m not

Whoa, I am shopped out. United Colors of Benetton and Sisley were having a huge sale, so I bought a pair of slacks and a skirt for work purposes (the skirt has a hem of lace that I’m a little iffy on; not sure whether I should get it removed or not) and then I bought a red sweater dress that was my frivolous buy of the day. Well, that and the body scrub I got from Sabon. I got a belt from H&M but have decided I’m returning it on Monday - don’t like it upon reflection. Ouch, my poor legs.
