A Lake Effect MMP

Happy Anniversary mmouse.

Thanks too FCM for the e-card.

I didn’t nap, although I really wanted to.

I made a weight watchers version of pork adobo tonight for dinner. It turned out okay, I guess.

I guess we’re all going out to breakfast tomorrow. This should be interesting because the place we’re going to serves monster portions. Maybe I’ll stick with something simple instead of an omelette this time.

Or maybe not so stupid after all. Good friends are sometimes hard to find.

You definitely are kinda highty. :stuck_out_tongue:

That would be great!

well, that’s why coffee would be a good idea

and Pie, thanks for the set up - had I known I would have stayed at the computer a little longer before crawling into bed. I was sound asleep - dreaming weird dreams about running up stairs and missing the landing and floating above the floor :dubious:
Then the cat decided to stampede from window to hall and back again - using the shortcut acros the bed - and me. And if you don’t think one cat constitutes a stampede, you’ve never lived with a cat. =^.^=

Morning all! At work ( :frowning: ) unfortunately!

I just found this online! Mackay (in North Queensland) is where I was born. We only lived there until I was nearly 4, but most of my parents’ siblings still live there. 624mm (24.5in) of rain in 10 hours is like, WTF??? The place is drowning under more than 2 feet of rain, with more expected! More pics!

Okay, I gots to go pretend to do some work now!

You can put me down for Canterbury CT, making 3 people marked in CT!

Wow, dotty, that’s a *lot *of rain. Some of those pictures were pretty incredible. I can’t imagine that anyone can be prepared for two feet of rain in half a day.

The F***!?   That’s more rain than we get in a year!! (Tel-Aviv gets about 540 mm. In a year, not a day.)

And I thought we get some hard rains here sometimes (we usually get one day a year of 50-100 mm)…

In other news, I’ve sent you a visitor (Bahrain, Qatar… same difference :p)

But they suffer in the comparison – they’re even better when slightly distanced from that best thing…

{{{Rigs}}}, {{{SCL}}, {{{Taters}}}…

There’s a lot of unhappy campers around right now, isn’t there? :frowning:

Spaz – Tobacco is evil. Chewing it – doubly so.

Back to the salt mines…

Nooner, thanks for the visitor! I have to admit I’m not a huge tennis fan, but I hope she has a good tournament and a safe trip.

Just spoke to my Dad, who said my aunty and uncle’s house was above the water line, but fools on jet-skis and their idiot mates in their SUVs/trucks (diesel, equipped with snorkels) driving too fast down the flooded road created bow waves which swept over the patio and into the house, damaging all the carpets. Other cousins &c. have lost all their material belongings to flood damage. It will be a long haul back to dryness, with current loss estimates for the area approaching $1 billion.

I think Bahrain’s average yearly rainfall is about 70mm (a bit less than 3in), i.e. about 9 times less than Mackay got in 10 hours!

As for chew tabacky, it’s an eevil, disgusting habit that could only be practised by people who clearly never want to be in close (read: intimate) contact with another human being!

Mornin’

3:30 am…am I asleep like most people? Obviously not. Darn insomnia. Is anyone else awake out there?

Hey, it would be a perfectly reasonable hour if you were here… just sayin’

I think I forgot to say Happy Mousiversary!! to you before – so here it is!

Of course it would be a perfectly reasonable hour if I were there…but I’m not there! I’m here. LOL How many hours are you ahead, anyway? 6 or 7?

Thanks for the anniversary greetings.

You’re saying that like it’s my fault…?

7 hours, except during March and September (our shifts to and from DST are… wonky) when it can be 6 or 8 hours for a while.

I’m not saying anything is your fault … or maybe I should be saying everything is your fault. I wonder which is more correct.

gotcha

U p and off to work!

Is it quit o’clock yet? I have done sweet FA so far today (it is now 1400) and I have no intention of doing anything productive before I leave. I am just hanging round for the sake of appearances! :stuck_out_tongue:

The former for bad news… and the latter for good news, of course!

I’ve never understood this mindset. Then again, I have a hard time understanding STOOPIT PEOPLE!!! Those photos were heartbreaking, Dotty. I can’t imagine what it must be like to have your home reduced to a sodden mess. We’ve been fortunate that most of our houses have been high enough to be safe from flooding, assuming the animals aren’t going two-by-two. Hope your family members recover from this mess quickly.

We watched *Yellowbeard * last night. I just love that movie - if you haven’t seen it, you really should. Then I crashed in front of the bedroom TV and watched a little till I knew I was falling asleep. **FCD ** stayed up somewhat later watching the big TV in the family room. So he’s still crashed out while I’m up and wired.

Part of the reason I couldn’t sleep in - I started thinking about what we’re going to do with the critters when we go to FL for the wedding. I’ve gotten no response to my ad asking for someone to live in my house, so I guess I’ll have to board them all. I really hate to do that. The dogs can go together, but the poor cat can’t be with them, and he’s barely adapted to our place as it is. I do have a coworker who lives close to me and he’s been in this county for eons - maybe he knows someone who’ll sleep over our place for a week…

Today’s fun and frolic includes laundry, paying some bills, and general tidying. There’s a spot on the living room carpet that needs to be scrubbed, too. I was going to do it yesterday, but I was distracted by something shiny. I also need to clean the fridge and do some grocery shopping. Gotta get ready for our baby’s visit on Thurs! YAY!

Sorry for 2 posts in a row, but I just love this strip - it’s on my regular rotation. Today’s just cracked me up, so I had to share.

You know, I hate it when we’re expected to feel sorry for telling the truth. It’s one thing to say white lies or bite your tongue to spare people pain, but dangit, right now my SiL’s tyrant of a father has been an even-worse tyrant for 2 and a half years. He got diagnosed with ALS within a couple weeks of The Nephew’s birth, that’s how I keep track of the time. Before the diagnosis, SiL’s Mom had offered to “come visit you guys for a few months, like 6 or 9, to help with the baby” and SiL’s reaction had been “what does she want to do, kill my marriage?” Instead, both parents moved in within two months of the baby’s birth and there has been an endless rosary of relatives coming by, including folks SiL hadn’t seen since her own baptism. They have to recite the alphabet for him to nod when they get to the right letter and he insists in using complete sentences (darnit man, if someone can skip the articles it’s you). The Nephew once slapped him (the hand, which was what Nephew could reach) because TN had been trying to get someone to set him potty and the grandfather wasn’t letting them pay attention to him. Everybody keeps saying “but his head is still so clear!” but I ask you, what man “with a clear head” gets jealous of his 2yo grandkid? That kid has missed on a lot of childhood “benefits” because everybody is supposed to stare at his grandfather’s nose. The only pieces of his that are not linked to a machine are the brain and the heart. Sometimes I hate modern medicine.

When Dad was dying (took him 3 years, in theory he got healed twice, but his genes simply had reached their expiration date), I went through things like get home from work at 7am and get kicked out of bed at 9am to go get the item he wanted for breakfast :smack: My parents got angry when my brother announced he was getting married, “can’t you wait?” No, they couldn’t! They’d been dating and keeping it in their pants for seven years! “you’re too young!” Older than you two were…
Ahem.

Sorry, I got a bone to pick there. Excuse me while I get off the soapbox.

In other news, I got the flu. It’s not transmisible via internet, I’m told.
