A Lake Effect MMP

If it makes you feel better, I’m much more of a Bostonian than I am an NY(S)-er! Hopefully I’ll make it back to Boston someday for more than a 2-3 day visit. I love that city!

Seconded… or tenthed. Never too many times it can be said how important what you do is, and how proud you should be of yourself for doing it.

Oh, yeah!
ETA: Spaz, you think so too? Looks like we have a quorum – this is officially the kick-ass line of the week!

**McUNE **–

You’re being naughty. I like the way you think.

Rapunzel – You’re probably right about those flakes being from here – they still have them, and I don’t think I’ve seen them anyplace else (where I’ve been, of course) – about 3" long in a clear plastic wrapper? Called “Mekupelet” (literally, “folded”) in Hebrew. Ah… here’s one!

Ooh, Flake bars are great, too.

Yes!!! They have a version at our local Judaica store, made by Elite I think, that’s not as good. Man, those were good. The just collapsed in your mouth and melted a bit… yum.

I gotta keep track of two nicknames  ? Must engage brain power.

Innocent look Me? Naughty? Never. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes indeed, some folks here have multiple nicknames, Soapy/Rapunzel. Just to make sure you don’t get complacent.

Thus far today I have succeeded in doing…not very darn much. Threw a load of laundry in, and that’s about it. It’s quite lovely, just sitting here doing absolutely nothing, quite guilt-free!

You guys are giving me a chocolate craving. Or a Skor bar craving. :frowning: And I don’t want to go out (except to check the mail), it’s too darned cold! Not fair! :frowning:

I reread my tale, and I shocked myself with all of the errors I made. I think a lot faster than I type, and it shows.

MomTigs, the last I knew, the cops knew who the arsonist was, and based on the description we gave of the redneck doper, knew that guy, too. Three different deputies said that if he said he gave the other guy the fireworks that started Acorn Hill, he was really there himself and up to his eyeballs in it. I’m expecting to be called to ID the doper sometime soon. Horsewhipping in the town square would be a good start for any of these clods.

I also took some pics of the smoke plume from Acorn Hill with my spiffy new phone. I’ll post them tonight.

I love shocking Baptists, but then again, they’re such easy targets.

If you want to shock a Baptist, just speak to them in the liquor store!

Since (AFAIK) it’s always been produced by Elite (and always been the same), I think this is a case of nostalgia not being what it used to be…

What am I going to say, then? I must have 5 or 6 nicknames floating around… :dubious: You’ll get used to it.

I didn’t realize that Western NY included Syracuse–I’ve been there (sister’s graduation). I’ve also been to Niagra: as a kid, the American side; as an adult, the Canuck side. The Canadian side is filled with Gatlinburg type crap-casinos and Applebee’s etc. I find that odd, and expected more from the Canadians (usually it’s the Americans who do the tacky stuff).
Anyway, I just realized I have class today. Boo, hiss. I went to the store and unloaded and put everything away. I now have chocolate chip muffins in the oven, just to warm up the house (and me). I am FREEZING, which tells me I have PMS. I am always cold right before my period.

What? Did I share too much? :stuck_out_tongue:

IvoryTowerPerson–I have 2 more nicks for you: Rapunzel and 99 [sup]44/100ths[/sup]. Anyone guess the source for the last one? (come on, it’s easy!)

I ain’t that pure…
Sorry-excuse, um I mean Syracuse, isn’t really Western New York, but we all look the same to the folks down by NYC.

Nooner you’re bursting my bubble. Please stop. Everything was as good as I remember it.

“Ivory Soap – 99 and [sup]44/100ths[/sup] pure.” C’mon, even this furriner knows that one! :stuck_out_tongue:

ETA 1: Aw, don’t be shy… tell us how you are impure!

ETA 2: first on 2. Wasn’t even trying. Guess I have **Rapunzel **to thank for that! ::kisses her long golden hair::

See? I didn’t think so, but then someone upthread brought up Syracuse and I thought–well, what the hey! Anyhoo, it’s fargging cold up there as well.

Off to read my romance novels (it’s homework, folks) and then class. I am slightly warmer–afterall, it IS 9 degrees, Fahrenheit.

BBBobbio once again thanks for what you do. In your “spare time” yet. Glad the VunderLair is ok. Arsonists should be set on fire in the town square.

Puggy let’s hope this swamp fire is controlled soon. Last year was just ick. It stayed smokey for days and days on end around here. A controlled fire gettin’ out of control is not a smart thing, now is it?

Howdy Y’all! I snuck out of work for a bit. Gotta get back soon, though.

Later!

Dang, Bobbio, that sounds like some fire! I’m glad you and yours are ok. I’ll echo the sentiment of Thanks! for the hard work you do. Did VunderWife act understanding and appreciative, even a little, this time? I hope so.

Yes, she was much more forgiving this time.

What class assigns romance novels as homework? Did I take the wrong Lit. classes?

Yes, you did. You took English Lit, not Library Science. We must read what our patrons read (for the record, I’m not much of a romance fan, but it beats Joyce or Faulkner, ANY day!). I HAVE to read one Nora Roberts (whom I’ve never read), a Jennifer Crusie (whom I like) and a Susan Elizabeth Phillips, whomever she is. Then I have to read the reviews by certain library journals and compare and contrast them to my “take” on the books. So, it’s not all kittens and rainbows, nosirree–there’s at least 3 hours of moderate work to be done, once the reading is finished.

<mops brow>

Back at it.

I hear ya, sister - even tho purple is one of my best colors, … on my hands - not so much.
Home early - not feeling that great - off to sleep - will catch up later

Ahhh! My school was very small and didn’t offer Library Science classes, but it’s always been something that I’ve been interested in. I love spending time in libraries and loved working in the library in college.

I actually do like a lot of Nora Roberts’ stuff, though her recent series’ have gotten so crazy that I won’t read them anymore. She also writes murder mysteries under the guise of J.D. Robb if that is more up your alley. (I haven’t read any yet.) I like Jennifer Cruise too. In fact I just picked up Agnes and the Hitman from the Boston Public Library. I’ve never heard of Susan Elizabeth Phillips either.

Faulkner did me in too. But, I read a lot of great stuff in Lit classes. I made sure to non-traditional Lit classes. So, I had Children’s Lit, Women’s Lit, Lit of the Harlem Renaissance and some others.

The arsonist story reminded me - someone set fire to one of the three remaining gates in Seoul yesterday and it was destroyed. Seriously - why? The gate wasn’t a symbol of anything other than our history. It’s a mercy no one was hurt, but that gate can never be replaced. My ancestors must be spinning in their graves.

Thanks for the compliments, everyone. Personally I like the Chinese and Japanese traditional costumes better, although Koreans tend to think of both as too revealing (there’s a Korean urban legend that the sheer volume of cloth that goes into a kimono is so she can have sex with anyone, anywhere).

I was so hungry I devoured a bag of potato chips and now I feel ill. I need to start eating more healthily.
