A letter to my friends back at the shelter (from Boo Scarie the cat)

Hi Guys!!!

One of the people here said I could write to you guys, but my paws are no good on the letter thingee, so he has to write it.

First off, the people here changed my name. They call me Bear now. The girl-people call me Lovey, because I sit on their laps a lot.

Do you guys miss me? Any new kids there? I miss it there sometimes, but I have to say this is WAY better - mostly I miss some of you. (Even Smoky).

So the day that they came in and that guy that was holding me the whole time they were here? That’s the main person in the house, he’s writing this now. They put me in a cage in the car and we stopped at some place where they got people food that made the car smell like meat, but I didn’t get to eat any.

We came to their house, and geez, is it BIG! Remember the room we were all in? That’s the same size as just one of the rooms in this place and they have a lot of rooms. And stairs that me and my buddy Cuervo run up and down all the time.

They have three other cats here - older ones, and when I got here, ALL they did was hiss at me and the really mean, fat girl kept swatting at me. It took just a little while but now I think she likes me. She still hisses and swats, but it seems like she’s playing, and that’s just how she knows to play.

There’s an old man cat, he’s really cool, but doesn’t like to play with me.

My best friend is Cuervo though. We run, we chase, we tackle, we play King of the Castle, or chair or just whatever one of is standing on top of at the time. I think the people expected me to be scared or something because the cats were mean at first, but this was only three cats I think they didn’t remember that I came from a place with pretty much 50 brothers/sisters/uncles and aunts. Three is nothing when you come from the shelter.

Shelter cats rule!!!

There is always food here, and water, and an upstairs and downstairs sandboxes.

You know how our room has that one little window and we all took turns standing in the ledge? This whole place is like one big window, and there birds everywhere. Cuervo is funny, he scratches at the window like he’s going to get out. He says “someday…” but really.

My people are really cool about one thing though, everytime one of their friends comes by and I make them pet me, and they tell my people how nice I am, the people tell their friends to go and get one of you guys and take you home.

I guess I better go, Cuervo and I have to entertain these people right before they go to bed, then get some rest and then wake them up later tonight. It’s fun, they move things under their blanket and I pounce. They must like it, because they wake up and yell my name really loud. When I do that, they even use my extra name. I wonder what “little fucker” means?

Ok, later guys!!!

PS: The guy says here says you can see pictures of us all here.

Awwwwww, Mr. Bus Guy and Bear, that is so sweet! What beautiful cats! --And how fortunate you all are to have found each other!!

Long and happy lives to all of you; and to all of us and our kittehs too.

A kitty house is a happy house. What a great correspondent Boo Bear is. Please have him write some more.

Aww.

I just saw the cat pix - squee! Which one is Bear?

My cats say hi - from a distance, as they are no longer allowed in my room due to the Princess’ recently discovered allergy to cat dander. Sis will be taking them with her when she moves to her new place in a couple of weeks. The Princess just asked me this morning, “Mom, when my allergies are done, can we get a new kitty?” :frowning:

The first one you see, the grey striped one eating on the outside porch is Erica. We put her to sleep almost 3 years ago when she was 20.

Marty is the grey/black tiger striped male.
Scarlett is the solid pewter colored one. She’s the evil fat one.
Cuervo is the orange one.
Bear is in the ones only at the very end - the black Maine Coon mix, with the tail longer than his body.

Cuervo got a bu-ddy, Cuervo got a bu-ddy! happydances

Ahem. Back to being serious…

Aw the picture of Cuervos peering down looks like my Wally . Congrats to the newest kitty addition.

After looking at Wally, I then saw Gangstah Baby (AWWWWW!) and then- apparently GB got Raptured because there were her clothes left behind!

Awww. Cats.
:: silly smile ::

I want a cat now. You guys are evil.

Good lord, MBG, ya think you have enough kitties yet?

Teehee  That’s my adorable granddaughter modeling an outfit I made for her. Obviously the flat aka raptured clothing picture was taken first.

Actually, four is easier than three was. When it was Cuervo - who’s 2, Marty, who’s 14, and Scarlett who is mean and hates every cat that’s not her - there was a kind of semi-truce. But poor Cuervo had no one to play with and was always pestering one of the others. Marty would humor him a while, then get tired and Scarlett wanted to eat him.

So, along comes Bear, and after a brief acclimation, Cuervo and Bear discovered they both liked tearing around the house, knocking things over and cat stuff like that. Now they both leave the older two alone, and there’s a lot more cat-peace in the casa.
