The obligatory new Kitty thread, yes - with pictures!!!!

Many of you know, or recall the story of Cuervo the abandoned kitten I rescued about 2 1/2 years back. We bought him into a house with two older cats, expecting him to raise a little hell. Which he’s done admirably.

Lately though, I’ve noticed he plays a lot by himself, with the two older farts barely tolerating him. I thought, while he’s young enough, let’s get him a playmate. Years back, we had a Maine Coon, and I’ve wanted another. I searched online for some local shelters and found one fairly close by that had several Maine Coon kittens.

Today, I came home with this little guy. They called him Boo Scarie at the shelter, THAT will be changed almost immediately. He might be Stevie (Wonder), he might be Payton (we’re Bears fans), he might be Devon (ditto), he might even be Binx (from the movie Hocus Pocus).

He has an amazing tail.

He’s also making himself right at home.

The shelter we got him at was an amazing place, hidden in an industrial park in Seneca, IL. The cat room had about 50 cats walking around, some in cages, some not. Every litter box was clean, the cats all looked happy and they’re all very socialized. He DOES still smell like 50 other cats, so at the moment, we have 3 seriously pissed off adult cats. Today is the first time I’ve ever heard Cuervo
pissed off enough to hiss.

At the moment, he has complete run of the house, but only because I think the other three are plotting his demise.

More pics later, providing he sits still long enough to pose.

Hooray! He’s soooo cute!!!

I’m jealous now. I want a kitty too.

He’s adorable! And since he’s a Maine Coon, I am now convinced my Sugar Magnolia is at least part Maine Coon. I guess someone knew of the feral colony and threw her out, because that’s where I got her. She wasn’t feral - she let me walk up to her and pick her up. I thought she might be a kitten of the cat in the trap I was tending, but that cat was male. But I digress. Sugar Maggie also has a magnificent plume of a tail - it seems to be longer than she is - and has quite a nice neck ruff for a female. I’ll try to get some pictures of her tail.

Wish me luck with that.

Hope the handsome Quervo calms down and accepts his new playmate soon.

Aw, what a beauty!

Nitpick re. the name “Devon” – I take it you’re referring to Devin Hester? That’s an auspicious pick, and it comes ready with several nicknames – Anytime, Windy City Flyer,
Soulja Boy, Ballin’ Boy [presumably, though, he’s going to get neutered, right?]…

New kitteh! Congrats. Headbutts to the nameless one.

He is gorgeous. I have a weakness for cats with black medium long fur. Try to resist using him as a feather duster.

I loosened up Cuervo and Marty a bit. Catnip got them wasted and they’re a bit calmer now.

I new possible name: Bear

I imagine Swampy is going to vote for that one…

OMG, he’s beautiful, MBG!!! I’m soooo jealous; Maine Coons are great kitties.

My name vote goes for Payton (Yay!) or Bear.

Me, too! Especially the glossy kind, like the new kitteh has.

Excellent pick, MBG!

Well, he does like gettin’ wasted on his favorite intoxicant and he is sorta bearish, thus, having those two things in common with yours truly…

Seriously, I’m not the world’s biggest fan of cats (don’t hate 'em mind you) but Bear (never too late to campaign!) and Cuervo are two handsome kitties!

If’n I were ever to get a cat I’d get a Maine Coon cause they kinda act like dogs in that they seem to be more “doglike” in their affection. Leastwise every Maine Coon I’ve known has been that way.

The shelter people told us he was a ‘people cat’ and liked to sit on laps. Boy, they undersold that. He has yet to nap, eat, drink or pee in 4 1/2 hours. We are nothing but walking jungle gyms for him.

I gave him a quick warm bath to get the shelter smell off him, that seems to help the others. They’ll approach him and I think they expect to intimidate him. But he comes from that big room full o’cats so he’s not easily put off by anything they do.

Gorgeous kitteh, MBG!! And yay for rescues! Here’s hoping the noob and Cuervo become bestest buds.
I want a new kitteh now. <pout>

He’s a cutie! He looks a lot like our Dutchess, but with a fluffier coat. I’m sure Cuervo and the others will acclimate to him eventually – once the initial “What is that thing doing in my territory?” thing wears off. Hey, you now have the same sort of menagerie we have!

He will always be BooBoo to me. (BooBear?)
He is gorgeous. Congrats! And Cuervo now knows how it feels…

OMGZ!! SQUEEEEKITTTYYY!!11!!

Ahem.

That is a handsome critter, and he’s a dark evil twin of my MC cross Pratchett. It’s amazing how similar their builds are, and those ridiculously extravagant tails! How old is the new kitteh? He definitely looks like a Bear…

Be prepared for him to get really big and act like a dog. As a matter of fact, Pratchett is learning how to walk on his retractable leash and is doing very well at it–for a cat!

Heh, years ago I actually had a cat that we named Boo-Boo Kitty. He was beautiful.

Beautiful cat MBG. I don’t think we’ll ever get another cat. We’ve had three now, and I’ve got be frank, I don’t miss the whole litter box cleaning thing.

Oi! What’s wrong with the name Boo?

I love Maine Coons. They are so beautiful, and so big!

Awright, mine is a Bugaboo.

We have what is probably a maine coon mix. She is a petite thing and pretty much holds all of us in complete distain ( unless she needs food.) If Lilly isn’t plotting killing all of us she is sleeping atop our pillows messing with our hair or the infidel hands that creep up from under the pillow.

We also shave her because it’s fun to say, " I shaved my pussy today."

Congrats on the new kitty!

great photo! that little bit of darkish fur over the side of his lip makes it look like he’s sneering.
eta: oh yeah and YAY For new Bus Kitteh!!! I think Bear is a great name for a kitteh
