I could work today. There’s some non-critical stuff I could do. I could have worked a lot more last week, too, but I just got the critical stuff done and couldn’t bring myself to keep going on the other stuff. The beginning of December was crazy busy and I just needed a break.
I have about 4 more hours of work that has to be done before January 2. I’m guessing that I’ll have the same problem later this week. I’ll get the critical stuff done, and not do the other stuff.
All fine and good, but I’m paid by the hour, so this paycheck is going to be pretty damn small.
Yeah, this is when the hourly pay sucks a little. My husband is upstairs sleeping because his company decided to close up today (he’s still getting paid, though). His company got a little wankerish for later this week, though, for Thursday and Friday - they strongly recommended that everyone take those two other days off to have a full week off, but they needed to burn vacation days to do so. Jim’s going to go in - he’ll probably play Minesweeper most of the day.
I will work today, and then again tomorrow. In fact, tomorrow I am going in three hours early, and will probably be an hour or so late leaving. No pity, I do it because I want to.
So, Merry Christmass everyone, at work, or at home, or wherever you are.
I work a 12-hour shift as usual tonight. I’ll get off work sometime after 7 a.m. Christmas morning.
I’m a nurse in a hospital. Lucky me.
They tried to get me to come in last night to help out, and I just looked at the schedule: there are fewer nurses scheduled for the unit than there were last night. So it should be just a really fantastic night.
MrWhatsit is working today, as he does every Christmas Eve, delivering last-minute Christmas cards and packages to people all across our fair city. At least this year he managed to avoid getting tagged with delivering express mail on Christmas Day.
Well, that was a heck of a day. It was supposed to be slow and easy; instead, I think everyone is trying to pay up their account before the end of the year (I’m working in payment processing). Yikes!
