In the same vein as the Any other Americans at work today? thread for Thanksgiving, I’m wondering who else besides me is working this week.
On the up side, I no longer have to work overtime every day, and I do get the 25th off. And I’ll be getting paid to not work. The whole concept of paid holidays is still new and exciting to me.
Anybody else?
I do get the 25th off. I’m getting overtime (basically because I’ve already worked more than 80 hours). It’s the end of the year for us, so I’ve got a stack of invoices that need to be entered.
On the plus side, SDMB, has no objections for me being at work and posting
Oddly, I haven’t the faintest idea when my building is closed this week. I know I have off on Wednesday, but that’s it. Going to call the main departmental office and confirm now, heh.
I have Wednesday off, but plan to not come back after my noon appointment tomorrow until Thursday morning. The wife is working the same days, so we’ve got THAT going for us.
In the office today and half a day tomorrow. Returning on the 2nd. This will be the least amount of leave I’ve taken at this time of year. I’m hoarding my days off so I can make more trips north to see my sweetie…
My father is an emergency room doctor, and you can’t just shut down an emergency room simply because it’s Christmas week. However, my brother’s birthday is Christmas Eve so he managed to get that one off, and some of the docs with less family often agree to work Christmas day so that other docs can spend it with their families. In order to get these two days off, however, my father had to work Thanksgiving and will be working New Year’s.

I’m curious, monica . . . how does your brother feel about having a birthday so close to Christmas (which is evidently a holiday celebrated by your family)? I have a friend whose birthday is TODAY, and it’s pretty much sucked for her. So much so, in fact, that when she and her husband were trying to conceive a child, they deliberately stopped trying for a couple of months in order to AVOID having a “Christmas baby”, because she didn’t want her kid to have to go through what she went through.
I’m working from home today (sorta), I took Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday off, and I’ll be in the office on Thursday. All time off comes from the PTO bank (even Xmas day) since I work at a hospital.
