Anybody working this week?

I’m here, but I ain’t working.

We’re closing at noon on Tuesday, and off until the 30th.

I had requested vacation time for this week and next, but even with 26 years seniority (!) all I was able to get off was next week Monday and Tuseday. Since I’m on a 4/40 work schedule, I’m working all day today, half-day tomorrow, off Wednesday, work all day Thursday, off Friday to Wednesday, then working Thursday (1/2/03) and off Friday to Sunday.

Wednesday off. This is retail goldmine week and if I’m lucky all of my staff will actually show up tomorrow (I’m bribing them with lots of food throughout the day).

Happy Holidays!

I, too, only get Wednesday off.

At least it’s slow. . .

Tripler
Maybe slow is more a curse than a blessing. . .

X-mas day off, thats it.

I work from 7 AM to 2 PM on Christmas Eve and I get Christmas Day off.

:::hanging on 'til the new year when I get five days in a row off:::

EverCrack, here I come!

Working the midnight shift all week.

I get Wednesday off but get paid for it. Oh joy!

Due to a weird twist of schedule fate, I also have Thursday off.

I gave my two employees and the salesman the week off, but one of them volunteered to work with me tommorrow and Thursday since I only planned to work a half-day both of those days. He doesn’t know it but I’m going to pay him double time. I have to get the inventory done, or else, otherwise I’d just close the place.

I’m off Wednesday, but Thursday and Friday I’ll be taking down and scanning for return about a million Xmas cards, books & party goods and putting up about a million Valentines day cards, books and party goods. If I still worked for a movie theater, I wouldn’t even have Wednesday off!

Most of us have Wednesday off, but I have one of the on-call pagers this month, so who knows? TV News is a 24x7 business and I’m frankly sick of it (especially since the pager went off at 4:38 AM today after I went to bed at midnight…)

I work retail. I have tomorrow off, completely by accident - most everyone else has to work, even though they’re closing the store two hours early and doing a rush job to get out immediately after lockup. I was asked to work, but stuck to my guns and refused, citing prior plans (to relax!).

I worked today, and it was hectic - I’d hate to work tomorrow. I’ll have to work for the rest of the week starting Thursday, though.

My mother is only working today and next Monday (she’s a food supervisor for the kitchen / dietary staff), but if there’s an emergency or something, she’ll work. Dad “took early retirement” a couple months ago. (meaning that he didn’t want to retire, but was forced into it)

F_X

I got you guys beat. I’m working today, all through the week and into the new year without a break. It’s a little bit expensive to shut an oil rig down.

I’m working as Christmas help in the curtain department of a linens-and-such store in a shopping mall. I worked Monday and will work Friday and possibly Saturday. The mall is closed Wednesday and Thursday, and open only until 1 pm on Tuesday - this is normal here in the land of the trolls.

I have Christmas Eve because my boss, bless her, decreed that “you would have to be insane to brave the Xmas Eve crowds just to get curtain fabric” and gave the whole department off.

I’m working Tuesday, get Wed. and Thurs. off due to company closed, then have to work Friday. Which is pissing me off, because I would have been able to get it off if they hadn’t moved me to the indentured servant department (AKA Accounting). Hey, don’t you Murkins get Boxing Day off on the 26th?

Same for me (a coworker of Tap’s), 6 - 6 days till the first.

Nope, because we don’t have Boxing day!

You know, I’m very glad that I am employed, and the whole idea of trading my time for money is one that I fully support, but I think it’s kind of sad that the main reason I’m looking forward to Christmas this year is because I’ll have the day off from work.

I’m working on my thesis, the job that never ends. I’m at home and making my own hours, but guilt takes no days off. The library and sundry other campus facilities are shut down until after the new year, so I get to use lack of access to materials as an excuse for not working as hard as possible.
