swampus, we already knew you’s a weirdo… this just clinches it.
Home at last… got some chicken thighs marinating in a peanut satay sauce, which I’ll serve up on some plain rice with a cucumber salad on the side. Now it’s just a matter of waiting for The Boy to call and let me know his meeting is done. He’s just at the college around the corner, so it’s not far to get home afterwards, but I’m staaaaaaaaaarving… I’m going to give him another 15 minutes, and then after that he’s on his own (hey, he did say they’d be done by 7pm, which means he’s already overdue).
BURN THE HERETIC!!!

mmmmmmmmmmm - tuna steaks were yummerrific. So was the saffron rice with mixed veggies. Good supper.
**swampy **- if you send me all your unwanted lobsters, I’ll be your friend forever!!
And I knitted yet another dishcloth. I’m going to have a dishcloth corner in my next craft booth.
Well, beddy-bye time for me. Still not Firday…
Thought I’d posted earlier, but…??? I guess I just read and then…oooooh…shiny.
Forgot to say I was sorry about your Mom stressing out, Muppet. I can understand her feelings, but…I’m sure it’s hard for you to deal with. Hope things smooth out some.
I’ll have some of your unwanted lobster as well, swampy.
Hope the itchies are due to something else, BooFae. (I love raspberries and strawberries, too. Glad I don’t seem to be allergic to them.)
Tired tonight. Skipped working in the garden because I was really sleepy. Didn’t actually sleep, but vegged a bit.
I had Irish quesadillas for dinner. OK…there wasn’t anything Irish about them, but it’s St. Paddy’s day, so they’re honorary Irish food. Right?
I’m thinking I’ll call it an early evening. Just a bit more knitting and then off to beddie bye…

The Bar Harbor-Yarmouth NS route has a high speed catamaran. Apparently, so does the Portland service now. When I did it, it was a little cruise ship sort of thing. It took all night. Much fun.
My itchies are still itchy today, I’ve been drinking loads of water to try and flush out whatever’s offending my skin but today, having rosacea truly sucks. Yesterday in desperation, I had a search around on t’interwebs and found a company that makes specially-prepared creams and stuff for rosacea sufferers and I’ve ordered a sample pack from them. At the moment I’m using E45 lotion to try and keep my skin from cracking, but every time I put it on, it burns.
Fat Club was not unkind to me last night, haven’t lost any weight but I’ve stayed the same now for five weeks so at least it’s not going up. Silver lining, huh?
grabs swampy’s portion of the lobster
Tomorrow is St Joseph’s, which in Spain is Father’s Day. So if I don’t remember to come by tomorrow,
***Happy Father’s Day
to all of you male Mumpers who’ve generated sprog. I’s so sensitive and such a delicate flower, is I.
There’s no place I’d rather vacation than mid-coast Maine. As much as I loved Paris and Vienna and the Scandanavian fjords, I feel more comfortable in my own skin when I’m sitting on top of Mt. Battie behind the village of Camden, and watching the tall ships out on Penobscot Bay. It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but it feels like home to me.
September and early October are best. Fresh hot cider each morning at the Camden Deli. Time spent writing in the harbor park. A break for maple walnut fudge from The Smiling Cow. A drive with Zeldar to continue our search for the best chowder. More bookstores, a music shop. Old scrimshaw. A Wyeth exhibit! Three generations! Can you believe this?
And then a few more miles and we’re inside the Olsen house from the painting Christina’s World and our tour guide is Andrew Wyeth’s brother-in-law…Is this a dream?
Then back to the top of Mt. Battie. I see what Edna St. Vincent Millay saw as a young woman from that same vantage point. That poem made her future. “All I could see from where I stood…”
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s my Thursday! YAY!!!
I know, I know! I will eat pretty much all seafood. Except for the one thing that is supposed to be the ultimate seafood. I hear about how weird that is all the time.
YAWN Need more caffiene. And brekkies. And work purtification.
Later Y’all!
I’m going to have to think long and hard on this one…
Morning. My boy got his top braces on yesterday and boy is he uncomfortable. He barely ate except for the milkshakes I made him. He’s a tough kid too, so he must really be hurting.
Between the concerta and the achy teeth he’s going to waste away!
Hey y’all, it’s been a busy week. More later.
::looks at Swampy’s spoiler. Faints dead away.::
I luuurrve lobster. I call dibs on all of Swampy’s lobster.
Mr Rebo and I went and enjoyed St Patty’s Day last night. I’m not hurting too bad… I am hurting from all the gardening. That can be a workout, lemme tell ya! Ow, my poor butt muscles…
We didn’t quite get finished. I still have to plant the marigolds in the Tree Bed. We finally gave names to the various planting beds. We have the Tree Bed, the Curved Bed, the Bush Bed, and The Whiskey Barrel. That’s just the front yard. I planted two varieties of celosia and a bunch of snapdragons. I weeded the Bush Bed, and Mr Rebo cleaned out the Curved Bed for me to plant. We added six large bags of soil to it, since we have such icky clay soil here. I still need more flowers for the Whiskey Barrel - I think I’ll put in Periwinkles since they seem so hardy and prolific. I can’t find any, though! (At the two places we went to.)
It’s my last day of my time off. It’s been very nice! Nice weather since Monday, that’s for sure. It got up into the 80s yesterday.
Have happy Hump Day, everyone!
I have been to Maine many times when I was a kid. I had a grandmother and grandfather that lived in Standish. My aunt and uncle also owned a camp on Long Pond near Augusta for about 20 years and eventually moved into a permanent house nearby. Last time I was up there was about 15 years ago when my grandfather died.
I have fond memories of going to the camp. My brother and I would get up early in the morning and take the canoe out to go fishing. Never cuaght any giants but there were always plenty of sunnies and small largemouths willing to take the bait. Later in the afternoon we might go for a short swim or take the motorboat out for a ride. One cool thing there was Day’s General Store in Belgrade Lakes. There was a dock in the back, so we could take the boat to pick up some of the half-price “Day’s Day Old Doughnuts” for breakfast the next morning and some other essentials.
My grandparents lived in a trailer park in Standish. Things were crowded when we were there, but we always had a good time anyway. One highlight of going up there was a nearby park that was adjacent to a river. The riverbed was just about solid rock and had been worn smooth. There was one section where there was somewhat of a chute and you could sit your butt down and be pushed along by the water for a couple hundred feet. The water was cold but we had a blast.
There was one trip to the ocean that I just barely remember. It was August and pretty toasty out for Maine. We got to the beach and there was nobody in the water! My parents just couldn’t understand it. Then they put one toe in the water and realized why.
I would like to go back some day for sentimental reasons, but I don’t know when that will ever happen.
Rebo, I loooooove celosia (and snapdragons too, but those I just love without all the extra o’s in the middle).
BooFae, yay on holding steady. I know it’s discouraging to hit a plateau, but it’s still better than gaining, right? Hope your itchies go away soon-like.
Soapy, I feel for the poor kid. The only saving grace to having braces for three years was the fact that I could eat nothing but mashed potatoes and ice cream for a couple of days each month, and no one could say anything about it being unhealthy. My teeth are aching just from the memory… owowowowowowow.
It’s vewwy vewwy quiet at the office today. I think everyone is still recovering from yesterday’s festivities or something. Which is fine by me, because it’s grey and yucky outside, and I don’t feel particularly sociable.
Morning Mumpers! I’m up, caffeinating, and eating a chili, cheese and salsa omelet. there’s hockey tonight. Wooo!
It’s bright and sunny here, Muppet. I can email you some.
Congrats on maintaining, BooFae! I hope you can find what’s causing the itching.
Hope the kid feels better soon, soapy!
We have our new teammate at work today. Yay for some help! He’s really really shy but if he does good work, that’s just fine.
KT grilled up some lamb kabobs for dinner last night. They were teh YUM.
Tonight we’re going to the orchestra which should be fun. Now if I just weren’t feeling sleepy, I’d be all set.
Doppleganger co-worker and I bought tickets for our trip to Greece this April. So psyched!
In other news . . . I’ve been kind of floating from place to place for the past few months - in the winter I was rooming with a co-worker I like to call Miss JustOneMoreGlassofWinebecause that’s how she always managed to get me drunk :smack: and then for a couple weeks I was back with my parents. Now I’m living in a co-worker’s apartment while he’s taking a term break, but he gets back in a month or so.
Miss OneMoreGlass said I could stay with her again until this summer (I haven’t gotten my own place yet because various factors make it more practical for me to wait until September and I only need somewhere to stay until July since I’ll be in England for the rest of the summer) but Mr Irishman suddenly asked me yesterday if I wanted to move in with him for those two months.
He pointed out it’d be more practical since I’m always over there anyway and it’s only a temporary arrangement so there’s less pressure on either of us. All true, but I can’t help wondering if we’re asking for trouble. We’ve only been dating for a couple months, and while both of us are fairly laidback, it’s always hard to predict what it’s like to actually LIVE with someone, you know? On the other hand, it IS much more practical for both of us, and I suppose if we are incompatible we might as well learn it sooner rather than later. I dunno.
My battle with Financial Aid was successful! Now I can get the eff done and graduate and then pay back the horrifying amount of loans I had to take out.
I’ve never had lobster, so I don’t know whether or not I should be horrified at swampy’s revelation.
Haze, moving in with Mr. Irish may be more practical but my “Too Soon for That” hackles are rising.
Firefox wants to update and restart, so rosie’s sig for now.
Well, I got a call from the docs office yesterday afternoon (you may recall I had blood work done on Monday morning) and they wanted me to come right in. Turns out my TSH levels are off the chart. Average is between .04 and 4.5. Mine is 52.8. IOW, my thyroid isn’t functioning at ALL. Doc put me on synthroid which hopefully will fix me right up. No wonder I wasn’t feeling too good.
haze, if you have any doubts, don’t do it. But it is nice that he wants you to.
Good going, spaz!
Staff meeting. Later, y’all!
Tupug
Hello, all. Tired. Forgot to say congrats, taxi!
Going to eat lunch. Everything cross fingers that Nat sleeps for several hours, okay?
Muppet, would Sunday or Friday be better for you? Either would be fine for us, but if you’re working in the middle of nowhere, Sunday might be less hellish for transport.
I also hate lobster. You can have mine.
