Go-Go Vacation! - A MMP

It’s 00:16 EST, I’m on vacation, and I’m having a beer. Woo!
Talk amongst yourself till I come to later in the morning.

< obigatory dunken psot >

First!

Go-go you!!

Second! Just because.

may the beers be many!

Morning, mumpers! It’s 18c/64f with a predicted high of 20c/67f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “You may feel like walking around your yard naked. Your elderly neighbour, however, fucking wishes you wouldn’t”. Sage advice, I think.

Enjoy the vacation, doggio, sounds like you are well overdue for some time away from your own personal Hades. Having a beer is obligatory, as is the drunken post later!

Irk for me today, and it is already irksome. Someone’s been asking about visa letters for students going to foreign institutions for their year abroad. Estonia has now decided to ask for some very specific things that are making life difficult already.

Bloody Russians!

I didn’t fall asleep till after midnight, but I was wide awake before 6. My internal clock hates me!!!

Speaking of vacation, FCD has decided that next year, we’re going to take the boat to Maine for a month. I pointed out that such an adventure costs $$$ that we don’t have in excess at the moment. Then again, the MegaMillions jackpot is over $700M - that could make such a venture more affordable…

Looks like this week we’ll top out in the 80s, except for today, which should be low 90s. Still humid as all get-out, but that’s how it goes. Today, I’ll be wielding the pressure washer, de-crudding the fiberglass surfaces on the boat. Gotta be careful not to hit the teak deck - the pressure could damage it. We don’t need to be dealing with deck repairs.

Today is also Daughter’s first day back at school, learning to be Headmaster, or whatever the title is. The woman she’s replacing, her former boss, has been there 30 years - regardless of how it goes, it’s going to be an interesting year. And with luck, it’ll be a bit easier on me, not having the kids as long each day.

Other highlights of this week - Higgs is going to the groomer on Weds so she’ll be purty for our trek south (not a vacation, alas!) And, um, I need to do stuff to get ready for said trek. I’ll make a list - and this time I mean it!!! But first, I need caffeine.

Happy Moanday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 71 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 91 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. We had big rains come through last night that started right at bedtime. Made for some nice sleep weather. House cleaner comes today and that is the big item on the agenda. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time and nappage as well. Sup shall be sketties 'n meatballs cause we haven’t had that in a while, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

I’m retired so everyday is a vacation! However, enjoy your time off doggio.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

My cats do not seem to believe in letting the human sleep. You’d think CATS would be all about as much sleep as possible.

No major plans today.

they are as long as they’re the ones doing the sleeping, the servants on the other hand …

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 58 degrees with an expected high of 90.

doggio, enjoy the vacation! I know how stressful work has been.

I only have four working days this week and then my two-week vacation begins. I am so glad that it’s so close. This week will be stressful for a multitude of reasons, but I’m trying to keep my eye on that big light at the end of the tunnel.

I hope you all have a terrific day!

Good morning everyone, it’s ridiculously hot outside (DFW) and will rise to infuriatingly hot by the afternoon. The actual digits don’t matter anymore. I just want to go back to the mountains and sit in my jacket beside the campfire again (like last month).

Today is setting up Dr appts, getting cars inspected/licensed, and other boring chores.

Best wishes to the OP and others regarding vacations. May they be long and lazy.

We had a long planned RV-ing trip to celebrate my wife joining me in retirement. As one might expect, the travel gods amused themselves for months watching us budget for 7500 miles with ~3 dollar diesel. When we realized our fuel costs would double, we decided to go anyway. In the words of that great 20th century philosopher John Fogerty – “Someday never comes.”

I’m tempted to put that quote on the rear of our RV.

When I was young, and if you had a problem with your household (for example, a squeaky door, or not enough storage for your ceramic cow collection, or whatever) it would be days before you find someone to ask about it, weeks before you figure out the solution, months before you finally find what you need, and then there was a lot of assembly required. At the end of it all, it barely worked as well as you hoped.

Now you can think of a thing, look it up online, find solutions galore at wide ranges of prices and variations, order one, and get it delivered to your home, all within hours.

What a crazy world.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Plans today include shoveling the litter box, and taking the recycling and bagged dog doo out.

Well, since I’m not in charge it’s not too stressful. I mean management got me and WB gas gift cards as a token of appreciation and to say “Thank you for not burning the building down when we repeatedly dumped 10 carts of leakers and rewraps on you and left”.

Luckily the ceramic pieces from FCM do not take up much space.

Morning all. Like swampy I’m a retired gentleman of leisure, so vacations are whenever I say they are. I had been planning on going to Savannah/Charleston/Myrtle Beach for a week or so this month, but the plumbing issues took both the time and cash away from those plans, and youth soccer starts in a couple of weeks, so looks like that’ll be for another time.

Going to try the new breakfast/lunch place (Eggs Up) today, it’s right next to the Publix so I can do my sammich-n-shopping just fine. Swimmin’ is on the agenda too.

Big week’s project is getting someone in to put the tile back in my kitchen floor where they fixed one of the leaks. Only four tiles to replace and I have them and the grout on hand, so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Also need to mow the lawn before the week lest it becomes to long.

Bat boy, you have stated one of the things that has changed the world, the absolute ease of finding things in the digital age. Interesting times…

Yanker, heading for 94F today, can’t imagine how miserable it’ll be down in Big-D.

FCM, hope the cruise to the Northeast can be pulled off; sounds interesting.

Boo fae, the Estonians would be most insulted if they heard you referring to them as ‘bloody russians’…just saying…

doggio, enjoy the beer and the down time.

OK, need to do some re-arranging and internettin’ and then out of the house I go. All y’all have a good Moanday.

Happy Moonday!

Nice morning at the park, although a bit humid. A good crowd showed up.
Echo got into it with Natty Boh as we were leaving, fighting over a stick. Nothing serious though, a lot of noise, flashing of teeth. and slamming into each other.
No blood, so all good.
Ripple was good about going to daycare, he seemed happy about it.
I have boarding set up for Wed thru Fri, I don’t know how he will handle that.

We’ll be out suit shopping this morning, and washing the truck. I need the grass cut as well.
It’s supposed to rain, so we’ll see how it all goes.

Yesterday, my park friend posted a video of her husband using a log splitter.
He wasn’t too happy that it showed his plumber’s crack.

Happy Vacation Doggio
I’m jealous.

Thank you Boo

Cats care about their sleep Nettie, your sleep is irrelevant.

Time to get up, get a shower, and get out of here.

Mornin all. I’m taking a mental health day today. Is hot and I have a huuuge case of the donwannas.

Taking a break from pressure washing the boat. It’s a wet job, especially since it’s a bit breezy. FCD is installing the covers on the water tanks so I can chill a bit. Then maybe another hour and I’ll quit. I can’t clean under the dinghy or on the flybridge today because reasons.

My sweetie is trying to get the generator running. Then we may go for a dip. Or go home. Who knows??

There are jokes to be made about splits, but I won’t. I did get a laugh.

I suspect I’m joining you. I had IBS issues last night, followed by migraine today. I donwanna do nothing either.

Take care and have a Happy Monday everyone!

I’m glad you’re taking a mental health day, Paintcharge. I hope things look up for you soon.

I’m about to throw something at my husband. He keeps coming in to just look at me, forgets he’s standing there, then starts singing or humming under his breath until I give him the boot again. I gotta move my work space to a room with a door. Complaints aside, he’s a wonderful, wonderful man.

Anyway, I hope you have a great time on your vacation, doggio and that you enjoyed your beer! I’m off to stuff myself with leftover spanikopita & grilled chicken for lunch. The dinner & wine with the neighbors was successful and I’ve got phenomenal leftovers for lunch, if I do say so myself.

Home, exhausted. FCD got several things on the list done, and I got much of the boat cleaned - it really is white, not gray-ish! I cam home to an email from the lady from the rescue group and I had to tell her that the cats have gone. Now I need to contact animal control so they can get their trap back.

My short night has caught up with me - I’m really tired. I may assume the recline position and possibly doze.
