Spackling the Crack of Dawn- An Early MMP

Early to rise, and early to bed makes a man healthy, but socially dead - Yakko Warner

I’m up, caffeinated, and sheveled. And red will be shortly. Any other early birds here?

You sound like some of the bosses I’ve had.

Impressed I am, by your early and witty hour. Except I’m not an early bird, I’m a night owl~still up, if you would call my hyper-slouched position sprawled on my loveseat up.

But cheers! :wave:t3::clinking_glasses::champagne: to Mumpers birds and owls alike.

My sleep “pattern” has utterly randomized the last couple of weeks. Not helpful. I do HAVE to be awake until either DH’s pharmacy delivery (this delivey will include insulin, which needs to hit the fridge ASAP on arrival) gets here between 1200-1600 or until he gets home to deal with it himself, whichever comes first.

You got up before me, and I’m how many time zones ahead? I agree with Boo, it should still be last night.

Back to irk today. It’s all clouded over again, which I’m personally fine with. Can’t take too much sun.

Can I get some digits crossed for me on Firday? I have an interview which I am a little excited about…

I slept pretty well for a change - only woke once around midnight and made it almost all the way to 6 (It was 5:55 when I looked at the clock.) Now I’m enjoying my breakfast-and-surf solitude while spousal unit is abed.

Waking to 75° does not bode well for a cool and comfortable day. Poor guys delivering the pellets… I should get some water into the fridge to chill. I’m guessing these delivery guys aren’t likely to be fans of Diet Coke and I don’t keep the regular stuff around the house. So water it will be.

And it’s another day without anything planned. I’m hoping daughter’s car is finished this morning, else she’ll be taking my car when she goes to my mom’s this afternoon. Apart from that, I suppose I’ll push the vacuum around, and I do need to call the groomer that de-matted Ziva - she’s developed some major mats on her hips. I swear, if she’d just let me brush her out once in a while, this wouldn’t be an issue. Idiot feline… And so begins the last week of July.

PS: somebody moves farther into geezerdom in 3 days… just sayin…

Happy Moanday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 94 and N.O.S. for the day. Cleanin’ lady comes this mornin’ to give da cave a spiff. My intention is to loll about for the day. I do foresee some quality cee-mint pond time, however. I shall also plop a poke tenderloin in the slow cooker. That, peas 'n carrots, baked sweet N.O.T., and rolls shall comprise sup.

Nuts appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the interview.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should make myself presentable before the cleaner arrives.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Showered, dressed, and I’ve tightened up the loosened screws on several kitchen cabinet doors. And it’s not 8AM yet! Go me!

The elderly dog decided that 5:30 was time TO GET UP! So I shuffled down the stairs with him. I expect the sight of the two of us trying to get down stairs first thing in the morning would make some chiropractors smile and imagine many treatments.

It evidently wasn’t pee time, it was drink water time. Watered the dog, twice, then back to bed for a while. Now, up, sheveled, and off to deliver a piece to a client.

Happy moanday, all.

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday was quite busy what with Polar’s vet visit and grandchildren wrangling. Adam kept us extremely busy because that boy is into everything! And, of course, Zoe kept us on our toes to because we have to play with her too. Adam went down for a good nap around two, so Zoe got us to herself for a little slice of time. We played, had quiet time on Grandma’s bed, found some garden gnomes which she promptly named Garden and Welcome and took them home. We had to play with them like dolls of course, and she had to put them on the back of her trike and take them for a ride.

The kids got a nice break and got to go out on their first real date since Adam was born. Adam will be one year old at the end of September. They were grateful, and I think relieved that they could drop off both kids and catch a little break.

The vet visit for Polar was very expensive. He had labs, x-rays, an exam and nail clipping. They called me while to ask if they could sedate Polar because the exam was painful (manipulating the knees). Basically, the x-rays showed the cartilage is pretty much gone in the knee joints, so that explains things. Still don’t know why he’s not eating, maybe the labs will tell us. They sent him with tramadol and an appetite stimulant and we’ll see what the labs say. I’m not a huge fan of doping him up on tramadol all the time, but I don’t want him in pain either. I think I’m going to look into CBDs for him after talking to the vet.

The weather is supposed to be hot again and we’re not expecting any rain for a good while yet.

Well, it’s the first day of vacation. It’s raining. Again.

There’s somebody out there with a chainsaw, which means 1) they are getting wet and 2) they are trying to cut something which is already wet, since we got an inch of rain yesterday, the day before that, and the day before that.

Switzerland’s already at 1 billion CHF for storm damage this year, and doesn’t include yesterday’s deluge. We’re up on a hill, so we’re okay. Unfortunately a town nearby did not fair so well. Fortunately no one got injured, but I can’t imagine what it was like getting 1 inch of rain in 10 minutes.

Tomorrow we’re going to go somewhere and do something, but today is shopping (already done), baking (blueberry bread and carrot cake) and jam making (strawberry). So I should go do something, right?

We’re ready for winter!

The delivery was lots easier than in the past. They had a truck with a lift gate and a pallet jack, so they didn’t have to carry the bags in one at a time. Maybe 15 minutes today. Yay!! Plus one of the guys helped carry one of my old pallets to my truck - a trip to the dump is in my near future.

Glad this got done early. Now, who knows…? Time to break out the vacuum, I guess.

Happy Moonday!

It was 74 degrees when I headed out to the park, but the humidity is so high, it’s like a heat blast to the face. All of the dogs were fairly lazy, except Jax, who will chase a ball no matter how hot it gets.
Ripple is bleeding from his leg, no idea what happened to him. Nothing concerning though.

The appraiser is supposed to get here at 1030. I let McDs make breakfast, I’m not dirtying up the kitchen until the appraisal is done.
I still need to make my bed, a few swipes around the kitchen, and straighten the living room rug.
I’m supposed to open all the doors and turn all the lights on. I thought raising all the shades would be good, but it’s a bit gloomy out.
I’m not opening the basement and attic doors though. The basement door blocks the passage between the kitchen and living room, and I’m not about to air condition the attic.
My legs are sore today, I think I went up and down the stairs at least 20 times yesterday.

Once the appraiser goes, I’m going to call the car shop and reschedule for Wednesday. I have to call the daycare and find out how they do birthday parties. Echo turns 2 on daycare day. She’ll get a free bath (as my friend pointed out, she may not appreciate that gift), but I don’t know if they supply the cake and treats or if I am supposed to do it. Then I’m going to try again to get the employee discount set up for our phones.

After today, everything major that needs to be done will be done and I hope everything goes back to normal.

Since “sheveled” is not considered to be a word, I hereby declare “disheveled” to be no longer a word because you can’t be disheveled if you were never sheveled in the first place.

Morning all. Stayed awake late last night and was up before 7am, so nappage is a distinct possibility. Catching up on news, views and abuse (SDMB Pit threads) and need to do some shopping and banking later on this morning. 60% chance of rain the Weather Wizards are saying, but it’s clear outside now and heading for 90F.

Sari, hope things settle down as you wish. And a happy early birthday to Echo.

FCM, that’s a lot of pellets. On pallets.

Dicey, hope you can stay dry. Sounds like a bad time to be visiting Switzerland.

Taters, good on ya for taking the littles and letting the parents have some time alone. And hope the medicines help Polar.

Ok, need to clean both house and person before heading out on my sammich and shopping trip. Everyone have a good Moanday.

Is there any rational explanation for why Music Choice’s “Sounds of the Seasons” channel is playing CHRISTMAS music? They’ve labeled it as “Christmas in July”, but WHY are we doing this five months early?

Because there are insane people out there who apparently like that sort of thing. Hallmark Channel would run their sappy Christmas movies in July, too, according the way too many commercials. I don’t get it… Of course, my mother did just host a Christmas in July party last week, but it was just for family and just an excuse for a party…

And holy crap on a cracker - I was just trying to set up Ziva to be de-matted. It’s $160!!! Nope. For that, I can figure out a way to get rid of the mats myself. Even if it means wrapping her in a towel and clipping the mats out with scissors. She doesn’t need a lion cut and I can’t believe it’s really that expensive! Criminy, I can get Higgs bathed, including cleaning her ears and butt and trimming her nails for $50 including tip!

I wouldn’t have these problems with that cat if she’d just let me brush her…

Seanette, as far as I’m concerned there isn’t any excuse to play Christmas music five months early unless you want someone to leave. For your sake, I hope it stops very, very soon.

The cicadas are blasting outside today and it’s not even time for our brood to come burrowing out of the ground (I guess if it were, that would have happened weeks ago). I forget how loud summer can get until it gets that way. This week’s supposed to be crazy hot. Perfect pool weather.

With regard to early bird-ness vs. night owl, I would like to be an early bird. My body tends that way. But my family is at odds with my body’s schedule, particularly in the summer when the kids are around more, have a later bedtime and I still want to decompress with the husband after they’re in bed. So I wind up a sleepy medium bird.

That is a frightening logical process.

Easy enough to cope with, just change the channel :).

Brat cat decided to freak me out by spending quite some time rubbing her face on a foam cooler that needs to be put away. Weird hard-to-identify sounds when I’m the only human presen are not relaxing.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 26C/77F outside today and although the computer says “sunny”, it’s actually quite overcast but still no signs of rain. Tomorrow is predicted to be down to 19C/66F which will make my commute to campus much more comfortable, apart from the predicted precipitation. Can’t win, can I?

My back’s a bit better today after a weekend of doing nothing productive at all. So far today I’ve cleaned and refilled three litter trays, fed three cats, medicated one cat, done a load of laundry and that’s before I’ve even considered irk. Which has been irksome.

Moooom yay for winter preparations! The radio people must have known about it, which is why they’re playing Hexmas music in the middle of the year.

Nut appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for you. I still have the application to Abertay Uni to complete although I didn’t read it thoroughly the first time and have now found out it’s only 28hrs a week. Hmm…actually at my time of life, four days a week sounds much better than five!

We are going away for a few days in three weeks’ time which means I really need to start thinking about trip plans. I’ve already got ahead of myself and paid the two road toll charges that need to be done. Last time I messed it up and only paid one of them and almost got a fine for the second. I’d rather pay £2.50 up front than a £70 fine just to cross a river.

Taters sorry to hear Polar’s visit was expensive, I hope the vet can help him.

No great plans for this week, I am going to attempt some exercise later when I’ve finished irk, and then relax for a bit as it’s not my turn to provide dinner tonight. I will have an early start in the morning for the trek to campus and tomorrow is also grocery shopping night so there’s that to look forward to.
