A May 30 MMP

JtC I’m so sorry about your friend. How frustrating and upsetting. Does he have banking services and a PO box set up now?

I am glad to hear that you’re finding something for his cat. If nothing works out, please let me know. I’ll see what I can find over here in sunny CA.

I hope the happy balances the sad this time. You’ve made a long journey to get there, taking into account all the time and energy you’ve put into the move. I’ll be thinking of you.

Oopsie Have a great time at the concert. The hubby and I enjoy The Manhattan Transfer, so I will be jealous from here. I’m glad Bailey is doing better.

Wheelie We went to the Oakland Zoo on Saturday. It was busy, and very steep. I wish it wasn’t built on a hill like it is. I did think about you when I was there. I saw the train and it kept you in mind. In any case, good luck with the crowds. Also, go unions!

shoe glad you’re with us!

I’m off to get my COVID test. I’m being scoped throat to tail later this week, and they want a pre-op test.

And we’re back home. We pulled the hoses for the salon and aft cabin air conditioners and finally remembered to bring home all the spares so FCD can sort thru them. We’ve lunched, I have a load of t-shirts in the washer, and we’re not planning to go anywhere. Chillage in the a/c since it’s mid-80s and muggy out there.

We met our boat neighbors - a couple from Pittsburgh who keep their boat in Solomons. Long commute but whatever works for them. We talked to the woman (her name’s Karen) and I waved to the man (Ron) then we took our toys and came home. I love our marina - most of the people we encounter there are really nice - it was the same way back in '98 when we first went there.

Yesterday, my daughter gave Roxy a home COVID test because of how much she’d been coughing (it was neg.) She didn’t like her nose being swabbed and said “Don’t do that to my brother. It will hurt him.…” Awwwwwwww

And that’s the latest from FairyChatEstates!

I have discovered the deliciousness that is Eccles cakes and will try to cram as many in my suitcase as possible. Today we toured York Minster with a tour of the stained glass. The woman who led the tour wrote her dissertation on the windows. A PhD in stained glass?

Pittsburgh people are crazy.

I bought a round postcard there and sent it to a friend. She pulled it out of the mailbox, and managed to drop it just right so it went rolling down the street. Got double the pleasure from it - she enjoyed the card and I enjoyed the story.

Oopsie, glad Bailey’s doing better.

JtC, it’s hard to say no, but your house has to stay off-limits. You’re doing what you can.

shoe glad to see you checking in.

No Memorial Day here. Last Thursday was Ascension, and we got Friday off as well, so we just finished a four day weekend. Next Monday is Whit Monday / Pentecost Monday, so we’ll get a three weekend.

With 5 days of working in between. Watered the tomato plants - we already have 3 tomatoes on the plant which is supposed to bear medium sized tomatoes. None on the cherry tomato plants, so far, but there’s some flowers.

Last year’s hail really did a number on the tomato plants, so we didn’t get much. Hoping to do better this year - I even took out most of the old dirt and put in new stuff and added fertilizer.

Time to get settling down, so need to go find my scotch glass.

Thanks for the support everyone. Hubs is on his way north, we think we’ve managed to find Tony a place in a group care home. Tony has spent a couple of days terrified that he would end up on streets, so we are hoping he’s going to take this lesson to heart.

It’s really sad that he got thrown out of one of the few assisted living places that allow pets, everyone needs someone or something to love them and Tony fucked that up too.

We’ve known Tony for over 20 years. He’s always been an “interesting” character but he used to be very social and enjoyed being around other people. Then came the pandemic and Fox news all day every day. When I think of the man we used to know and compare him to the bitter old man we know now, the only thing that is the same is his love of cats. And now he can’t have his cat anymore.

He still has you and hubs, which is huge. All the credit for this is yours and hubs. Go cuddle a kitty or two, crack open some mead :wine_glass:, you’ve earned it.

So I’ve heard…

T-shirts and jeans are on the line. It’s so hot and sunny, I figure they’ll all dry in about 4 hours. Chillage till then.

Yes, I’ve seen first hand.

While I was feeding the yard flock I noticed that we have four cherry tomatoes starting to blush red. Our Roma just ain’t looking right though. This evening I’ll give everything some plant food before the drippers come on.

I’ve been watering our baby pomegranate with bird bath water (AKA bird poop soup) and it is a happy bush. It’s grown almost 6 inches in height in a month and has gotten pretty bushy. The foliage is darkening in color and all of the freeze damage is gone.

This is good, planting that thing almost killed both of us, if we had lost it to that late freeze I would have put a couple of large planters in front of it and ignored it for the rest of my life cause we weren’t going to do anything else with it.

Playing in our garden is good for my heart

I’m so happy your retirement is going so well and that you have gotten used to not working so quickly.

I know a little about stained glass and it’s interesting stuff. I’m guessing it’s just like any other art form that has evolved throughout the ages and is full of all kinds of fun facts.

I could easily write a PhD dissertation on needlework, heavily focused on threads, stained glass has an entire history to for someone to work with. And it’s pretty.

I’m glad you are still kickin’ shoe. Remember to eat!

It’s so good that your pretty baby is feeling better, I hope you have a great time!

Look what I just pulled out of the closet (5 pics).

You are going to break both your arms. And your wife is going to be PISSED!!!

I’m not about to try it. Not with clay wheels, two destroyed knees, and age.

Howdy Y’all! We are done with the festivatin’. We laughed, we ate, we drank, and we made merry. Everyone hung at the cee-mint pond from around ten-thirty until two o’clock. Then it was inside to shower, eat, and continue with the merry makin’. Everyone was gone by four and dishwasher got loaded up to run later. Also, the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. We are most happy to be inside and in the a/c as ‘tis hawt and way hyoooooomid out. As I have said on many occasions, I love company both comin’ and goin’.

Cookie enjoy the get together!

VanGo back porch is always a good time here.

Oopsie enjoy the music. I love me some Manhattan Transfer! Glad Bailey is doin’ better.

Wheelie extra moolah almost makes up for dealin’ with all the stoopid does it not!

shoe glad everyone is alive and kickin’. I would love to see video of Charm and Pretzel kickin’.

JtC I hope this placement works out for Tony. Maybe he has enough of the fear of God in him now to behave at this place.

Howdy all. Made it to the gym this afternoon but with it closing early (4pm), the pool was extra busy so only had time to swim 500 yards; toasted myself in the sauna for 35 minutes to make up for it some, and may go out for a walk later this evening as things cool down,

JtC, I hope things work out for your friend; I think you and husband-unit have gone above and beyond and now it’s up to him. Hope the group home helps.

Flyboy, might want to get that appraised, it might be worth a few bucks. And I’m with JtC, you know better but the longer you have it, the more you’ll be tempted to try it…

Wet one, I had to google Eccles cake, and they do sound quite delightful. And likely a PhD in History and/or Religion, given the role of the Church in the use of stained glass.

shoe, confirmation recorded. More information welcome when you can/want.

Oopsie, enjoy the jazz tonight.

{{Cookie}}. It’s always bittersweet when family get-togethers on holidays coincide with sad times.

Inocrrect. You can never spend too much time Doping…

OK, need to do a couple things about the house and think about walkies/supper. All y’all take care.

Boo wanders off to google Eccles cakes……

VanGo, the many squirrels in my complex tease Nelson because they realized early on that he had a fat old woman on the other end of the leash. :stuck_out_tongue: He’s pretty much given up trying to chase them while leashed now, but at the dog park…

Glad Bailey’s feeling a bit better oopsie. Enjoy the jazz tonight.

JtC, I hope that the group home works out for Tony. He’s fortunate that he has you and Mr. Cane looking out for him.

wet one, May 31 was my late mother’s birthday too. One of my sisters fools around with making stained glass, in addition to blowing glass, making jewelry from those beads and sewing. If it’s crafty, she’s tried it.

I hope that the sweet time spent with the family helps with the bitter of the loss of your son cookie.

I irked (if you want to call it that, it was mostly reviewing irk instructions) for 2.5 hours this morning before they sent a bunch of us home. I took PTO, but, in hindsight, I should have just put in for it ahead of schedule and slept in. Once home, I put some baked beans in the oven, since the neighbors two doors down invited everyone on our side of the building, plus Miss Ann in the next building over for a cookout. I knew that there was the possibility of being able to go, so I gave them a maybe. The puppers played and a good time was had by all.

This afternoon, I took Nelson to the dog park, where he got to hang out with his buddies Winky and Cotton, along with a couple of other small dogs.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I wouldn’t know where to. As for riding, I have a longboard with urethane wheels if I lose my mind.

eBay. A quick look there showed several Hobies, in various conditions (most more worn than yours), with both metal and clay wheels, from $100-$250. And I didn’t look through all the offerings.

Yours would bring more since you also have the original box. That often adds a lot of value to collectibles.

A skateboard shop might be interested in it as merchandizing decor.

Thanks for looking that up. Maybe I’ll list it for $250 and see what happens.

I also have an Angenieux zoom lens and a couple of primes in a case that went with the Arri 35BL I used to have (and traded it for an Aaton super-16 before I used it). I’m guessing I can get $1,500 for the kit.
