A May 30 MMP

For the record, the purge was/is awful (still not over). I am not a happy camper, but hopefully this will get it over with for several years. They gave me new poison this year and it doesn’t work as well, and other issues that I’m too refined to mentioned. Refined - ha! I’m just sparing you 'cause you’re my buddies.

VanGo I hope your sciatica gives you a break.

Hugs and best wishes to all of you. I’m sure I missed lots. Happy Thursday!

So my co workers have been tripping and falling. Against me. Ow. Also Captain Queeg had her knickers in a twist about not keeping the slides full. Too bad we don’t have some sort of belt to convey bags to us, in stead of her slinging bags by hand.
[Jayne Cobb}She’s beginning to damage my calm.[/Jayne Cobb]

We still have a month till “Yeet The Monarch” Day. :us:

Happy Thorsday!

It’s a breezy 80 degrees outside, so it’s cooling off a little.
We’re supposed to have thunder boomers later.

No park this morning, I picked up my son from irk, came home, and went back to bed.
I was sleeping so hard, my son had to call me three times to wake me up.
The dogs will have to deal with it.
They were so tired from daycare yesterday. When I took my son to irk, Echo slept in the back seat with him. Ripple was sitting in the passenger seat; his head was hanging low and his eyes were closed. There’s a hairpin curve at the parking lot and I thought Ripple was going to fall over.

They were raring to go this morning when a black cat crossed the alley in front of us. I saw the cat before they did and got a good grip on them with one hand and grabbed onto the truck with the other.
Glad they didn’t get loose because a car came speeding down the alley just a few seconds later. I feel like putting up signs that say, ‘It’s an alley, not a speedway!’
It’s always fing assholes who use the alley on purpose so they don’t have to worry about stop signs and red lights. They want to risk killing a kid or a pet to shave a few seconds off their time.
If I’m doing 10mph down the alley, I feel like I’m going too fast.

Today I have to deal with a package that FedEx says they delivered. It’s not out front, we even checked out back. Nothing shows up on the Ring at the time they say it was delivered. Nothing shows up on the Ring showing somebody stealing the package, unless the BB&W cat took it. He is always setting off the Ring.

My mother saw the doctor yesterday and he said not to worry yet about the counts. Her chemo can’t go any stronger or the chemo will kill her. She was supposed to get a CAT scan in three weeks, but he is moving that up to ASAP. She was a little drifty when I was talking to her last night, but so was I as I was so sleepy.

Sorry for the pain VanGo, I’ve been there.

I would get a little tired of Punk/Pop too BooFae
Punk I can take in small doses, pop usually makes me want to scream.

I’m glad Bailey is getting better.

My package came as I was typing.
Unfortunately, I don’t know who delivered that as the Ring doesn’t show anything other than the package. Usually, it picks up to the street so it should have shown somebody walking up the sidewalk.
I don’t know if FedEx brought it or a neighbor who received it by mistake.
Since it was fresh food, I called the company and asked if it was safe. All the ice packs were melted and while some of the trays felt cold, others didn’t. They told me to throw it out and are giving me a refund.

I need to order groceries to be picked up tomorrow. My son is up early, and whenever I ask him what time he wants to get them, all he can say is, ‘I don’t know’. That is no help, but since he is irking I thought I’d leave it up to him.
We should’ve have gone last week, but he didn’t want to.
I have a shit ton of other stuff to do.
My LIst would make you cry.

@Sunny_Daze , my recent colonoscopy was the most thoroughly unpleasant experience of my life. Six hours of non stop diarrhea and 40 hours without food. I had an upper GI at the same time and the anesthesiologist gave me something to dry my mouth and boy howdy, my mouth was like the Sahara for 2 days. Dr found 9 polyps so I get to do this again in 3 years. You have my sympathy.

{{sari}}. Sounds like several things are getting to you at the same time, and sah-son ain’t helping matters. Take care.

Sunny, at tis’ done and you have several years to forget how awful it was.

Taters, May is also my month to renew the liscense plates, Ali-bama does send notifications and you can pay by mail if you want. This year we got a whole new license plate to replace the old one instead of just the stick-ons.

Dry cleaning has been dropped off and front yard mowed (it rained for about 20 minutes afterward, so my timing was pretty good). Think I’ll get my weights and cycling done this afternoon and have the evening free. Cheeburger is defrosting nicely for tonight’s consumption.

Everybody take care now.

Well, FIL is at it again. For whatever reason, he decided to “service” their water softener. He took it apart so bad it had to be thrown away. So he went to where it came into the house, and cut some wires. I hope they weren’t hot… Anyway, FCD is probably going to be heading down there soon to deal with that and several other things that MIL and FIL can’t handle. Still no idea if a trek to Texas is likely.

BIL is in the hospital after a fall a couple of days ago. And last night, he fell again in the hospital, trying to go from bed to bathroom. They’ve got him in a room with a big observation window so they can keep an eye on him till they can transfer him to a hospital that’s better equipped to deal with his issues. He may not have much longer to go.

For reasons we can’t fathom, Roxy has regressed in potty training - to the point that she pooped in her pants twice today while here! What the heck does one do?? She’s otherwise a super-smart kid, but for some reason, she doesn’t seem to care if she pees and poos in her pants. Daughter has tried offering rewards when she potties successfully to little effect. The kid is FOUR!!! This should be long in her past.

And Tobias gave me two well-filled diapers today, so it’s been a poopy Thursday. They’re both back with their mom and I won’t have Toby again till Tuesday. Roxy should be able to go back to school tomorrow - no fever today, just poop.

I think it’s time to veg in my recliner.

{{sari}} and {{FCM}} (and whoever else needs one!)

All of my lab results are in, and the dried pineapple did not screw up my fasting glucose; in fact, that number was under the type 2 diabetes indicator for the first time since I was diagnosed (~14 years ago)! And my A1C is downright stellar: those who know about such things will understand my joy at being able to report that it is 5.5 – which is also below the “type 2 diabetes” threshhold for the first time since I was diagnosed! The nurse practitioner actually sent me a note this morning about how low it is. I do have to make another tweak to my supplements: my vitamin D is too high, so I’m switching my multivitamin to one that doesn’t include it. After the level comes down, we’ll add a low dose of daily D back to my regimen. I knew there would be lots of adjustments like this; it’s why I see both the nutritionist and the nurse practitioner every 3 months for the first year.

A brief thunderstorm just passed; it was here and gone in less than an hour. There’s a chance for another one around dinnertime. I’m sorry that Bailey will have to deal with her least-favorite weather just when she’s finally starting to feel like herself again, but I’m glad for the break in the heat!

I’m only on book #2, but I do like that in each one there has been some solid character info and scene-setting before The Drama starts. I’m enjoying the characters and the mysteries, and the setting. I’m even enjoying the bits of French, because that’s the language I studied for several years (and still know un petit peu).

Did you know that Amazon is turning the books into a series, with Alfred Molina as Gamache? It seems to be based on this second book. Apparently there was also a made-for-TV movie nine years ago, based on the first book, which seems to only be available now via Acorn. I’ve been going back and forth about Acorn vs BritBox forever while not subscribing to either one…this might finally tilt the scale for me!

Push a button and walk away. Humpf. Where’s the fun in that?

Honestly, if I wasn’t planning on going any further into cheese making, I’d buy a yogurt maker as well.

There are several subjects I will speechify about if given the opportunity. Ask me about cotton thread, I dares ya!!!

Do you have cruise control? I’m positive mine has saved me from many tickets because if I’m in control my speed starts to creep up until I notice that I’m dong 90 in a 60 area.

Dang, pain like that is horrible, I’m sorry you are hurting.

I’m starting to get really concerned about you and your stress levels. Is it possible for you to pay a housekeeper to come in once a week or so? That would take a bit of the load off you which could give you a little breathing room.

I’m so sorry things are going so poorly with him. Hopefully he’s forgotten about driving to Texas by now.

I’m going to start by saying that I know that kids aren’t cats but if one of our cats started pooping inappropriately, kitty would be going to the vet. Could Roxy be having control issues because she’s still got the crud?

I don’t understand your joy, but I know that you are happy so I’m happy too! Congrats!

Or roxys problem might be related to the arrival of her little brother …I remember a conversation or two about how that might happen last year or so before his arrival …

Howdy Y’all! I got things done and then slothed away the rest of the day. Well, sup got fixed so I guess that counts as productivity. Oh, and the chili got made as well and is now portioned out in quart containers that reside in da freezer until used. OK, two productive things then. I may need to rest all day tomorrow after all that!

It’s just about thru here - we took FCD’s car to the shop so it can get its oil changed tomorrow, and the skies opened! I was struggling to see where the lane lines were, but we got home safely.

There was more than that - I had to boil the milk, then let it cool to whatever temperature, then dump in the starter, mix, and pour into the cups and plug in the maker. Quite a lot for a college kid to deal with! :stuck_out_tongue:

I    my cruise control! I use it every time I drive without fail.

More than likely, it’s regression due to Toby getting lots of attention - at least many articles I’ve read suggest that. I’m going to talk to my daughter about having Mommy and Me days when I keep the boy.

Looks like my poor sweetie will be going to FL on Tuesday to undo some of the damage his dad has done. I’m hoping he can also persuade his mother to get some help a day or two a week. She can’t care for her husband if she’s dead - cold, but true. But at least for a couple of days, he can lighten her load.

Sounds like the storm has finally passed. It was a real toad-soaker! Or, as a friend of my elegantly put it: “like a cow pissing on a flat rock” - yeah, I have classy friends!

Yay for Bailey’s progress oopsie! And 5.5 is pretty darn good.

I had one of those yogurt makers back in the day too Mooooooom.

I have to get new tags this month taters. Like metal mouse, we’re getting new plates, not just stickers.

{{{VanGo}}} Sciatica is a right bitch. For me, only heat and chiropractic care will take care of things.

Irked half a day today. While talking with one of my friends in outbound freight, he brought up the ages that you see there these days: over 50 or under 30. That right there will tell you that there are better opportunities for those in their prime income years. They sent most of us indirect labor types home after 5 hours today. Oy!

I took Nelson to the dog park this afternoon. There was a nice breeze to keep the skeeters at bay (it rained this morning) and he got to play with Cotton, Winky and his buddy Layla May (min pin / beagle mix about his size with longer legs). I visited with their dads for a bit before we all left and now he’s snoozing.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

You…you…you boiled the milk?!? Collapses on fainting couch.

If you do buy another yogurt maker try to avoid boiling the milk, once you get it past 200F you start killing off all the good bacteria and altering the fat cells in a bad way. You will probably get better results by not raising the temp that high.

You also forgot to mention that you had to wash the bottles and lids and as a poor college student, you had to wash them by hand. Oh the horror, LOL!!!

Some of the newer yogurt makers are like bread machines, just put the right amounts of stuff in, push a button and walk away. I’m sure they do a very good job but I don’t have storage room for an unnecessary to me hobby gadget when I already have the tools and time to do a better job.

flyboy, my advice now is to buy a good yogurt machine and always add two cups of cream to each gallon of whole milk instead of the low fat milk the recipes usually call for. The large amounts of milk fat you will be using will mess with the times but a good machine should allow you to adjust for that as needed.

Moving on, my cherry jam has set nicely and is pretty good but needs some really sharp sourdough bread. I’ve got the stuff to make a sourdough starter and then make some bread but I don’t really have that much motivation so I’ll buy a loaf from the bakery when I’m in town next week.

I could make sourdough English Muffins though. I’ve watched enough British Baking that I should be able to whip them out in an hour or so. LOLOLOL, sometimes I just crack myself up!

Today I’ve been watching the Jubilee and reflecting on a politician so popular that she gets into a slow, open horse drawn carriage with her kids and grands and parades in front of throngs of people carefree.

hey, I found a bottle we all need to go in on … like sell shares to

its only 25152.00 us and I’m sure some of our UK friends could help us out a bit too

Evening all. Pedaled 7.5 miles without going anywhere at the gym, along with the lawn mowage that tired me out just fine and the rest of the day has been slower. Just spent a fair amount of money on my plane tickets for my February vacation to Antarctica, they weren’t cheap but it was less than I had budgeted so I’ll call that a win. Got non-stops to and from Buenos Aires via Miami, so don’t have to worry about changing planes somewhere in Central/south America. Now to do some hotel shopping…

Yeah, that was going to be my guess; if Toby can do it then why can’t I? Mom time and maybe some peer pressure once school starts up again will help.

And sorry to hear about FIL issues; they really need to move somewhere for elders or this will not end well. FCD is going to end up in poor condition from all he is doing for them.

Oopsie, cheers for the lab results, hope they remain good.

OK, onward into the evening. All y’all take care now.

I’ll have to see what I can find.

Dinner tonight was a fish sandwich; mahi mahi baked with olive oil and taco seasoning, with American cheese and tartar sauce (well, mixed mayo and relish) on low-carb bread. The Missus had her yoghurt. Goo did help me eat a little of the fish.

I saw a bunny in the back yard a couple of times today.

I walked 3.12 miles down the beach, to the mouth of Terrell Creek, and back. I met a fuzzy, tailless Australian shepherd named Lucy.

If I was in the market for one, this is the sort of thing I’d buy.

Your diet also allows whole fat cream cheese, a machine that does that as well might be handy.

Not that I’m trying to lure you into madness or anything…

Napped, watched hockey, mad Italian chicken with orzo. Gordie slept through my Jungle delivery. He did not sleep through my roommate bringing home pizza.

I’m not a monarchist, but I’d throw in for that.

By the sounds of the scratching, the squirrels have found a new way into the eaves. Fuckers. I just repaired one end of the house.

doggio Curious about the mad chicken. I made some pulled pork tonight that would make bbq purists really grumpy.

The back is feeling better after sleeping on the floor for a few hours. Let’s see how tomorrow goes.
