<sigh> It’s this sort of simple-minded Bibliolatry that makes educated people think fundamentalists are slackjawed hillbillies.
His4Ever seems to think the the people wrote the relgious texts that were later compiled as The Bible were taking dictation directly from the mouth of God Himself, who apparently spoke English. She and her droogs seem unaware that
A) The books of the Bible were written in Hebrew and Greek, not English, thus any translation, even the Holy King James Version, must be apporached with a grain of salt.
B)The legal codes of a tribe of desert-dwelling shepherds 4,000 years ago have no real relevance to our society. C’mon, God commands people to treat their slaves well, but apparently He never forbade the practice of slavery, which is understandable if you realize the Mosaic codes are not divine, but human.
C. She says that the Mosaic prohibition of homosexuality must be observed (which means, I guesds, that she would kill me if she ever met me, since God commands the deaths of homosexuals), but she says that other practires which are called abominations as well (to’ebah in Hebrew), like eating shellfish and wearing cotton/poly blends are no longer in force. She picks and chooses verses to support her prejudices and then like a coward, she hides and says, “Don’t blame ME, I’m just telling you what God says.”
D. She has no clue that her church has done enormous damage to gay people, and I suspect she doesn’t care. But, then she has demonstrated a vast ignorance about the modern world–she knows no language save English and cannot parse the original languages of the Bible; she knows nothing about ancient history or cultures; she knows nothing about modern science, like the etiology of sexual behavior. Yet, she claims to be in a postion to speak with authority on all these topics. I feel no obligation to listen to the preaching of someone who is demonstrably unedcated, and worse, lacks the basic intelligence to benefit from education.
