I’m seeing various threads, of usual Doperific variety. Within them, posters’ sigs are repeating over and over again. I know folks aren’t doing this deliberately–it’s very easy to overlook that the “show signature” option is now checked, by default. Seems to me that it should be the other way around, as it was in the board’s previous life.
I second this request… this little feature has been annoying to me in the last few days.

I thought there was a way to change this per user, but I can’t seem to find that option. I’d prefer NOT to show sigs by default, since I seldom really want to use mine.

Well, well, well. I was posting in another thread when I noticed that my sig was MISSING (cue the organ music). So in acting quickly with clear mind, I went though my posting procedure to find the problem was that the sig choice is now automatically U N C H E C K E D.
I wondered what could have prompted such a huge change so being the nosy type I did a little digging in the ATMB, and found this thread (tisk, tisk).
FYI I happen to enjoy the checked sig option, you see I have a small sig which I like to use often and had enjoyed the previous option to uncheck it if I didn’t want to use it. Now I have to waste precious energy using the extra muscles to check it every time I post.
Here is what I suggest, Polling. Post a poll in MPSIMS and ask if people want it one way or the other. It is the only democratic way to go.
I’ll vote right here! Sigs should be disallowed altogether. There’s nothing so witty that it needs to be repeated in every post I make.
If you can’t find merit in what you say, doesn’t mean that everyone has that same additude. The thing is, a sig isn’t something that has to be used in all posts, people have the permission to shut them off if don’t want to use.
If you don’t like to have a sig no one is even forcing you to have one, and if you don’t like others having sigs you don’t have to read what others say. You shouldn’t have the power to silence the messages of others at whim, just because…

Anyways if Arnold’s vote is to get rid of all sigs, I will vote for everyone to be forced to have a sig and use them always.
