What are these rumors I hear about a new season of “Absolutely Fabulous,” with most—if not all—of the original cast?
Does anyone have any poop on this? I hope and assume it would be released in the U.S.?

Oh, super! I hope it’s not a buggery, bloody, bollocksy rumor. AbFab is what I put in the video to cheer up when I feel depressed and I need a laugh, or even when I feel great. I’ve worn out my boxed set and would look forward to some new episodes. If it’s true, I hope that they do indeed have the same cast; everyone was magic together. Love Julie Sahwala (sp?)! I’ll get on google as soon as this post is submitted and see what I can find out.
As an aside, didn’t Roseanne buy the rights to this show in America? I can’t see anyone being able to make drug use, alcoholism, promiscuity and child neglect funny on American television.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! (does happy dance) “. . . best notify my next of kin, this wheel shall expire!”

and
Yes!
This alone is worth the amount of money I pay for cable! I love this show.

For some reason I assumed Cybill Shepherd’s CYBILL (sp?) was the US version of AbFab, with Marianne (sp?) representing Patsy and the rest pretty much gone to pot. Not that the redhead wasn’t cute but Julia Sawalha (sp?) was unique in British TV as actually being kinda real-life cute, and that’s how she won her fame.
ps: if this was true it was ruined by Marianne’s occasional lapses into serious acting ([cite]"I want my son back![/cite]), which made us take her alcoholism seriously and ruined the vibe.
pps: what does the US think of the rest of Jennifer Saunders’ work, then? French and Saunders? Comic Strip? Yes? No?
I saw only sporadic episodes of French and Saunders during the early 90s. The first few (with a shrill older woman I think??) kinda were boring, but the next couple (new season?) were extremely funny. How many seasons were they on, anyway?
Is Smack the Pony suppose to be the new French and Saunders?
YE HAA!!!
THE “GREATEST”!
Here in the U S, let’s hear it for COMEDY CENTRAL!
Sweetie, I’m chanting even as we speak!
[sub]Will Saffy be back? It won’t be AbFab without Saffy[/sub]
How does that one exchange between Edina and her mother go?
“Inside of me, there’s a thin person screaming to get out!”
“Just the one, dear?”
I recently saw the BBC Comic Relief video spoof of Doctor Who (Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death), with Jonathon Pryce as The Master; Julia Sawalha as Emma, the Assistant; and Rowan Atkinson, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, Richard Grant, and Joanna Lumley (yes, all of them) as the Doctor. Funny Stuff. The tape also had a French and Saunders Doctor Who spoof on it as well.
And I can’t wait for the new AbFab! Are they showing in England first? (as usually this is how it works w/ British TV in the USA)
Oh, Pug, thanks for the heads-up! Something to get me through the dreary winter months.
Ross—I can’t speak for the rest of the U.S., but I didn’t care for the few French & Saunders episodes I saw, at all. I do love Dawn French in The Vicar of Dibley, though. And should you ever feel the need to spell Cybill’s name, remember she was named after her grandfathers, Cyril and Bill.
Tsk . . . I meant “. . . this wheel shall EXPLODE,” of course. Someone must have put Stoli in my water glass yesterday.
Eve, thanks for tipping me off. I hadn’t an inkling that anything was in the works, and Mr. Pug is also cheering. Here’s the result of more surfing, if you’d like to see what absurd new costumes Bubbles is coming up with this time around. These are pics taken during the filming of the second episode, which was shot in Paris:
