A panicky MMP!

Super-duper timestamp on my previous post sez 8:31 AM. Not really early for another day at the office*, is it?

*Which it is. Christmas is not a day off here.

Huh, learn something new everyday. I’ve never heard Irish Coffee referred to as God’s Blessing.

The do at MiL’s was…loud. Lots of excited little ones add up to a lot of noise. I’m currently finishing cleaning up the house and have stuffed the kids’ stockings.

It’s snowing gangbusters right now, but is SUPPOSED to turn to rain sometime tomorrow.

Og, I am tired. I just want to curl up in bed and sleep for the next week. I’m coming down with a damn cold too. I keep sneezing and have to keep blowing my nose. I hurt my damn back blowing my nose! How the hell does a person do that?!

Merry Christmas to one and and all with big bear hugs and smooches to all!

We just wrapped up a HUGE user certification effort. Roughly 18,000 user IDs have been identified and correlated to actual people. Emails are buzzing around from my second-up management expressing gratitude. <pssst!> Emails are free. How about some tangible gratitude?

We picked a bad night to procrastinate the grocery shopping.

Doc has me on new antibiotics. Hopefully the gremlins in my sinuses will succumb to it.

The stocking are hung by the [del]bat house[/del] chimney with care, and I’m finally tired enough to think about going to bed, so I will.

Ok. So I guess I’m supposed to stay on Santa watch all night. Apparently he was phoning to let me know he was on his way WHEN THE PHONE JUST RANG AT 4:30A.M.!

(When TVMan answered it was a private number and whoever it was hung up without saying anything.)

So much for having gone back to sleep.:o

Mele Kalikimaka!

Merry Christmas and greetings of the season liberally distributed! Is that festive or what??

Idiot Scruffy decided she *had *to go out at 6:45, so I had to get up to assist her in that effort. Doggies have been fed, as have I (nothing like a peanut butter sammich for Christmas breakfast.) **FCD **is watching some cop show on TV. We’ll be leaving in a couple of hours for the insanity that is Christmas with my side of the family. My bro is a pretty good cook, so the munchies should be tasty.

Here’s hoping the traffic isn’t bad - we’ve got a 2 hour drive to his place in Timonium. Weather radar is nice and clear, so there’s that.

Ho Ho Ho!!

Ugh, I am full of cheesecake and various other sorts of food. We went for a fancy hotel lunch - four course meal which left us unable to move, then for dinner we had a Korean meat dish that left me unable to think.

I’m actually really stressed out about work right now because of various miscommunications and a clusterfuck that may end with me teaching 18 more hours per week next month, instead of the original 9 (for winter vacation intensive classes). It wouldn’t be so bad except that I’ve already agreed to be the head instructor for the grammar classes, PLUS I told Research and Development that I’d help them revamp the Greek drama course. What really pisses me off is that they basically forced me into agreeing to teach the 18 hours even while saying that I “still had a choice” - yeah, the choice of either bending over and taking it or being put on upper management’s shitlist.

Sorry about that. Enjoy the remainder of your Christmases.

You know, I am all for a White Christmas, but apparently I should never have asked for snow. Once it gets light I will take a picture and we can all play “Which Pile Of Snow Is My Car?”

I have this sneaking suspicion I’m not getting to work today. And I don’t want to miss work, I need the money.

Oh, and Merry Christmas and whatnot to all of you.

{{{Haze}}} Your meal sounds… big!!! Hang in there, kid. I’m glad you’re back posting with us.

Merry Christmas! Mr Rebo is still asleep, but Dad is up. The dogs have been fed and are enjoying their after-breakfast nap. I’ve had a couple of cups of coffee with Bailey’s - I woke up with a headache about 4:00 am, but managed to doze until 5:30. Still had a headache, hence the Bailey’s. I feel better, now.

I watched Miracle on 34th Street. I am such a sap.

It’s about 60°F and not raining right now, though there’s a chance later.

I’m getting hungry! I’m gonna go put Mom’s Peach casserole in the oven, since it takes an hour to bake. I think I hear hubby stirring, too.

Enjoy your day, Mumpers!

Sorry, I don’t help with pole erections (Norwegian or British, no problem!). <runs away, cackling>

Happy 25th Day of December, Everyone! I’m sorry for you poor sods who have to work (having had to do so for many, many years). Coffee cake is rising as I type; punch fixings, sausage etc are at the ready.

We had a nice, nice day yesterday. It rained a bit, flooding the 2 inch ice layer. We managed to get about half the driveway chipped off (I did go out and help). We went to early service for church (5pm) because I didn’t want to eat and drink and then go out in the cold. Good thing, since the temperature dropped and going to church at 9 or midnoc would have been nippy, indeed.

Saw a beautiful sunrise as I mixed the dough and laughed out loud when a jogger ran by, sporting a Santa hat. I like stuff like that.

I shall have to post in the shitty present thread, if one exists. My mother got me 12 dinner napkins (linen, monogrammed-nice, but honestly? Me no use 'em) and my THIRD book on Eleanor of Aquitaine. My dad gave me one when I was 12, my mother when I was 22 now at 46. I’m not sure if they’re trying to bring me 'round to the idea of being locked in a tower or are just forgetful. The kids got me nice stuff, though. I don’t think I need fear my nursing home choice…
I hope all the MMPers stay safe and warm (or cool, depending on location).

What’s this with the Saxon-ism? :stuck_out_tongue:
Semitic dude’s no good for ya? (Hey, I look Scottish, which is kinda, sorta British! I can even imitate the accent. A bit.)

Yeah. I mean, for years now I’ve been working Christmas, New year’s, Easter and every single Sunday!!! I’ll need a lot of care and encouragement from you to stop feeling sorry for myself…

Weather is rainy and about 60-ish F, which is about the closest to real winter we get here in Tel-Aviv, so I guess it’s date-appropriate…

The girls (wife, Special Teen and FTT*) have all been sent off for a long weekend in London to celebrate FTT’s Bat Mitzvah (and the tanking pound :p) by tearing up Oxford Street on Boxing day  So it’s just me and the boy (MTT) for the duration. Since like all normal male adolescents he lives in his [del]lair[/del] room and rarely ventures out… looks like I’m going to have a lot of privacy over the weekend…

  • For the last time (until the next time): Female Terrible Twin

Merry Christmas to the MMPers who celebrate!

Hope Santa was good to you!

(Look- Lunch and I made ours look the same, and I didn’t even peek first!)

::checks for fastest flight to Tel Aviv::

Okay, as promised, “Can You Find My Car?”

Dude. There could be a hippo under there.

I know!

SNOW DAY!

I just called in. I’m supposed to be in at 11 and frankly it Ain’t. Gonna. Happen.

Morning. Coffee is made, I’m contemplating breakfast. Liquid snow is falling from the sky.

{{{{Haze}}}}

rigs, I’m part Irish, will that do?

snowbunny, it’s the 3rd lump on the left.

Klaatu Varada Nickto!

I knew a manager who made an announcement “It is now (closing time +20 minutes), please leave as we have released the wolves!”:smiley:

[spoiler]Merry Christmas!

And Happy Thursday to the heathens!

Yawn. G’morning, y’all… Why do animals always need to get up at about the same time? Or, more germane, why does Himself not ever hear those animals but I always do? Grump.

It rained a bunch yesterday, so now the snow is not so high but it’s covered with a heavy crust of ice and it’s slicker than snot on a doorknob out there. Yuck. I told Himself yesterday that he’d better get out there to shovel and brace up the DMZ before it gets worse but of course he doesn’t listen to me. I’m sure it will be much easier for him today…

Maybe I should go tip a measure of Bushmill’s into my morning cup–that would put a nice shiny bow on the morning! So yeah, happy merry whatever to whoever is doing [del]whom[/del] whatever today and drive safe, wherever you go, 'kay? I think I’m gonna put a concerted effort into finishing this annoyingly yawny book I’m reading and make a mental note to myself that I don’t give a crap about the rest of the series!

Or take a nap… :stuck_out_tongue:

I just dug my way past my car to the road to see how deep it was there; they plowed several hours ago, but it’s nearly up to my knees. And it’s snowing harder than it was earlier! Unfortunately my camera batteries just croaked so I can’t get any more pics, but I think we’ve gotten at least a couple more inches since then.

Yep, nothing like digging a path through snow and having the sides of said path being at or above your head. I may be short, but daaaaaaaaayum.

But I have a lovely cozy little house with power and I have lots of food on hand. I hope I can get out tomorrow!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I’m up, but I’m the only one up. I kind of miss the kids trying to get us out of bed at o’dark thirty to unwrap their presents. The kids unwrapping their presents brings me the greatest joy and is the best part of Christmas for me.

I’m gonna wake everyone up now!
