I don’t see it noted anywhere, but Trump has all but announced his 2024 candidacy. He told Hannity the other night that he’s made up his mind, and … it’s not that he wants to run, but the country needs him.
Making this quasi-announcement on the day that his organization gets indicted is almost too on-the-nose summary of everything Trumpian.

One of the Trump lawyers is on TV talking about how bigger criminals have gotten away with this before. I don’t think that’s a great argument to make.
That seems to be their chief defense. “Other people did it too” is not the gotcha they think it is
“Give us some names, and after we’re done with this case we’ll go and investigate them.”
It’s a typical Trump distraction technique. “Look over here instead! Trump only looks like a criminal when you’re looking at him so stop looking at him!”

Seems to be a sign that Donald has lost his touch: NO reputable news organization is going to lead with ‘Trump is running in 2024!!!1!!1!’ when they could lead with ‘Trump Organization and CFO indicted.’ As a distraction, it’s subpar.
Of course it DOES give the Murdoch outlets something to fill the time/space with, so as to avoid mentioning the indictments. But that’s nothing compared with the Headline Grabbing Distractors of old.
