A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

Nothing new. Here is an email I sent her at the end of May:

My name is [redacted] and I live in Mesa, [zip redacted]. I read with dismay and disgust today your failure to vote on HR3233. As a Democrat you do not have the excuse, as flimsy as it is, that the wingnut branch of your party will turn you outcome the next primary. The two senators from Georgia, who won by the skin of their teeth and have a lot more to fear than you do, managed to be on the floor and vote while you did not.

Your spokeswoman has stated that you support the the legislation, have,“said so publicly, and … will be entering into the Congressional record that she would’ve voted yes.” Let me remind you that words are cheap and “would have” counts for nothing. Acta non verba.

Your inaction, along with the votes of the cowards in the Republican party, mean that we may never learn the entire truth of the events of January 6th. January last year I pleaded with then-Senator McSally to do the right thing and vote to convict Trump’s impeachment. She blinked and this week, so did you.

The actions of the Trump administration in general and his Republican enablers in particular have made it quite impossible for me to vote for a Republican ever again. Right now I cannot see myself voting for you either.

So far I have had no reply.

Yesterday I saw a post - I can’t remember which thread and I can’t find it- about Rudy’s deposition in the defamation case brought by Dr. Eric Coomer and Dominion voting.

The general reporting is that ……surprise surprise…….Rudy had no evidence for anything he said other than random internet bullshit and he brushed off anything that debunked the bullshit as propaganda by Trump haters.
I couldn’t resist .
I found the entire deposition and stayed up late into the night reading. I don’t know where to start.

The first several pages where nothing more than an attempt to clarify who Rudy and all the lawyers were working for….Trump? His campaign? After dancing around it for several pages, the lawyer for Dominion initiated this exchange

Q: Were you ever paid to represent the campaign?
A: I was not. I was reimbursed for my expenses
Q: Why were you representing the campaign for no compensation?
A: The President - The President ordered me to do it.

(I really wish the next question was - Are you fucking kidding me, do you know the President can’t demand that you work for him for free?”, but it wasn’t.)
Q. When did that occur?
A: The election was January 3rd. If you don’t mind, I’ll recreate.
I wish I had video of this moment. The election was January 3rd. That would’ve been on the 4th or 5th.
Q: I think you misspoke.
(I bet the guy was trying really hard not to laugh his ass off.)
A: Did I say January? November 3rd. November 4th or 5th we’re talking about. Either on the 4th or 5th, the President said in the Oval Office, I want you to go over and take over, take over the campaign, tell them you’re in charge.

At this point Rudy’s lawyer desperately tried to shut him up, reminding him that his communications with Trump were privileged. But Rudy then revealed he had nothing privileged to reveal because he had absolutely no idea what Trump meant or exactly what he had put Rudy in charge of.

At some point they basically gave up on trying to figure out who everyone was working for and got to the defamation, which basically came down to Rudy being 100% sure Dr. Eric Coomer had tried to rig the Election because someone had shown him stuff that had allegedly been deleted from his Facebook page, stuff that proved …….he hated Trump. He must be guilty, because he really hated Trump.

Here’s some fun quotes from the depo.

Here’s a quote that explains how Rudy knows Coomer fixed the election because he hated Trump

[Coomer] made a couple of other derogatory comments about Trump that I can’t recall right now, and he said that he had also found or either he or someone else had been able to recapture, I don’t know if it was all but a good deal of the social postings that had been taken down and he had copies, paper copies of them and he showed them to me and I read through them very very quickly and they sort of fit into a category of social postings of people.

After another similar gish-gallop of hearsay, the lawyer asked him to clarify who the pronouns were referring to and Rudy replied.

Pronouns are very controversial now

(on adjudication, which Rudy doesn’t understand) That’s an absurd number. You have 10 people walk in, they think they’ve voted for Bush…sorry, wrong case

On voting machines
We’ve got what we’d call in New York a fugazi machine. Fugazi machine means a crooked machine

(On the report by Michigan Republicans debunking election fraud)
Did the Holy Ghost come in and move the votes around or did someone change the machine? The second seems more likely.

On Eric Coomer and the lawsuit
If you go to Kill Chain you can see them do it in broad daylight and they bring out the whole history so I don’t understand what he’s complaining about.

On the alleged conference call that Coomer had with “Antifa”. At this point Rudy has confirmed that he didn’t hear the alleged recording of the call and didn’t interview witnesses. The lawyer just asked if he’d reviewed any notes of call.
They showed me something about the call, some pieces of paper, so I can’t tell you if they did or didn’t.

On the Trump campaign memo that debunked Rudy’s wilder theories
This was done for Dominion to cover its ass. Nobody ever bothered to give it to me because they knew I would go crazy if I saw it.

And my favorite - here’s one of his excuses for not researching his claims.
I’m constrained by time. Constrained by time, I don’t mean the press conference time. I mean the realistic time.

I’ve failed to capture the total insanity, the questions he answered with long rants about Hunter Biden and The Washington Post votes being switched in Spain and/or Germany and Constitutional controversies in the 1800’s . The short quotes aren’t cutting it and I can’t type out the long ramble rants. Seriously, if you have time, read it. It’s insane. Literally.

Wasn’t Rudy the Mayor of America on 9/11??

Lin Wood says it didn’t really happen.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/maga-attorney-lin-wood-tells-silent-crowd-that-9-11-was-a-cover-up-involving-cgi-and-missiles-we-got-played/ar-AAP4C8Y?li=BBorjTa

“Let’s talk about CGI—computer graphics generated images. You know what CGI is? You know what deep fake videos are? I know you know what Photoshopping is,” Wood said at a rally in Georgia on Friday.

That is some impressive CGI that can produce smoke and rubble on a scale like that.

Okay, I admit it. My “friend” who pretended to be killed in the WTC attack has been living under a secret identity in Bolivia for 2 decades.

Rudy under oath, it’s a beautiful thing! Thanks for the link and the snippet!

That was crisis rubble. The rubble was probably paid by Soros to lie there.

These people are so fucking proud to be morons, I’m embarrassed for them.

It’s especially stupid to be a 9/11 “thruther”. To think CGI was involved is just… insane.

I really feel like I can’t take this shit anymore. I so dislike these people.

The problem is not that there are crazy people - there have always been crazy people.

The problem is that the crazy people have had so much access to the halls of power without ever being called out for their insanity.

Sadly for Rudy, you can’t plead not guilty by reason of insanity in a civil case.

It’s holograms, all the way up.

Yes. And also that the rest of us, watching these crazy and/or sociopathic people exercising massive power, have to pretend that it’s All Normal.

Reading Ann_Hedonia’s post with the Excerpts from the Demented Deposition, I flashed back to Jan 2017 - Jan 2021. Virtually EVERYONE at the head of our government was stupid, venal, corrupt, and incapable of telling the truth. And we all had to just…accept it. If we believed in democracy, we had to just …wait. Wait for November 2020 (NOT January, Rudy!)

.

Today there’s plenty of doubt that Congress will get around to doing anything that will protect the 2022 and 2024 elections. So we face an extremely frightening prospect: more Rudys making up our government at every level…forever.

Very well-crafted. I don’t wonder that she hasn’t replied; it’s got to be a metaphorical “sunlight threatens to hit the Undead” kind of message for her.

I gather the “Primary Kyrsten Sinema” movement is doing quite well:

Who knows how (or if) she’ll react to such pressure?

Geez. That’s worse than a boot stamping on a human face.

Indeed—Orwell lived in a more stable time, comparatively speaking (yes, even with Nazis and Stalinists and all their doings).

Not even Orwell could have imagined Rudy.

Sorry if this may have been mentioned before, but after all of Trump’s bravado about setting up an awesome new Trumpified version of Twitter (which no doubt would put the failing Twitter out of business) and several pathetically failed attempts at it, he’s now desperate and begging to be let back on to Twitter …

Not yet mentioned in this thread.

I would bet real cash that it’s Trump’s attendants (Melania et al) who are pushing him to sue Twitter—ANYTHING to distract him from his usual daily pursuits of screaming at them and demanding they make him President.

The lawsuit itself will keep him a bit busy, but if Twitter relented and let him back on…just think of the Trump-free hours the attendants would be able to enjoy as he happily sat on his throne, typing away!

Thank you. It takes me a long time to craft a letter to a politician so that I come across as a reasonable person rather than a one-issue foaming at the mouth zealot plus sticking to one subject – not easy when they have a whole body of work you object to.

Besides, it gives me room for escalation later on if warranted. :slightly_smiling_face:

I mentioned writing McSally; I actually sent her three emails, in January, May, and finally October just a couple days before the election. The first two were answered – doubtless written by a staffer – and neither answered the main thrust of the message. The third I wrote and, having no hope she would leave the Dark Side, I gave it to her with the bark off, addressing her as Ms. rather than Senator or Colonel as I did in the first two.

Well, Ms. McSally, I hope you are happy with your legacy, a 6 - 3 conservative supreme court. It seems it will be the only legacy you get. In 2016 you called then-candidate Donald Trump “disgusting.” In 2018 you embraced his so called principles to try and start your senate career – and lost. After being appointed to fill the remainder of McCain’s term, with no help from Trump or his minions, you might have seen the writing on the wall and charted a conservative yet separate position. Instead, you embraced Trump with all of the fervor of a drowning victim.

In January when you had the chance to rid this country of the worst president in living memory you and the rest of the Republican party – save one – blinked. You couldn’t even be bothered to look at the evidence brought before you. Instead you swept it off of the table, too afraid to look in the box for fear of what you might find. This set us up to have a President in charge when the worst medical crisis in a century hit the country, a President who cared nothing about the American people, only his own reelection prospects. There are currently 230,000 dead Americans. Best estimates are about half can be laid at Trump’s feet. Having praised his so-called response, how does it feel to have those 115,000 people laid at your feet as well?

Despite your loyalty, despite for voting for his supreme court nominee mere weeks – instead of ten months – before the American people could decide who they would prefer make that determination, you got the payback he is so famous for: none at all. I watched as he reluctantly called you to share the platform with him like you were his dog. Was that a proud moment in your career?

Actually, it does not matter. The Republican party has lost its way so far, for the first time in my life I have voted straight Democrat all the way down my ballot, submitted, accepted, and counted already. I could not bring myself to vote for even the two Republicans running unopposed for constable and justice of the peace, leaving them blank instead. If the polls are correct the Trump administration will be a nightmare from which we will awaken come January 20 next year. And you, like a remora that has attached itself to a dead shark and cannot let go, will be dragged into the abyss with it.

Since she lost the election to Kelly and left office before the end of November – it was a special fill the rest of the term election so didn’t have to wait for the new class to arrive in January – there was no reply to this one.

IANAL, but this strikes me as having exactly zero chance of working. And it’s hilarious how desperate he is.

I truly and sincerely hope so.

Nothing is more comforting to me than knowing his mass platforms (that he is willing to spend his absolutely minimal energy on) are cut off. It honestly does significantly weaken his attempts to spread insanity and incipient insurrection, since he is mostly far too lazy to go barnstorming across the country. Regaining his preferred social media outlets would be a fucking disaster for democracy in the US.

That was always the great flaw of 1984 - Orwell assumed that the Inner Party members would be competent.
