A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

If she did, by some chance, read it, it must have burned.

We humans are so very talented at rationalizing our bad conduct—letters like yours present one of the few challenges to that magical ability to feel “okay” about awful stuff we do.

That is, if they are read–and even if McSally had someone to shield her from truth-telling like that, at least that minion got a bellyful.

Excellent observation. It might be a pointless intellectual exercise, but I do wonder if Orwell had been given just one additional piece of information—that in the future it would become possible to live life 24/7 without EVER hearing a news anchor or radio host or acquaintance or friend say something that contradicted your own preconceived notions—if he could have predicted the rise of Buffoon Kings.

After all, Buffoon Kings reign only if they already have control of a mighty military (and new candidates wouldn’t have that), OR if a sizeable portion of the population have no idea that they are Buffoons. In 2016 we had millions of people who didn’t realize that Trump/Rudy/Sean Spicer/Kellyanne/Stephen Miller et al were ridiculously malign, corrupt, and guaranteed to make the USA a laughingstock.

In Orwell’s time there was basically one fact-universe, despite the existence of plenty of propaganda. But the propagandists couldn’t keep half of the British people for example, from knowing what were the basic reputations of major political figures of the day.

And now we can watch them out asshole each other.

“If I faced him, I’d beat him like I would beat everyone else,” Trump said during an interview with Yahoo Finance Live, set to be released on Monday.

Except Joe Biden

And if he didn’t, it would be due to “massive fraud”, for which there is evidence – secret evidence, hitherto undisclosed, but evidence nonetheless. You can get independent corroboration from Pillow Guy.

It’s just a pity that Republicans can’t find someone sane to run in 2024. They certainly exist, like Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse, who is a hardcore Republican but definitely sane. But I guess for that very reason he is ruled out.

Hah! Burn! :fire:

I just dropped in to post about Lin’s claim that 9/11 was a CGI hoax, but I see it’s already been discussed in a few recent posts above. I’ll add this tidbit that was in the article I saw: He claims that no fragments of any of those jets were ever found at any of the 9/11 crash sites, thus proving that they never happened.

That is factually bullshit. The article points out that pieces of the planes are in fact on display at a museum:

I guess those are like the “fossils” that Satan planted to fool “scientists” into thinking that the world is more than 5,000 years old. Except that the “plane parts” may have been planted by George Soros instead of Satan*.

* As if there’s a difference.

It’s working just fine…if you assume that the intent isn’t to get back on Twitter but rather to reinforce the narrative that the right are being “cancelled” and persecuted by the evil social media companies.

If someone is genuinely happy with the idea of a 6-3 conservative Supreme Court, then I’m not sure how much of a burn it is to kick off a letter with a quick “I hope you are happy with your legacy, a 6-3 conservative supreme court.”

I slogged my way through it last week. The rants and conspiracy theories are compelling proof that Rudy’s elevator no longer goes to the top. I can’t believe his attorneys didn’t do more to shut him up.

I’m holding out hope for Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, but he has no chance at the nomination.

I’m holding out hope that every American voter will internalize the fact that voting for a Republican is a sin, and not do it, causing the Republican Party to extinguish.

But not a whole LOT of hope.

In a country where millions of people still believe that Trump was “fighting for America” in spite of no evidence to support this and considerable evidence against, the hope that reason will prevail will always be unrequited.

To quote Friedrich Schiller (in translation):

Against stupidity the very gods
Themselves contend in vain. Exalted reason,
Resplendent daughter of the head divine,
Wise foundress of the system of the world,
Guide of the stars, who art thou then if thou,
Bound to the tail of folly’s uncurbed steed,
Must, vainly shrieking with the drunken crowd,
Eyes open, plunge down headlong in the abyss.
Accursed, who striveth after noble ends,
And with deliberate wisdom forms his plans!
To the fool-king belongs the world.

Sometimes I worry that Trump was just the GOPs Beast Rabban and than next time they’re running their Feyd Rautha.

True enough, but the rest of the letter goes on to detail McSally’s hypocritical history of contradictory positions on Trump and on how SCOTUS nominations should be handled. So I’ll stick with the ‘burn’ remark.

If they manage to come up with someone who can fit into Sting’s 1984 leather Speedo, then they will have earned more respect* than at any other time in the past five years.

*from certain quarters, at least. A vote is a vote!

GOP 2024: The Spice Must Flow!!!

That is going to be VERY confusing to the “All-American” majority of the Trumpian-GOP, who see anything beyond salt-and-pepper as unacceptably FURIN and UN-AMURICAN.

(And Frank Herbert they know not.)

Still, the imagery (thinking here of the Lynch movie art-direction of Giedi-Prime) DOES, undeniably, fit…

Look at the orange face on Leto there. Too Trumpian.

It would be better if the sub title was “Many people say this is the Grandest & Greatest Dune Book of Them All!”

I’m no Freudian, but if there ever was phallic symbolism, it’s this. Though it doesn’t resemble a mushroom…
