I’m not in the least confident this statement is accurate. Biden’s favorability ratings are tanking, the media is piling on and the Democrats in Congress are doing exactly nothing to help the situation.
By 2024 Trump may well be able to win another term legitimately. This is my greatest fear.
Indeed. And he’s not the only possibility. Many nations would be happy to lend a hand to destabilizing the USA, believing that would be to their advantage.
And we know that Facebook and Fox News, among others, are all-in on that project. Both have leaders who believe (in my opinion) that a destabilized America is an America less willing and less able to regulate them or disturb their profits.

It’s reasonable to fear such an outcome, but is it as likely as you suggest? I don’t think so. I don’t think Trump could be elected legitimately. He has his hardcore 27% or so of the voters (virtually all energized by white-supremacism, with a few ‘I’ve got mine, Jack’ folks added in). But I can’t see him convincing any of the millions who voted against him in 2020, that he’s actually a better option than Biden or Harris or whoever is the Democratic candidate. They passed judgement on Donald and found him wanting (to say the least).
We shall see.
I won’t put odds on how likely it is Sherrerd, but with Biden sinking in the polls, the media putting a negative spin on everything and the Dems in Congress hamstringing every major piece of legislation Biden puts forward, I don’t see it as being as unlikely for Trump to win in 2024 as it should be. The GQP will most likely take both chambers of Congress in 2022 and then BOOM, Biden is a lame duck, unable to get anything passed. Trump, McConnell and McCarthy will take advantage of this in every way they can.
I live in a very dark blue city and I hear comments daily from people who I know are left/progressive in their thinking about how Biden is obviously senile or barely has a grip on things. The right has been pushing this narrative since 2019 and it is becoming more accepted by the general public every day.
As for Harris, if you think you live in a country that will elect a woman, much less a non-white woman to be POTUS, then you live in a very different country than the one I experience every day.

The fact you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. In fact, the opening sketch on SNL last night played this up. Be assured, it’s happening and it’s just going to get worse.

In last year’s election, Democrats were energized too, enough to yield the biggest Democrat voter turnout in U.S. history, with Trump’s energized turnout being the second biggest in U.S. history. That’s some energy! With Trump out of office now, the danger is that Democratic voters will not be as energized in 2022 or 2024, yet the Republicans still will be to some great amount. That’s why Republicans have such a good chance to take Congress next year and Trump in 2024.
That’s what we need to be scared about. Democrats just don’t have it in them to be as outraged as Republicans do.

I’m talking about Democrats en masse of course. To be sure, there are many individual Democrats outraged (the political threads here in the Pit being evidence of that!) but overall, Democrats just aren’t built on outrage like Republicans are.

I don’t see anyone that the Republicans can nominate who will energize all their voters. It’s definitely not Trump. He fires up their base, and all their racists, but he turns moderates blue. Here in AZ, Trump lost because he convinced thousands of Republicans to vote for Biden.
