“…because Hanukkah is just the Jewish part of Christmas!”
Publix heiress, former board member Carol Jenkins Barnett dies at 65
Jenkins Barnett had younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
“…because Hanukkah is just the Jewish part of Christmas!”
In line with what Tamerlane posted: I’d say the answer will be re-veal-ed when we see those November 2022 election results in Nunes’ district.

If the preview doesn’t load, the CFSG’s appeal to keep documents from congress is denied, with a 2 week delay so he can appeal to the SCOTUS. It would have been better if there had been a Trump appointee on the board, but such is life. The line that sticks we me the most -
“What Mr. Trump seeks is to have an Article III court intervene and nullify those judgments of the President and Congress, delay the Committee’s work, and derail the negotiations and accommodations that the Political Branches have made,” the appeals court said. “But essential to the rule of law is the principle that a former President must meet the same legal standards for obtaining preliminary injunctive relief as everyone else. And former President Trump has failed that task.”
I’m going to guess that after the Supreme Court refuses to hear the case, Trump tries to personally ORDER the National Archives to not turn over any records. And someone there will have a good laugh.
What I worry is that whatever the Supreme Court does or doesn’t do, they will slow-walk it for a long time.
More bad news for Donald: the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent points out that today’s appeals court decision removes a specific line of GOP resistance to Congressional investigation of Trump—namely, their frequent argument that there is no “valid legislative purpose” to their investigations:

The “here” is on the top of page 54 of this PDF:

And yes, poor Donald will do whatever he can to delay the Archives acting on the decision (and releasing what must be some pretty juicy evidence of misconduct).
But every court decision of this kind makes it trickier for other courts—even ones packed with Trump appointees—to give him an out.
Well, we’re about to see just how activist the current SCOTUS is (they’re already pretty activist). There is, again, no issue of law for them to decide. The DC appeals court made that extremely clear with their superb ruling.
But I’ve thought this before. They have intervened by taking cases of settled law for the sole purpose of slowing things down for Trump, as pointed out by @Senegoid, even knowing how they would eventually rule. Such tactics are really political. The ruling on Don McGahn’s testimony springs to mind.
Happily, more people are catching on to this game and their popularity has plummeted. My hope is that public perception may act as a hindrance to bald partisan rulings. They’re already struggling with the abortion issue they’re about to blow up.
I thought this was interesting:
Oh, that’s so nice not expecting or supporting violence. WHAT ABOUT ATTEMPTING TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES?? Did that little circumstance enter into your thinking? What were you thinking? Got any children? They should be taking steps to put you even further out to pasture than the Italian countryside. A Dumpsterfire backer? Should be grounds for a conservatorship.
I hope the FBI and justice department [just a hope] plan an investigation into this funding. Seems to have resulted in multiple deaths you ignorant slut [SNL]. How about spending your golden years in a nice federal prison?
Since I’m fresh out of lightning bolts, this rant will have to do. No f@$^^#ng God, what a wasted planet.
I didn’t know where this should go. I only know I enjoyed reading about the baby’s temper tantrum
I’ve been laughing about that all day.
It’s like every day he continues to show us that he didn’t understand the job. Or politics. Or anything.
In case some guests reading this site encounter any confusion (and misplaced schadenfreude): the Publix Heiress whose death was announced this week is NOT the one who gave $$$$ to support the January 6 doings.
The one who died is the younger sister of the Trump fan; she apparently had what they call “younger-onset Alzheimer’s,” dying at age 65.
Jenkins Barnett had younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Unless you want to argue that she was sent a flyer saying, “We’re lying that the election was stolen - it wasn’t - but we’re organizing an event to throw a coup. Want to fund it?” Then it seems more reasonable to believe that she thought the election was stolen and that the protest was pitched as a protest, not a coup.
Financing a peaceful protest, in the face of a corrupt election, seems like the least objectionable thing a person could really do.

I’m largely amenable to US support of Israel but, from the actual output of the Trump presidency, almost everything they did of substance and with competence - that I can think of - was in service to Israel and Netanyahu.
I realize that almost everything the Trump Presidency tried to accomplish was destroyed through it’s own incompetence so it’s not quite true to say that you’d swear he thought he was elected to work for Israel not America. But, maybe minus the self-defeat, that wouldn’t have been the impression. As it was, between Jared and Pompeo, and their mutual desire to strengthen Israel, there was only one area in the whole Trump administration where there was unanimity of goal between the major players, and both were able to stay in Trump’s good graces for the whole four years.
At the end of it, I don’t know that they pulled off anything worth achieving. Maybe if Trump hadn’t unilaterally turned Jerusalem into the capital of Israel, and destroyed their place plan, they’d have really accomplished something noteworthy. Goal not achieved, but it was the most effective area of the whole administration to watch.
I think what this says is that the Israeli govt knew how to play trump perfectly.

Bullshit. This trust fund baby was not living in bubble. Most folks up on the news knew Dumpsterfire was agitating, the usual gang of white supremacists were organizing and trouble was expected. Did you miss the constant drumbeat about massive fraud FOR MORE THAN A YEAR? She might have missed it too - bullshit. Calls for Pence to seat “alternate” electors. Sixty + lawsuits trying to overthrow voting in swing states. Sorry, a person would have to be completely oblivious to miss the pattern.
How close are we to having the whole dastardly inner circle plot revealed and the Trump team pivoting to claiming that there was nothing wrong or illegal about any of it?
That was certainly the pattern during his term in office. Lie, obstruct, cover up and then finally argue that everything was perfectly legal.
This is an incredible time in this country’s political history and I’m still not clear on just how we got here.
I’m still not clear on just how we got here.
Starting with Newt G., who changed his party from one that was concerned with governing into one that was concerned only with getting power. And to accomplish this, he created The Enemy. Then Enemy could not be compromised with- only destroyed. The Enemy was evil. The Enemy wanted to hurt you. The Enemy did not just have different ideas on how to govern, they were baby-eating antichrists.
