A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

Gift link:

A federal judge ruled on Monday that former President Donald J. Trump and a lawyer who advised him on how to overturn the 2020 election most likely committed felonies, including obstructing the work of Congress and conspiring to defraud the United States.

The judge’s comments marked a significant breakthrough for the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, which had laid out in a civil filing the crimes it believed Mr. Trump might have committed as it weighs making a criminal referral to the Justice Department.

The Justice Department has been conducting a wide-ranging investigation of the Capitol assault but has given no public indication that it is considering pursuing a criminal case against Mr. Trump. A criminal referral from the House committee could increase pressure on Attorney General Merrick B. Garland to do so.

YES, PLEASE.

And all the sane, patriotic, genuinely freedom-loving people said, “Amen!”

With sugar on top.

One of my peeves with so much of this reporting is that they don’t link to the actual document they are discussing in the article.

If anyone is interested, here it is.

Not that I expect the FBI or the DOJ to actually do anything, not when the head of the FBI claims not to even see the connection between January 6th and Trump’s election loss. He’s a Federalist Society operative that needs to go.

Is there a link missing there?

Agreed. There is so much low-hanging criminal fruit and the FBI and DOJ are keeping their hands in their pockets for no good reason. I suspect also the Biden administration was hoping the states would do all the work so Biden wouldn’t be accused of going after his predecessor.

Whoops, here’s the missing link.

I’m really trying not to delve into conspiratorial thinking, but I’m starting to wonder if some deals were cut back when Trump was deciding on his last minute pardons.

I understand you don’t want to set a precedent where any time there’s a change in power, the new group in charge uses their position to persecute the previous person.

But here’s an easy solution… DON’T BLATANTLY VIOLATE THE FUCKING LAW LIKE TRUMP DID.

I agree, of course. But then I’m not the one who will be getting openly attacked by half of Congress simply for doing my job.

I imagine that’s going to happen anyway. That’s just part of being in politics.

That’s happening anyway, so he might as well do his job.

Talking Points Memo/TPM almost always has a copy of the legal documents at the end of stories like this. I don’t often read them, but it’s nice to know they’re there if I want to dive in.

And be true to his oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, yeah.

It’s not just congress, it’s the people as well.

And the half that will attack them for not doing their job will do so by complaining loudly on the internet. The half that would attack them for doing their job has demonstrated a tendency towards extreme violence.

Now that was funny.

Thought-provoking and well written analysis.

Thank you, that’s very kind. Some wise person (probably more than one, come to think of it) has advised to always look for what people are getting out of whatever it is they’re spending their time on. When it comes to “Truth Social” (still possibly the most hilarious misnomer for any site ever), users just weren’t getting any strokes/thrills/rewards at all.

Is Nunes slowly coming to the realization that Everything Trump Touches Dies?

And even Agent Orange himself isn’t posting to it, so they aren’t getting that steady diet of word salad either.

TFG is hoping to join soon. He’s #845,378 on the list.
