I posted this in the Alex Jones thread in P&E already, but since this is about a Trump enabler and there is much schadenfreude to be had, I thought it was worth repeating here. It’s just too fun to watch this.
Yes, this is kind of old news now but the video just went up today. I love Devin’s take on this and his reactions on how incredibly stupid it all is.

Trump – after a fierce campaign against Clinton in which he called for her to be jailed for her handling of classified material – signed a law in 2018 that stiffened the penalty for the unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents from one year to five years, turning it into a felony offense.

I have long thought, and occasionally written on here, that vengeful people should be careful when they are crafting tools to harm their enemies, because the exact same tools can be turned around and directed against them as soon as they are out of power (and maybe sooner). This thought is directed mostly at Democrats (because so many Republicans are so far from reality-based as to have no understanding of it).
So, has an executive ever been convicted of a law they themselves signed into law? That would be the best schadenfraude ever.

I’m wondering if the judge, in his order, said, “You must provide your tax returns as you promised you would”.
The beauty of it is the law actually seems to provide that someone would try that stunt. IIRC, the apparel in question must have a substantial portion of it produced or assembled in the United States, not just the tag, to qualify for usage of said tag.

No, he’s just trying to get ahead of the narrative and establish its terms before anyone else.
“In Sleepy Joe Biden’s latest example of authoritarian overreach, a search warrant was brutally inflicted on my totally innocent residency staff,” blah blah blah.
Right, it’s easier to fundraise if he’s defining the narrative.
I think that one awful challenge about the Mar a Lago search warrant is that there is such a huge proportion of the US population incapable of objective, critical thinking that unless the FBI finds a massive nerve agent factory manned by thousands of Hitler, Stalin, and bin Laden clones who all answer only to Trump, they (that is the US population of Trump followers) will always be convinced that he’s being persecuted illegally.
As long as those rogue clones answer only to Tan the Conman, his supporters would still say he’s being persecuted unfairly.
It’s fucking frightening isn’t it. I honestly don’t see the US, and thus the world, ever recovering from this.
I know. It’s truly appalling to me that a significant portion of the population is openly and delightfully supporting Putin and his war on a country I believe we count as an ally.
