A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

And I’d guess that the Nazi-supporters had to travel farther to get to the event than the detractors, on average.

My impressions from In the Garden of Beasts, a great book by the writer and historical researcher Erik Larson about the first US ambassador to Nazi Germany in 1933-34, is that throughout the 1930s there was a surprising amount of pro-Nazi sentiment among many factions in America, along with a fair amount of antisemitism. It was difficult for the ambassador, William Dodd, to mobilize much anti-Nazi sentiment in government even when Hitler’s extremism started becoming evident, at least in the earlier part of the decade. Dodd’s daughter Martha, caught up in the “glamour” of Nazi celebrations, even had an affair with Rudolf Diels, at that time head of the Gestapo.

There’s a morality tale in there somewhere. Maybe the one where many of us don’t see real evil until it’s staring them in the face, and maybe not even then, until it’s too late to stop.

Speaking of baseless accusations and the special Trump version of them: it turns out there are security cameras all over Mar-a-Lago, and they were turned on during the FBI search Monday.

So all Donald needs to do is show us all that footage of FBI agents (supposedly) planting evidence, right?

Wrong, of course. BUT, while continuing to claim that something that didn’t happen did happen and would have been caught on video if it did happen, but the Trumps don’t care to show that evidence that supposedly exists----at the very same time, the Trumps will claim that the FBI agent did Awful Things and it’s caught on video but they’re not going to show it to us because Reasons:

It all makes perfect sense to Eric, I guess.

That story contradicts itself more times than when Devin Nunes wrote his Memo.

(Note that Chuck Grassley’s version of the same memo did not have any such issue, since he’s not a moron.)

Well, it was actually Antifa dressed up as the FBI.

Yeah, it’s almost sublimely illogical–just the way they like it. Eric has finally made his move to catapult himself into GOP relevance.

The Trumpers also say that the warrant says a lot of bad stuff, but refuses to release it.

They are allergic to actual evidence.

These shitty lawyers who are claiming the FBI planted evidence… let them repeat this claim in court, under oath.

They’ll do to some random low level FBI agent what they did to those election workers in Georgia. They’ll comb the tapes until they see a guy pull his phone from his pocket and set it down on a table, or something similar….and they’ll claim the guy was planting evidence. They’ll spread his name around and he’ll have to go into hiding……this will be an object lesson for all current and prospective FBI agents……which is part of the long game.

FBI agents delivered subpoenas to several lawmakers in Harrisburg, PA. This appears to be in connection with Scott Perry’s phone that was taken and the fake elector scheme. I’m not sure if it’s directly connected to the Jan 6th Committee or if it’s just branching out from Perry’s phone. Nonetheless, I bet some folks are nervous!

Apropos of nothing, there really has been a lot of great shit going down lately.

Trump is obsessed with finding out if there is a mole in his inner circle, if his phones are tapped or if visitors are wearing a wire.

One Trump adviser tells Rolling Stone that since Tuesday, MAGA loyalists have been asking to pass their suspicions to Trump, telling him not to trust certain individuals and to investigate them for possible contacts with federal authorities. “I’m getting a lot of messages saying [things like], ‘This guy must be the informant,’ and others…calling for the [former] president to start doing phone-checks of his staff,” says the adviser. “To be honest, a lot of it feels like people trying to screw over the ones they don’t like [in Trumpworld.]”

As if we needed more proof trumplicanworld is a sinking ship.

You misspelled “stinking shit”

True.

That ship will never sink, because shit that fatty always floats.

My sleepy eyes read this as “Trump pelican” which works. I can see the resemblance.

I picture him like Al Pacino sitting behind his desk (only with a pile of hamberders) - totally paranoid that everyone is out to get him.

Is it really paranoia if everyone is out to get him? I can’t imagine anyone near him has any real love for or loyalty to him beyond their own self interests.

True dat… like the old joke.

So I recently remembered some conversation from around the 2020 election and its aftermath. There was a lot of speculation, much of it from people here at the SDMB, that Trump would be sweating bullets if he lost the election because he knew he’d be in big trouble once he lost the shield provided by being in office. When he put out the massive amount of rhetoric about how the election was stolen, and almost desperately tried to get it overturned, that was seen as confirmation that he was worried about it.

Is it possible that all of this trouble he seems in (Georgia election tampering, Jan 6 commission and DOJ investigation, New York fraud case, documents seized by warrant) is just a sign of things catching up to him? I’d like to think this was inevitable and he and/or his people knew it.

Trump Signed The Law That May Have Turned Him Into A Felon

It can’t get any more schadenfreude-y than that.
